Place: Richardson Comments: Larry - It is May 21st at the Hilton, which used to be the Hyatt, there on Campbell @ Hwy 75 in Richardson. Sometime in the last 2 years Hilton took it over. It's still in the bar area but they redid the whole bar area and it's really pretty now. Lots of table & chairs and couches. Same time as always 2:00pm to 6:00pm. All the details are also posted on our Events page. Would really like to see you, so hope you can make it. And you're right Larry . . . we're losing too many classmates, so let's not waste the opportunity to finally get together after this long hiatus. Hope to see you and lots of our friends on Saturday!!!
Place: Kessler Park, Dallas Comments: I am so sorry to hear of Sammy's passing. I was undecided about coming to the mini, but time passing, along with so many of my classmates, has made it clear that there is no time like the present to catch up. Can someone give me the time and place again? I know it is the 21st, and I am looking forward to hearing from each and every one of you.
Place: Still OP, KS Comments: …and just to be clear… I know that some have legitimate reasons why they won’t be able to attend the mini…but then there are silly excuses…. Still love you guys! 😍
Place: Overland Park, KS Comments: This time next Saturday I will most likely be headed for the Hilton “hospitality area” to see if there are any early arrivers. I know that many are as excited about our mini as I am! ❤️ please…Please…PLEASE don’t let some silly excuse keep you away from a great time with folks who love and care about you. My face may still look like I lost a battle with a door frame - but I will be there with (figurative) bells on! Love you guys! 😘

So many of you have “shared histories” that it is great you can continue to build on friendships that began so many years ago. I envy you in that regard as I didn’t join you until SOC and can’t reminisce with you on the great times growing up together. I wish for you the greatest Mini ever! 🥳🥳🥳

Place: Richardson Comments: Ron, it's nice to hear from you & obviously you're still working and traveling with the government. I do wish you had been able to swing by TX for the Mini. I'm so sorry to learn of your brother's passing. It's really tough loosing a sibling. My heartfelt condolences on your loss Ron. Paul - I hate you & Kathy won't be able to make the trip to Dallas for our long awaited Mini. I know it gets tough trying to schedule time to see G-kids because they all have busy schedules (ours are either attending practice, playing a game or in some kind of camp) and then you have to keep up with your treatment appointments. Take care and we'll get together soon. Great news to hear Karen & Jimmie are going to be able to be there for about an hour or so. Everyone please make the effort to be there at 2:00pm when it begins as some can only stay a short while. If you come really late you may miss some of us. Mini starts at 2:00pm, be on time!
Place: Orange, VA Comments: Sorry to read about Sammy Smith's passing. He was a good friend. I didn't know he went to Lisbon. I went there and became a "plank holder" at Clara B. Oliver. About the only ones I remember from Lisbon were Robert Dobbs (he lived the other end of Maryland, down by Boude Storey and I think Mike Dunn went there too. I won't make the mini, I'll be traveling to Kentucky the following week. Some of you may have known my brother "Bob" He graduated from Samuell's in 1970. He went on to Texas A&M and took over my room in Puryear Hall and my mailbox for four years. He passed away the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2021.
Place: OKC Comments: +2 then -2 as Kathy and I have had a schedule change and will be out of reach on Saturday and won’t make the Mini. We hope everyone has a great time.
Place: Bosque County, TX Comments: Just found out that we will be able to attend the Mini,,,,,for an hour or so anyway! Graduation and Birthday party is planned for 4:00 and they are only about a 30 min trip away from the Mini. Look for us to come. Great news about Jack. Hope he really does make it.
Place: Houston Tx Comments: Just wanted to say thank you to those who sent messages of sympathy to us on the death of Sammy Smith. There will forever be a hole in our hearts in his passing. I never knew a kinder person. We miss him so very much. Can't believe I'll never again hear him say "Let's go to the beach!" Continue to pray for Sarah. She is STRONG. She had to be. We were looking forward to going to the mini with her & Sammy. Rest in peace Sammy. Love you forever. ROAD TRIP!!!! 😥😥💙💙
Place: Richardson Comments: I called Jack Sanders yesterday to see if he & his dtr had discussed coming to the Mini. He couldn't remember if they did. Asked him to talk to her and call with any questions. He called me this morning & said they were coming! Great! Jack can't remember names and he's very nervous about coming but I told him not to worry as he is among friends and it doesn't matter whether he can remember our name or not. So be sure to tell him your name first so he can adjust. Oh, this will make you smile. Yesterday he said all of a sudden he remembered someone and was wondering if they were coming. The one name he remembers . . . Bovie! Of course, Bovie is kind of unforgettable. ![[wink]](https://cdn.websitetoolbox.com/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif "Wink - ;)") I'm going to call and tell Bovie. I hope being around old friends will help Jack's memory.

Place: Richardson Comments: Spring is here & all of a sudden the high temps here in TX are upon us. Forecasting upper 90s and maybe 100 tomorrow here in Dallas area. And this heat is here all week! I'm trying to think good thoughts despite all that's going on in the world. Looking forward to our Mini on May 21 and also our family reunion on my mother's side in June. First time in 2 years for both get-togethers! Enjoy your family gatherings tomorrow! Hope to see lots of you on May21st!!
Place: Update on Gordy Comments: I've been talking with Gordy today, Sunday, 5-1. He sounded good. Will be in the rehab facility thru this week and next. On Monday or Tuesday 5-9 or 5-10, he will see the surgeon and hopefully remove all the staples. Then a few days to make sure the long incision doesn't open up. A big problem is a wound on his heel caused by the leg brace he had been wearing for quite a while. They're trying to heal it. Needs to heal before he goes home. Gordy said thank you for the prayers and the cards he received. He really appreciated it! Again his rehab address is: Villages of Lake Highland, 8615 Lullwhater Dr., Dallas 75238. |
