Place: LV, TX Comments: SNL & I rcvd this sad note from Rick Mitchell earlier this evening about the passing of a very dear lady, who's also the mother of one of our fallen classmates:
"Martha Noah was the mother of Victor Noah. Ms. Noah passed away yesterday. She was 91 years old and lived in Fort Worth with her daughter Charlotte White. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 12:30 P.M. The service will be held at Moore Funeral Home, located at 1219 North Davis, Arlington,Texas 76012. The phone number is 817-275-2711. Please pass this sad news along to our classmates."
I'll also forward to those on the SOC '66 vets e-mail distribution list, as well as Vic's former Marine Corps unit.
I plan to attend Martha's funeral and hope to see other classmates she referred to as "my boys". I can only imagine the heavenly reunion she's having with William Sr. & Jr., Vic.
Place: Garland USA Comments: Sandy, I now have a email notebook much like my regular daytimer for phone numbers! Why not? Rick, sorry to admit that I, too, chuckled at your humorous story about your granddaughter. I'm sorry we had a laugh at her expense. I'm amazed at how those stitch lines always show up on their skin. Hope we all get past the hackers. I remember how much trouble Susan Sunde had.
Place: Carthage, TX Comments: I was hacked last Tuesday or Wednesday. So, I imagine several of you received the e-mail in question. My apologies, although I did hear from several of you that I had not heard from in some while. Once again, my apologies.
Place: TEJAS Comments: Love your story Mr Rick! Hope her noggin is better! Mr Ronney, how are you feeling? Hope that the pain has gone away. How's our girl? Any Beau's on the horizon? My Jackie had her 12th birthday party yesterday. Been a while since I had heard a bunch of girls laughing, yelling and throwing water balloons at each other by the pool. They had a great time! Finally had the identity theft situation mostly taken care of. Need prayers because someone stole boxes of checks from our mailbox. Had to cancel our old account and start a new one.Isn't that just wild?? ![]()
Place: Richardson Comments: Rick, that is so cute & kinda funny, although I'm sure it wasn't for your G-dtr! Daniel (1 of the triplets) got hit just above his right eye 2 wks ago in a similar situation. Glove up . . . ball misses glove & hits him. He got a big knot for a wk or so but insisted on going back in the game as he didn't want to quit. Kids are tough, but it scares the heck outta you when they get hit! I'm sure grandpa made it all better with your sweet words. In that case Jack - - - I'm thru going to the games!!! I wore a new Rangers T-shirt all day yesterday, I've got it on again tda. If they keep winning . . . . may have to wash it late at night to keep from jinxing it!
Place: bigD Comments: Went to my grandaughters (9 years old) soft ball game last night. She played left field and the batter hit a pop fly right to her. The ball was comming down right to her and she had her glove waiting for it. Something happend and it missed the glove and hit her in the forehead. There were 3 girls on base and all ran home. Now her forehead has a mirror image of the ball stitches = = = just below the hair line. I told her if her head hadn't stopped the ball, no telling how much further the ball might have rolled. She did a great job stopping that ball.
Place: bigD Comments: Toni. I got your email and deleted it. Thanks for the warning. also deleted 6 others that appeared phony.
Place: Sachse Comments: Sorry to hear about your hacking, Toni. May I suggest that you change every password on your computer too? That should keep the hacker from being able to access any of your accounts, including email. I hope I'm never hacked. With my emails y'all will never know if it is me or them! Gordy's was GREAT, just not enough SOCites there. And nobody brought Toni's naner pudding. SNL, you're lucky the Rangers started winning again. Seems to me that the losing STARTED when you attended a game.
