Place: DeSoto Comments: Congratulations on the baby girl, Mr. McGee, it's about time! Bless her heart does she have a chance at being a girlie girl? Happy Birthday's, Anniversaries etc., that I missed. So glad I logged on to see the info about the Arnold's. I knew his first and second wife, did know he had married Ms. Schmeltekopf. I remember her being all the guys in speech class She had a crush on Steve Tennpenny big time! I had to look her up to make sure it was her. She had short black hair! Taught speech. Crazy personality.
Place: DeSoto Comments: You are welcome Don. Too good a news to keep to oneself. Glad you enjoyed.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Cynthia - Thank you for posting the news article link regarding our former SOC teacher couple, the Arnolds. A century of combined teaching - wow! Dale - Offended - me? Nah. Some of us are actually reading & paying attention to your g/b humor & e-mail jokes - and we're enjoying both! So, you should feel flattered. Please pour-on all the humor you like - we can handle it. Just keep on keeping on! However, Jack, Richard & JS, to name only a few, will probably rip you from time to time though. ![]() At our age, I'm just thankful to recall something that happened already - I don't always. Come to think of it, you could've denied recalling the whole thing & I would've had no way to prove otherwise.
Place: DeSoto Comments: You are welcome Sandy. I was not priviledged to have known either of them personally but was so impressed on the piece that WFAA did on them and really appreciated it. They have come to SOC Reunions and always seem to enjoy themselves. They do not really seem old enough to retire when you look at them physically. The DISD looses another pair of good educators. You know they are retiring at the same time as some of their students are now - is that strange or what?
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank You Cynthia for the link! Just watched it. Boy, Mrs. Arnold looks great! What a career for them both! Ya'll should all take time to look at the link if you didn't see it on TV.
Place: DeSoto, TX Comments: I was surprised and pleased to see a feature on the Channel 8 news last night and this morning about our SOC teachers. Thought you might enjoy taking a look at the clip as well: http://www.wfaa.com/news/education/Retiring-Dallas-teachers-share--122846509.html
Place: Garland USA Comments: I can only speak for myself but I rather enjoy Dale's quick wit. I can say that as I don't have to worry about the fall-out from my ring-side seat..LOL!
Place: 66erville Comments: Dale, I think you are putting too much in Don's comment. Please don't stop (even if you could). All funnies need to keep being cycled and personalized. A laugh is a laugh and remembering "old" jokes often bring back other memories. So keep it up. Don't worry about Sandy not understanding you. She never has understood guys and guy stuff. But it is OK, she's happy just as she is.
Place: Richardson Comments: Dale - I never understood you in HS, much less now! But ... if you watch your step, Yuvonne may let you live to see another day! ![]()
Place: Texas Comments: Happy Memorial Day to all our vets. Rudy & I went to the memorial service in Duncanville this morning; was a moving ceremony. We drove out to the National Cemetery but could see that it was going to be a MAJOR event, so we turned around and went home. If anyone hasn't seen the campus of Dallas Baptist U. lately; go look, it's beautiful and the new chapel is awesome to see. I didn't work in the yard today, but did clean out gutters in the back. YUCK! I need gutter helmet. Never thought I'd live in the same house so long that the trees and shrubs are so tall that they shed into the gutters. Congrats to Sandy McGee on the birth of a granddaughter. How exciting for your family.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Greetings All – It’s been almost 2 years since our last vets' roster update.
As a reminder, if anyone knows of other vet classmates who may not be included, please contact me.
BTW – Click on USvetTV at noon today (now!) to watch streaming telecast of Special Memorial Day Observance at The Wall in Washington DC.
Place: Coleman Comments: OK, Don. You are right. occasionally I take an old story and make it applicable to current events in an effort to make it more interesting. Sorry if that offends you. It won't happen again.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Dale - That was a good one back when you e-mailed it to some of us w/o your names, and it's still a good one now. Next time, just try cold long necks & make sure she has some, too - but not with a wine chaser, or you'll never get around to saying - or doing - anything!
Place: Lazy S Ranch Comments: Speaking of yesterday, Yuvonne and I were sitting on the front porch at sunset sharing a romantic evening and a bottle of reserved 2004 Folie 'A Deux, a very dry little Cabernet Sauvignon and just as the sun dropped below the horizon I said "I love you." Yuvonne turned and looked at me and said "Is that the wine talking?" I said " Nope, that was me talking TO the wine." Rest of the evening weren't so dad gummed romantic.
Place: Confused Comments: SNL, I am confused. Yesterday you said that tomorrow is another day and I only read that today so is today another day or will we have to wait another day for it to be another day tomorrow? |
