It was good, other than that 9th inning 3-run home run by Boston!!  We got there just before 12:30 and roof was open until about 4pm when the clouds starting rolling in. Beautiful day!  Section 126 Row 3.  It was down the first base line, my favorite place to sit, down the first base line!

We decided to eat at SaltGrass, which is just across I 30 from Ball Park, and then head home. Let a few of the crazies clear out first. Good day but long, we arrived at GLF little before 12:30 and got home just before 8pm.

It's Feb. 25th and it's like a great spring day here and around DFW!  Weather looks great for the next 2 weeks.  Hopefully this means Mother Nature has had her last hurrah for winter and we'll roll into spring. [smile]

It saddens me to say Jimmy Hodnett has passed away.  His wife, Sandi, posted a short message a few hours ago on FB.  I know many of you are not on FB, so I wanted to let you know. Unfortunately, Parkinson's has taken his life today, 2-11-25.

Please keep Sandi Hodnett in your prayers as it's been a rough 4 years for her as she has taken care of Jimmy and stayed strong for him.  God Bless her.

I'm just going to be brief, our friend & classmate, Jimmy Hodnett, isn't doing well at all.  the Parkinson's Disease has taken a toll on him.  Per Sandi Hodnett today, "Jimmy has been put on Constant Care Hospice. It will be just a matter of time."

Please keep both Jimmy & Sandi in your prayers.  God Bless them.

It's been just a little over 3 weeks since our dear friend Ada Ann passed away. Then 2 weeks later Buddy Capps son died in a car wreck. I won't lie, it's hard losing good friends. But somehow, we put on a good face and do our best to get thru those days when our hearts hurt and you just want to pull the covers over your head and cry.

Let's be happy for today and the great weather and sunshine coming here in the DFW area from Wed thru Sat. Yesterday & Sun were very warm, upper 70s & low 80s, but today some drizzle. Let's try to think Spring, flowers and sunshine and maybe it will lighten our load.

Ada Wingate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peabody Funeral Home - Londonderry on Jan. 13, 2025.

Ada Ann Wingate, 76, a resident of Londonderry for 50 years, passed away unexpectedly on January 12th, 2025. Born in Dallas, Texas, on October 27, 1948, to Dan William Henrie and Billie Loretta Berkley, Ada was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
On December 19, 1970, Ada married the love of her life, Joseph Leon Wingate in Dallas, Texas. Together for 54 years they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Joseph Leon Wingate, Jr. and Jonathan Robert Wingate.
Ada graduated from Cedar Crest Baptist College in 1970 and went on to teach in the Dallas, Texas school system as well as served as a substitute teacher in the Londonderry school district.
Ada's greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, always offering a warm smile, a kind word, and a listening ear. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Henrie and Billie Henrie, and her brother, Bill Henrie.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Leon Wingate, DDS; her sons, Joseph Wingate, Jr. and his wife Judea Franck of Fort Collins, CO, and Jonathan Wingate and his wife Beth Bisbing of Litchfield, NH; and her cherished grandchildren Sophia Wingate, Caleb Wingate, Blake Wingate, and Brooke Wingate. Extended members of her family include Charles E. Wingate, Jr., MD and his late wife, Vera; Robert M. Wingate and wife, Patricia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ada will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her deep love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever held in our hearts.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Family and Friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made to an organization which supports cancer research and treatment such as the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.

Place: ADA ANN - Services

Comments:
I've been asked several times about services/memorial for Ada Ann. Since Ada Ann & Joe made the decision some time ago to be cremated, I don't believe there will be any type of services or memorial here in Dallas. They have lived in NH, except for the first year or so, all their married life.  There would be no reason to fly back here as al their friends are in NH.

If that changes, I will definitely let you know.
