Place: Rain, Wonderful Rain!!

Comments:
It starting raining about 3:00am & we got nice rain until about 7:00ish.  It's been so long I can't remember if it's been 10, 12, or more days since we've seen a drop!!  I surely hope West & East TX get some of it.  The entire state of Texas , except for the immediate DFW area, is in an Extreme Drought condition!!  Some of the rivers have dried up & farmers are having to buy hay for their cattle as there is no grass for them to eat!

Yesterday we broke the 10-day streak of 100 plus temps, only got 99!  Supposed to get a break this wk with low 90's.

Dale & Yuvonne - Is ya'lls Ranch OK?  How about the smoke at your home & John Southworth's home?? Are you getting a lot of it? I know that wildfire is a little west of Conroe!  It's unreal what continual high temps, no rain & high winds can do to the land & personal homes!!!  Texas is a real disaster area!

KMD - That clip was so cute!  Once Luke got his cool hat on he really got with it.   The applause were icing on the cake!

If you have 5 minutes to watch, this is a video clip of grandson Luke's 2nd annual birthday bash in which he plays drums (his new passion) along with brother Trey (on guitar) before a captured audience (really) at his party on Saturday. It's kinda amusing.

Hope all you Dads took full advantage of your special day yesterday (it sounds like Don L definitely did). Congratulations Ms. McMakin! You deserve a break today and many more to follow. Enjoy it.

SNL, glad you survived the "cookout" with the blessing of shade. It's hard to beat s'mores.  We went to a Father's Day gathering for my Dad Sunday and to a birthday party for 2-year-old grandson Luke on Saturday. Busy but very fun weekend.

We survived a wk w/3 6-yr-olds & now it's bk to the same old grind  . . .  WORK!   We have a pool 3 short blks from our home, part of our HOA.  So it makes for quick access & swim w/Papa Don while I fix supper.

We got to the park fire pit area about 6:00pm & played some ball & then at 7:00 we started the fire.  You're right KMD - -  what was I thinking when I conceived that idea!!!  But, it was total shade there & by 7:30 it was neat & we roasted wieners & then made S'mores.  The kids loved it.  Sat we went over to my bro's hse & swam in his pool & ate lunch with them. That evening I helped the kids make Father's Day cards for their Dad.   It was a great week & the kids have lots of memories to tell mom & dad.  Some things I wish they wouldn't tell . . . but we can always deny it!!!

Jack & Glynda moved this weekend!!!  They don't have Inet yet so no Em.  He'll let us know when he's bk up & running again.  Hope everyone of our SOC Dad's had a good Father's Day & stayed cool.  Now it's back to work . . .  Oh, congrats  ( I think) to McMakin!!  That darn job was too demanding, you need more free time!  Enjoy!!

Tomorrow is my last "free" day before I start playing mom and gran-mommy!

Happy Father's Day to you dads and to the dads who step-up to become a dad and mentor to a child.

SNL - are you familiar with the big indoor swimming pool in Allen.  We went there for one of my grandson's b/d parties and it was a really nice place to swim year round.  Lancaster has something similar.

Happy Fathers' Day to all you Daddy SOC'rs out there & hope you enjoy it with kiddos & other loved ones around you.

Besides Fathers' Day, on this date, June 19th:
 - I joined the CG - 1966
 - After dating for about a month, Kathy & I became a couple - 1993
 - At Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, LA, under a big, old, mossy live oak tree (down on my bad knee), I proposed to Kathy - 1995

UPS delivered my new gift toy, a Rockwell 'Blade Runner', on Fri.  Greg drove in to visit and Kathy's making my favorite meal.  I'm not allowed in the kitchen, except to grab a beer (boo-hoo), and  I have the remote - it's a great day!

Thanks, all you Mother SOC'rs!

Gosh thanks SNL ...you know they say you should keep your grandchildren busy and that will wear them out and they will be tired but I believe they have tricked you and they are wearing you out!!!!!

I hope that you have taken lots of pics and will do like I always do....I download them and then go into MyPublisher.com and make a hard back book for them - or for Mom for a Christmas present.  Course I guess I should point out that a weeks worth of pictures with me is usually around 6 or 700.    if you want help let me know.

Wow SNL, sounds like a fun week with the grandones, right up until you said you were going to cook outside at the hottest point of the day over a roaring open fire. Whew! It makes me sweat just thinking about it.  lol

Gosh, I miss 3 days & you guys have been really busy typing.  Shortcake, I'm still laughing thinking about you on kids crutches!! McMakin - You got a good idea about recycling medical Eq.  I just read abt that very thing in the DMN tda!  Ronney - Congrats on your new job you'll be starting soon!!  Way to go!  And of course on your soon-to-be-Grandparent title!!

Can't believe the one week we get the triplets, we're having a 100 * plus week!!!  Drove down & picked them up Tue.  Wed we rode DART train from the 190/Renner station all the way to Dls Zoo.  We were outside at the zoo all day until 4:30 & then caught DART home.  Good grief!!  I can't remember being so hot in my life.  Thought I was going to pass out a few times.  But we all made it & the kids loved the zoo & the train rides.  Thurs went to Kidsville in Duncanville (TNX Rick!) & had great time for about 3-4 hrs . . . again in 100* heat.  They're w/Don now at the pool & at 4:00 we're going to Breckinridge Park across from our house & have a wiener roast & make s'mores!  We have wood & all the fixin's ready to go.  By the time Sun rolls around I think I will have lost 5 lbs from sweating so much!!

But we're having a great time, heat & all!  Rick - you should have seen me running & climbing thru Kidsville with the triplets!!  What Fun!!  Gotta go, they'll be back soon & Mimi promised to have all the food & the soccer ball ready to go to the park.