Place: Richardson Comments: So does this mean I'll never get another em from you? I got the same em 1st from Buddy, then you & then someone else from our grp. I didn't open any of them. I thought it odd that it was only sent to me & of course none of you signed your name. I never open em from people, even those I know well, unless you sign your name & make a short comment. I figure if it isn't worth your time to put a short note & sign it... probably not worth my time to read it. And, most likely it's from a spammer! I'm so sorry to know your pc was hacked. Hope it's well & working correctly real soon.Well, my Rangers have lost 4 in a row and the last two nights have been pathetic! But I'm gonna give 'em another chance to redeem themselves tda at 2:30!! Man, talkin' 'bout sloppy defensive plays . . . they can't seem to hang on to a ball. Much more fun when they're winning!!! Gotta go, have to finish up some house work & get the margaritas & chips out B4 the game. ![]()
Place: Garland USA Comments: Well if it weren't for back luck....you know the rest... I recently received an email from Buddy Capps or so I thought. Being the trusting person I am and not remembering ALL that I had been taught about email, like the idiot I am, I opened the email...and, of course, you know what happened after that! My email account was hacked and I can only assume that Buddy's was as well. I apologize for any unsavory emails you have received from my account; they were not sent by me. Again, my apologies!
P.S. I have completely removed all email contacts from my computer so this will never happen again....or at least it's going to be a lot more difficult for the hacker!
Place: Richardson Comments: Gosh, sorry it's been so long since I logged-in here. Sun we went to the City Arts Festival at Fair Park. Kinda disappointed, wasn't much to it but enjoyed getting out for 3-4 hrs. But it was HOT walking around in the sun!! Mon went over to Gordy's & had a great time!! He out did himself this yr on the brisket!! Good grp of people & we enjoyed visiting w/Jack & Glynda and Mike & Charloitte Moree. Toni - no one brought banana pudding, but Gordy had a strawberry cake he had a friend make for it & it was to die for!! We sure missed KMD, KRL & Toni!! Tue afternoon we headed over to my brothers hse in Lake Highlands & we al went to the Rangers game. Ate out there at Captain Morgans B4 game. But it was HOT HOT HOT out there! We had totally shaded seats but when sun went down the wind died & it was nearly unbearable. Even at 10:30pm it was HOT! Ronney, hang in there kiddo. Tda you will start feeling better & each day will be a little bit better. Glad surgery went well. Shortcake - How you doing? Hopefully this one will be like a piece of cake compared to the 1st one! What about these storms the last two nights. Holy Cow! Mon night(very erly Tue) we had two rounds and both had high wind & hail mixed in with the rain. Last night more rain & some wind but no hail. But at least we have rain & Lake Lavon shd be full & probably running over! Obviously we're doing great, just need to stay out of the draining heat. ![]()
Place: Sachse Comments: Ronney, so glad to hear that your surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery. Definitely stick with oatmeal at least for a while. ![]() BLB, prayers for Sarah's friend and also her family to be safe and to heal. Don L., I loved your tribute to our fallen classmates and all of our military. We had many heroes serving our country from SOC, of which you are certainly one. How's that back doing?
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Thanks, Don, for the honor roll list for Memorial Day. So sad that we have lost these fine men; but what an honor they have done for us. We need to always remember them and others who gave their life for our freedom.
Place: Allen, TX Comments: My surgery went well, today. Got home around 1:30 p.m. The doctor had to pump me full of pain killers (including morphine) because my pain was SO bad. The doctor told Connie that my gall bladder was VERY bad and simply HAD to be removed. I still hurt, but it is becoming bearable. Ate a bowl of oatmeal a few minutes ago. That has set very well. Lucky that I love oatmeal. I think Connie is going to take tomorrow off, too, so she can help me. As soon as the elevator opened on the 2nd floor of the surgery wing, we saw our pastor and associate pastor waiting for us. That made me feel very calm, as I absolutely love those two men. And, their prayers were very comforting. I told them that I am praying that I will feel like attending worship service tomorrow night. I adore our church services and our preacher is wonderful. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that I am doing OK....just in pain. Thanks for yur prayers. Ronney McKee
Place: Garland USA Comments: So how did the Memorial Day celebration go at Gordy's? I gave my banana pudding recipe to one of Gordy's friends last 4th of July so I hope she brought dessert! Staying out of trouble and sticking close to home these days. Hope Ronney's surgery went well. |
