Place: OKC Comments: I was talking about Colorado. If that happens here…oh my!😯
Place: Richardson Comments: Good Grief Paul, are you talking about now at your house in OKC or back in Col? Either way, that's too much snow. Ours was mostly ice, then a little snow on top. That's the worst! As soon as that thin layer of snow blows off you are left with a dangerous layer of very hard ice. One of our 25 + year old Live Oaks at the HOA pool area has 4 big branches broken. One on the ground & other 3 dangling way up in the tree. They'll be out Monday to see what they can do, it's going to really cause a big cut back on that tree. We're lucky , our trees have shed their leaves & ice melted off them Saturday without any damage. Hope everyone's power remained on! Haven't heard of any outages of any SOCites yet. Seems Plano had a lot of outages due to downed trees knocking out the lines. In our area the lines are all buried.
Place: OKC Comments: Just a note: Our address says “Edmond” but we are really OKC. I am going with that from now on. Having lived in Colorado for 20 years, and having shoveled out of blizzards, I need never see snow again…except in photographs. When your dog can walk up and over your 6 1/2 foot fence to the neighbor’s yard that is TOO.MUCH.SNOW.
Place: Kerrville Comments: We got hit with a lot of sleet and ice but no snow. Have not been out since Wednesday. I did walk around and take some pictures Thursday. Saw all of the 18 wheelers stuck out on I10. Feel sorry for them but really feel sorry for the cars stuck on the middle. There was about a 15-20 mile backup. Out there all night and some still there yesterday. Some of them were getting out of their trucks and going to get food at McDonalds bringing it back for some of the people around them. Last night at 6 there was still a backup but moving slowly. There was an RV in the middle of it all. People were getting out of cars and going to it since they had a generator going with food, games etc. Hope we are finished with all that. Oh yeah - one good thing - power stayed on this year!
Place: Overland Park, KS Comments: It sounds like all of you who were in the path of the storm came through pretty much unscathed. That’s good news! Our local forecasters were hinting at Armageddon here; we got maybe two inches in the “hardest hit” areas. I guess it’s better to be prepared for the worst and then be pleasantly surprised when it doesn’t happen than to be totally unprepared. Hope that everyone is staying well. Love to all.
Place: North Richland Hills, TX Comments: Same here, Jack. The snow is pretty when it's falling ... after about 15 minutes, I'm ready for it to go away.
Place: Sachse Comments: Clouds seem to be breaking up and the sun is playing peek a boo. Still cold but the sun is a welcome sight. I'm ready for this frozen stuff to go back north were it belongs. Never been a fan of cold weather and time has not changed my mind.
Place: Richardson Comments: The snow has stopped now but for awhile, once the sleet stopped, we had big beautiful flakes for about 30-40 minutes. Everything white. Lots of pretty birds eating all the food I put out for them this morning. As long as we have power, all is good! Glad you still have power and since no ice hopefully it will continue.
Place: Edmond Comments: We seem to have escaped most of the sleet here on the north side of the metro, but we are getting lots of snow. Power has stayed on.
Place: Richardson Comments: It's 6:30 am & sleet still coming down. Streets & sidewalks all white. Hope sleet stops & turns to snow soon. Thankful to have power and I hope all of you are faring as well. I have heat, fireplace going & hot coffee in my hand . . . thankful for all 3. How are you doing in OKC?
Place: Richardson Comments: But what a great trifecta Jerry! Wedding reception, Joyce's 70th B-day & y'alls 50th Anniversary. Can't beat that!
Place: Richmond Comments: Jack/Sandy Thanks for the comments. Yes, Joyce was only 20 when we got married. The best decision I ever made. It was very nice of our grand niece to celebrate our anniversary with such a big reception.(Actually we were happy for them and the timing was purely coincidental.)
Place: Richardson Comments: I did see on FB in a post from their dtr that it was Joyce's B-day & their 50th Anniversary! Lots of good wishes sent their way. Gosh, Joyce was only 20 when they got married, Jerry always did like the cute young girls! Congratulations on your 50th Jerry & Joyce!
Place: Sachse Comments: Well, darn it, I forgot to post this on Saturday. Jerry & Joyce Tillery celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today, January 29, 2022. It does not seem that long ago we were speeding around Houston on a cold, wet day/night. It was a great wedding and the reception, whoooee! I remember most of it well. Dancing to good music, eating great food and having a good time. I've known Jerry since Lisbon Elementary and Joyce since 1969. Two solid friends and good people. So here is to Jerry & Joyce, may their marriage last forever.
Place: Richardson Comments: After being really sick due to all the cedar, juniper and other pollen and crude in the air, I'm finally feeling good again as of Saturday. It lasted 4 weeks . . . didn't think I was ever going to get better. Now it looks like Wed evening and night and on Thur. we're in for some ice, sleet & snow along with some very low temps! So get that 2nd cup of coffee, maybe a cookie or two, and set back and relax. Tomorrow is February 1. Hopefully the darn Omicron variant is on it's way out and maybe, just maybe, we can start to feel safe to mingle with friends. Going to get another cup and think about it. Stay warm & safe Socites! |
