Place: 66erville Comments: I'm thankful for all my friends! Hope you all have a happy, safe Thanksgiving!
Place: 66erville Comments: SNL, what's the news on your car?? Nance, anybody end up with a broke beak?
Place: Calif. Comments: Hey, Smiley. I took the g-kids to a petting zoo today and 2 tukeys got into a fight. One got the stuffing knocked out of him. Happy Thanksgiving.
Place: Cypress springs Comments: I will send you the recipe Ronney...it is good. Let us know how the cake balls turn out...I still have not tried them. Heading to Tammy's tomorrow in Wiley to start cooking. If I do not talk to you guys again have a really great Thanksgiving and stay safe.
Place: Lazy S Ranch Comments: Jack, Von and I have not fired a shot. We have been waiting for Bob and the Bay-Rats (3 g-kids) to get here. We have been seeing turkeys, deer, hogs and the occational fox and bobcat. (the last three we see mostly by way of the cameras at the feeders and it's usually at night.) They arrive sometime today and there should be some gunning going on for the next few days. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
Place: 66erville Comments: Dale, if I had told you 47 years ago anything about cooking or recipes, I would have laughed at me too! I don't know if we have "developed" or not but we certainly have been domesticated. Better? Worse? Who's to say? But it is surely not our father's world anymore! Enjoy your turkey broth. Is it wild turkey? Did you bag one this year??
Place: home where it's safe Comments: Stopped at a resturant on the way home from church last night and as I walked up to the bar to get our drinks I noticed two very large women sitting at the bar. I thought I recognized an accent and while waiting for the drinks I asked "Are you two ladies from Ireland?" One of them said "It's Wales, you idiot!" I said "I'm sorry, are you two whales from Ireland?" I should be able to eat warm turkey broth by Thursday.
Place: Ritchere Comments: Jack, If you had told me 47 years ago you and I would be discussing recipies, the correct amount of ingredients, and convection ovens I would have laughed at you. Last night as I was getting out the Paninnie oven to make a part of Yuvonnes' dinner I was struck by how far we have developed. Uh, I mean, How bout them Cowboys!
Place: 66erville Comments: It is a real challenge trying to make things from old recipes. NOTHING is available in the same sizes or quantities as they were. We make cookies and fudge for my customers every year and getting the correct amounts of the ingredients is one of the biggest challenges. Even the new ranges affect things. The new ones have fans to exhaust the heat after the heat is turned off, so the oven doesn't hold any heat. That makes making forgotten cookies tough.
Place: Richardson Comments: Shorcake, I had forgotten about sending that old recipe out to you & others. It was my mom's very old recipe & the paper has several red stains on it from the food coloring! Glad it turned out good & y'all enjoyed it.Tomorrow I'm going to make Cakeballs! I'm making the desserts to take to my brothers house on Thanksgiving. I'm making Chocolate Fudge Cakeballs & dipping them in dark choc. I'm going to put a drizzle on top & then sprinkle pecans on top. Then I'm making Pumpkin Spice Cakeballs and dipping them in white choc. After I put a drizzle on them I'm going to sprinkle crushed ginger snaps on top. Will also make mini cheesecakes with shaved choc on top of some & fruit on top of others. Will also take a Chess pie, as that's my brother's favorite & I can never bring dessert without bringing one! Wish me luck bec I've never made Cakeballs & dipped anything into choc!! I think they'll taste good, but I'm hoping they also look good! Hope they don't look like I made them blindfolded!! I'm using my family as a "Test" trial run. I plan on serving these at a Christmas party and need to make sure I get in some practice!! I'll let you know by Tue how it went.
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Well, Reynolds-Wrap, would you please share that Red Velvet Cake recipe with me. I love that "fattening" stuff.
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: SNL - made your Red Velvet cake recipe yesterday for a dinner here....turned out great....had forgotten that I had it....we should probably put out a SOC cook book in "your" spare time!!!!!
