It was 6 wks this past Thursday, 10-9, since Don's biking accident.  Fri we had 6 wk check up at surgeon's ofc.  He's doing very good and the past 2 wks of PT has really helped.  He has at least 2 more wks to go.

Able to move his arms, hands and fingers much better now.  They said he was actually about 2 wks ahead of what they thought he would be at this time!  All of this has made things so much better.  But will take time to fully regain movement and strength in both arms and wrists.  Thank you all for your concern and kind words and prayers. [love]

SNL/DON,
PRAYING for you both. Glad the recovery is progressing steadily, even if too slow for your liking. (It probably would be for mine.) :-). It is clear that the path our world is pursuing requires our situational awareness unlike at any time in our lives. ‘’We just gots to be careful ‘out there’.” Praying that ALL our classmates avoid what used to be very unlikely happenings.

Nice to her from you Paul.  I know and it worries me too.  At least once a month we see on our local TV where a bicyclist was hit & seriously injured or killed.  The worst part is on several of these incidents the driver of the vehicle ran the biker over ON PURPOSE!  It was captured on the biker's helmet cam.

This Thursday will be 6 weeks and he's now going twice a week to PT.  He can move his fingers better and hold small things.  Still a long way to go but it's going to get better each week. Thanks to you and so many who have expressed concern. [love]

I am joining the “chorus,” Don. Just got a news flash on my iPad. Just had a 75 yr old bicyclist hit and killed by a car in Edmond. Ride in the house!

Thank you Don L.  Things are slowly starting to improve.  It was 5 weeks this past Thursday, coming up on 6 weeks.  Going to PT twice a week beginning this week. Fingers are starting to work better and slowly being able to bend both arms better.

Well, how was it not having to get up and go to work this Monday morning???  Hope you are starting to unwind and just relax a bit.  You put in so many years.  Happy Retirement Don Lincoln!!! [thumb]

Nurse Sandy, give Don my sincere wishes for a quick and full recovery. Just reading your description of his injuries makes me ache all over. Can't imagine the total inconvenience of having BOTH arms incapacitated. As I recall, he and I are the same age ... "ancient". I'm thinking Dr. Burrow's recommendation has a lot of merit.

[Note to Self: Scratch "new bicycle" off my Christmas list to Santa]

I’m with Roe on this one. We don’t bounce like we used to.
Heal quickly and completely, Don…and then you and Sandy stay well, please. ❤️

Don, please take my advice I gave you a few years ago “get a stationary bike.”  It’s soooo much safer & you can program it to any adventure you wish.  You’re a good nurse Sandy.  Glad you are on the mend.

For those who've noticed I've been scarce here & FB, there's a reason,  On 8-28 my husband,Don, took a bad fall on his bicycle, worst yet!  He was riding fast trying to cross the 3 lane st. to go from one trail to another. Hit an uneven & separation in the concrete.  Fell on left side & slid down the pavement & crashed into the curb.

Bottom line: Kind strangers called ambulance & on way to ER Med Tech called me.  He has a broken L elbow & a long deep laceration on left arm. R arm has broken wrist. Both places have metal plate & screws. In addition, as you might imagine, lots of bruising, contusions, swelling & strawberries.  It's been difficult on both of us. [rolleyes]

It's been 4 weeks today & there is improvement this week.  At least he can now move both hands enough to hold a small 6 oz styrofoam cup & small fork.  But as y'all know, I don't put all of my personal life on FB, hence, I wanted to post it here so you wouldn't think I've disappeared.  It's been a hectic 4 weeks for me. [smile]

Dietra, always good to hear from an old classmate.  Is Howard your maiden or married name?  Your post indicated you may not have gone on to SOC with us.  By any chance was Dwight Howard your brother?  Thanks, Sandy (Norman) Lynn
