Place: FW Comments: Happy Birthday, Everett Richardson!
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: It is the end of time as we know it!!!! I just heard on the news that Hostess Twinkies has announced that they are closing! The employees had walked out and if they did not come back by yesterday they would shut down ...... so they did! What a sad day - think of what our grandchildren are going to miss! no fried foods, no hostess twinkies, can't ride a bike without helmets, knee and elbow pads - they can barely peddle, cannot play in front yards without armed guards anymore. How sad! Everything is going away.
Place: SOC 65 Comments: I do not know how many of you from this class know Jerry Vessels from the class of 63, a very sweet and talented individual who worked on reunions for all classes, did the DJ'ing at the SOC Hops, and was a forever friend. Jerry was married to Patricia Edmonson-Vessels for 47 years. Jerry passed away the other day and will truly be missed. Sandy I know you knew Jerry and Pat well, they started up the original SOC 63 site back in the day, filled us with memories of times gone by. He will be surely missed. Services will be posted on the 63 site for Jerry soon. Please pray for the Vessels family. God Bless!
Place: Richardson Comments: I know Jack, hard to to imagine this grp "silent"!!! But I've been really busy buying food & stuff for Thanksgiving & we're finishing up the 4-door-project. Now gotta clean everything up!! I have some very sad news to report. My friend, and a friend to many of us, Jerry Vessels passed away yesterday. his diabetes had gotten bad over the yrs & he was on dialysis 3-4 times a week. Then he had a severe stroke and never recovered. If you ever went to one of Wayne's SOC Hops or to a '63 SOC Luncheon, you know Jerry Vessels! He was the Music Man! The dates & times of his services will be posted on the '63 site so ck there for specifics. Jerry was a friend to everyone & he will be missed by so many.

Place: Richardson Comments: I recvd this info from Dennis Bishop's cousin, Gayle, who was a SOC '68 grad. Dennis is very modest and never talks about his accomplishments, but I thought y'all wd be interested in a fellow classmates success. Dennis & his wife left Hollywood and moved to Ft. Wth about a yr or so before our 45th. He continues to make us proud to be a SOC '66er!! Dennis Bishop to receive LSFF Honors ![]() The genesis of Dennis’ filmmaking career began with a Nikon F camera that his brother Gary gave him and the intimate portrait that he shot of his family’s Christmas. Gary turned those images into a short piece that aired on KERA’s Newsroom with Jim Lehrer. Hooked, Dennis closed his foreign car repair shop to work with documentary filmmaker Jim Murray and learn the basics of filmmaking During the 1980’s -1990’s, the heyday of production in his native Dallas, Dennis quickly moved up the ranks from Assistant Camera to Producer. As a Unit Manager, Producer, Line Producer or Production Executive, Dennis has overseen numerous commercially successful and award winning feature and television productions including: Warner Bros. Local Hero, Horton Foote’s Academy Award winning, The Trip to Bountiful, Universal Pictures’ The Fast and the Furious and acclaimed TV pilot, Dexter for Showtime. As VP of Production for HBO, during their unprecedented Emmy reign, Dennis oversaw 27 films that won 51 major awards including 18 Emmy’s for films such as And the Band Played On. Most recently, Dennis was Consulting Producer on Searching for Sonny and is currently a producer on the documentary film Starck about the iconic Starck Club and its impact on music and the 1980’s in Dallas and beyond. Throughout his 40-year career, Dennis has sought to improve and contribute to his chosen art form and actively support and advocate for the Texas moving image industry. Whether in Los Angeles advocating for his projects to shoot in Texas, acting as a liaison for other producers looking to shoot in Texas, or accommodating Texas filmmakers with LA contacts, Dennis has always believed in giving back to the state and people who contributed to the success of his career. Within Texas, Dennis has donated his time and experience on boards and commissions and has supported the Texas Independent Film community through participation in organizations such as the Dallas Producers Association, Texas Association of Film Tape Professionals, and Texas Motion Picture Alliance and volunteerism as a juror, panelist and advisor to many of the areas filmmakers and film festivals. He served as Director of the Lone Star Film Festival for several years. Dennis has also served as a resource advisor for the Sundance Institute, a moderator and/or panelist at The Actors Studioin NYC, the Sundance Film Festival, SXSW and more. As an educator, Dennis has served as adjunct Professor at USC School of Cinematic Arts; guest lecturer and mentor at SMU, UT Arlington, the Producers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Dennis is proud to be able to pass his experience on to new generations of filmmakers as creator and Chair of the Associate of Applied Arts Degree Program in Motion Picture Production at KD College in Dallas. It is the proud distinction of the Lone Star Film Festival, Fort Worth in Sundance Square to present Dennis Bishop with the Lone Star Film Festival Commitment to Texas Award for his outstanding efforts to support and foster the film community within Texas. His efforts continue to directly impact the development of Texas into a premier state for film production. This honor has previously been awarded to Tom Copeland, John Schrimpf, Don Stokes and Elizabeth Avellan. Bishop will participate in a conversation about his career at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 10th in the Tandy Lecture Hall at the Fort Worth Library. The event is free and open to the public. That same evening he will be honored at the LSFF Filmmaker Awards dinner at the Scat Jazz Lounge in Sundance Square. This event is open to All Acces and Industry Gold pass holders.
