Don and Barbara, sorry to learn about Kellye's issues with her hip replacement and the need for the biopsy.  We will keep her in our thoughts and prayers, and please let her know we wish her a speedy recovery.

Our daughter Kellye is going in for hip replacement surgery on Thursday. This is to replace the artificial hip she had done about 3 years ago. Her current hip is one that was part of the recall of defective hips from DuPuy. To compound the concerns, she had to have a breast biopsy yesterday. We ask that you put Kellye on your prayer list during her surgery and recovery.

Good to see coasty Don posting. Thanks for the Jack update. Good to know he is doing better.
Toni, feel free to call anytime. Your timing couldn't be any worse (better?) than our daughter's. She has this uncanny knack of knowing when we don't want to be disturbed. Whether it is eating or reading or whatever else.

JS-thanks for letting us know about Yvonne's Mom & giving us the link to her obit.  my condolences to both she & Dale for their loss.

Don L - Thanks for the great update on Jack Sanders. It was really good news to hear he is finally getting some improvement.  It's been a long hard road for him.  Sometimes Drs medicate too much!  Glad  he is doing better & taking on restoration of another Jeep,  as I know that is his passion.

Toni - Sounds like you are doing the same thing we are . . . entertaining G-kids!  We've been to the Ft Wth Zoo, to see Spider -Man, played Putt Putt, bn to Sandy Lake Park and this week we're going to see Ice Age, Sandy Lake Park & Don is taking Dylan to the Ranger Game Wed night.  Dollar Dog Night!!  Today we bought him a Ranger hat.  He's walking on air . . . !  Add in swimming at our pool almost every afternoon and you get two tired G-Parents!  Next wk we get the girl, April.  Thank goodness her idea of fun is going shopping and doing our nails!!!

The AC was replaced Fri & is running like a champ.  If one had to go out it was better the upstairs than the dwnstairs!  Daniel just slept dwnstrs in the Den & other than that it wasn't much of an incovenience since I dwnstrs was working.  But we're glad to have everything running smooth again.

So sorry to learn of Yuvonne's mom's passing. It seems she left a lovely legacy according to her obituary.

Sorry to be so slow in posting. Life just gets so busy but I do try to keep up reading the GB at least once a week. Hope all are staying cool this hot summer (although the Rangers could stand to be a little "hotter").

SNL....glad you enjoyed the Jersey Boys and hopefully we'll make it the next time they are in town.

Jack Hawkins...you've finally uncovered our secret...the Elixir Sisters!!

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Yuvonne and Dale over the loss of her sweet mom.

SNL...I've been quite busy with the two of the three grandsons this past week.   They've been trying to teach me how to play all of their X-Box games!!  We also saw Spiderman and we all barely survived Hawaiian Falls Water Park!  Why does anyone build a water park lower than the parking lot?  It has been a fun-filled week complete with a stop at Bahama Bucks for a shaved ice treat...I'm pooped!    Sorry to hear about your a/c...especially right in the middle of the dog days of summer!

So Jack, does that mean we shouldn't attempt to call you during a Ranger game??  SNL....there's an app for that.....so you don't miss out of any sporting event.....just ask my grandson, Brayden...he downloaded it for me during his visit..lol!

Our heart and prayers go out to the Smiley family on the death of Yuvonne's mother. Services were held today in Gonzales, TX. Dale called me with the sad news, saying she passed away Wednesday after a long spell of declining health. Here is the obit:

FYI, folks - I spoke w/Jack Sanders this morning & got some good news. Said he was feeling 100% better, now that he stopped taking most of the meds prescribed by his former neurologist. Both his daughters warned against it, but he wasn’t feeling much better, was spending too much time on the couch & had blurred vision sometime recently.

The Dr was about to prescribe some different meds to take, instead of the others, and he’d already changed meds once before. So, Jack just said to hell with it. He still takes a coupla pills, plus aspirin for cardiac health, but that’s it.

His memory has improved, but still needs more work - said he forgets things, misplaces tools & starts to do something, but can’t remember what. I told him that was probably the same old-age ‘CRS’ most of us have.

But, he’s getting out of the house a lot more, driving locally & doing most routine things. He even talked about the possibility of getting together with some of his old Army buddies from Vietnam. I’m gonna try helping him with that one, since he still doesn’t have or use a PC.

He also started a major overhaul of an old banged-up ’81 Jeep he previously used for off-roading. To do this, he robbed some body & interior parts off the other Jeep he was driving during the collision 2 yrs ago. I didn’t think it was salvageable, but he’s making it happen, despite the heat, and loving it.

Jack, Eugene has the ring, I saw it on his finger. Eugene gave me a ring of his to hold, until he returned mine. Now he wants to keep the ring and said I could keep his. I'm OK with it. The army ring was something I picked up at an estate sale anyway. Now it's part of Sonny's estate.
That reminds me, Sonny's daughter is the executor and is in a little trouble with the law in California. She drained Sonny's bank account and stopped making his life insurance payments six months ago.
That's why they are arguing, they can't pay for a big funeral.
What a mess.

Rick, sorry to hear about Eugene/Virgil. Does this mean you'll get your ring back? Think Sonny will be in the know about the family plans??
Anybody heard from the Smiths?? Beginning to wonder if they decided to stay on the beach. Can't you get see Sam building sand castles and Sarah trying to bury him in the sand? Just so he wouldn't get sunburned, of course!

Darn it Rick, that's not good news at all.  If the family does no obit at all, the funeral homes will list it but with only basic info.  But, you have to know which funeral home.  Try  legacy.com and see if anything pops up for him.  It may lead you to a funeral home obit.

Sammy - Did you know they are demolishing Kid Country!!!??  I can't believe it!!  Saw in DMN this mrng it was coming down end of July but will rebuild it & reopen in Oct.  Sure hope it's as good as the first one.

AC guys here at 8:00am.  They're doing all the work in the attic first then will replace the outside unit.  Hope to have upstairs AC by lunch!

SNL, here is a new post for you.
Remember my story about the Korean War ring? Eugene said his Uncle Sonny passed away

two and a half weeks ago. His real name is Virgil Brooks of Waco, Tx. I can't find the obit. This is what Eugene told me, Sonny was a veteran of the Korea War and did two tours in Vietnam. Served 18 yrs in the army.
His daughter came from California to his bed side but was arrested by the Waco police when California Police tracked her through the ankle bracelet she failed to remove. The burial is pending because the family can’t decide how to do the funeral, military or civilian or no funeral at all, which probably explains why I can’t find the obit. One thing they have decided on is that it will be in Killeen, Tx.

Not sure where everyone went, but we've been busy entertaining Daniel, one-third of the triplets!  Ft. Wth Zoo on Tue, Spider-Man movie Wed & tda Sandy Lake Park.  Spider-Man was great, Ithink it was the best one yet!  Sandy Lake is still a great place to go with small kids on up to about 14 or 15.  It has Miniature Golf, nice swimming area, rides for the younger ones & also for the older grp.  Train ride & paddle boats too.

Had a little issue happen Sun night.  We got home & turned the AC down, but next mrng the upstairs was still hot.  The upstairs AC went out overnight.  I'm talking about "Dead & Gone" out.  No repairs, need new one.  We moved Daniel's twin mattress dwnstrs to the Den as too hot to sleep upstairs.  AC guys coming tmo mrng to install new AC.  Just a few thousand dollars later we'll be good as new!!      We swap Daniel for Dylan this wkend.

Hope everyone is staying cool as the dog days of summer seem to have crept in on us.  Surely ya'll are inside . . . so why aren't you posting???
