Place: Northwest corner of Brown County Comments: Today, America has experienced a cataclysmic event the likes from which it may never recover. I'm speakiig, of course, of the passing of Coach Darrel Royal. RIP
Place: Coppell Comments: I'm moving to Colorado. With the passing of proposition one making marihuana legal, kinda lends a whole new meaning to "Rocky Mountain High". Sounds to me John Denver was way ahead of his time.
Place: Richardson Comments: Got another cute halloween photo & posted it. This one is from Toni. Be sure to take a look, and if you have missed the last few . . . you may want to look at the Album to see what you've missed!
Place: Sachse Comments: Spent the weekend with another friend & family I have had since our days at Lisbon, the Tillerys. Friday we went west of Houston to Columbus, TX. to the "Live Oaks and Dead Folks fundraiser for the library. Columbus is an old town. It was burned down during the war of Texas Independence. It has lots of huge oak trees. We went on a tour of the Odd fellows Rest Cemetery where we met about 10 "dead" folks. They told us stories of their lives and deaths. Three of the haints were involved in death and told their side of the story of how they came to be dead. The actors did a good job and it was very enjoyable. Saturday we went to an old fashion Soda Shop in Rosenberg. Great hamburgers and malts. On the way, going through Richmond we saw "Sandy McGee's Cafe". Turns out it is really a frilly tea room. Talk about girlie, no wonder he opened it so far away from here. Hard to believe an ex-baseball coach could find his feminine side SO WELL.

Place: Richardson Comments: YES, you did Rick!!! Life is too short to spend our latter yrs working 40 + hrs a week. We need to enjoy some of the fruits of our many yrs of labor. Just think . . . More time for Grandkids, doing home projects and doing things you don't normally do. The really great thing is . . . you can do them during the week and not on the weekend!! Weekends are a lot more fun that way! Congrats Rickypoo, enjoy your new found freedom!
Place: bigD Comments: Hello SOC friends. It seems all the SOCites in Sandy's way must have made it through the storm, I'm so glad. I hope your damage was not too serious. I have good news and bad news. I accepted a voluntary reduction in force and soon will retire. The bad news is I have no idea what the future will bring. Did I do thre right thing??
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Thanks. My birthday was eventful. Connie, Katie, and SOC'66er Betty McKee Wollenberg took me out to dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant, Royal China, in the Preston Royal shopping center. Little did I know that my wife and daughter had put together a surprise party for me when we got home. Several SOCites were there besides Betty McKee Wollenberg. We had Toni and Bruce Jones and Janice Scallorn. I wish all of you could have been there. Please don't throw stones if you did not get invited. I had nothing to do with it, except to be born on Nov. 3. We had a great time. And, I got to show my SOC friends my newly restored French horn. It is the horn I had in school...a handmade Elkhart-Conn 6-D. You can still get the Conn 6-D; but they are no longer handmade. The Elkhart-Conns had a wonderful, mellow, woodsy sound that I just do not hear in the newer models. Enough of the horn talk. We had a wonderful time and I had SOME (not all) of my favorite people in my house, last night.
Place: Orange Comments: Things went ok here. No trees down, no water in the basement, no loss of power. Spent today raking leaves. Sandy didn't knock them all down. Lots of people from the Agency are now in NY or NJ. Lots of my coworkers in the NRCC.
