Place: Echo, Texas Comments: I just read where a teacher I worked with was arrested at DFW airport today as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide rule and a calculator. Attorney General Eric Holder said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He did not identify my friend by name but said he has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. Al-gebra is a problem for us, the Attorney General said. "They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like " X" and "Y" and refer to themselves as unknowns. We have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the Axis of the medieval with coordinates in many countries. As the Greek philosopher Isosceles once said "there are three sides to every triangle." When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said " If Allah had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes." It is believed that another Nobel Prize will follow.
Place: Richardson Comments: Shortcake - I'm so sorry about the attack on your niece. Plse keep us posted on her recovery. How awful for the parents.
Place: Hog heaven Comments: Yep, it was two-thirds of a pun......PU
Place: Calif. Comments: Smiley, I thought I stole that one from you. It has your name all over it.
Place: Cypress springs Comments: Hey guys...my 16 month old niece was attacked by a Doberman yesterday at her babysitters house. The dog bit her on both sides of her head by her eyes. They are thinking there may be some nerve damage on one side. The owner of the dog has told my nephew that he can shoot the dog if he wants....but that the dog is going to be put down. They have a 2 yr old and since they cannot figure out what made the dog turn they are not taking any chances. Course it would have been better not to leave a dog that size around small children alone to start with! Anyway would appreciate you keeping Gracie in your prayers. Her daddy is a marine and has just gotten back from his third tour in Afghanistan. It is going to be a tough Christmas getting her through this.
Place: Richardson Comments: Rick - They say when you retire that everything slows down. I think your last post speaks for itself!!
Place: 66erville Comments: Rick, are you just now waking up from your Thanksgiving day nap??
Place: bigD Comments: HaPPY Thanksgiving everyone.
Place: Cypress springs Comments: SNL....was not sure about the pan ....just knew that I had seen then in the stores lately and did not know if they were any good or not.
Place: SOC 65 Comments: SNL did you know Larry Hagman's mom was "Mary Martin", she played Peter Pan for years and years, a very talented actress in her day too.
Place: Richardson Comments: Cakeball pan!!!?? Geeeezz! No, I made each little CB by rolling the dough between by hands & hand dipping them with a toothpick into the melted choc. Ea batch made approx 50 CBs. Had a great Thanksgiving Day at my brothers house & then everyone came over to our house on Fri. We had beef stew & cornbread with leftover desserts, plus a fresh peach cobbler. Hope everybody has a safe and wonderful 4-day Thaksgiving holiday, 1 more day left! I was so sad last night when I heard Larry Hagman passed away Fri. He was such a good actor and also very gererous with his time and money here in Dls. He gave to lots of the schools Arts Programs & handed out some of the awards. Most of the kids talking with him had no idea who he was. JR was before their time! I rarely missed a Fri night episode of Dallas. Who amoung us can forget the summer of "Who shot JR?" He was such a good actor, the phrase most used to describe him was, "the man we most loved to hate!". He will be missed!
Place: Cypress Springs Comments: SNL..did you use a cakeball pan or what?
Place: Grosvenor,Texas Comments: Richard, That's funny about the turkeys. Mind if I use it? Happy Thanksgiving To All. Don't forget to set your scales back 10 pounds at midnight.

Place: Richardson Comments: Been really busy since Monday, but here's the deal on the Cakeballs & my car. As soon as we got ck from lady's Ins Co & deposited it, Don took car to Lexus Dealer to be repaired. Had it 3 and half days & he went to pick it up. Got home & we were inspecting it. the bumper & everything looked really good & we were pleased UNTIlL we noticed they didn't fix the exhaust pipe! It was still cattywhompus! This was on a Fri evening. I cld Supv & said I was bringing it bk Monday morning & not happy about them forgetting it!! On Monday I waited while they rechecked the problem & son-of-a-gun . . . the Y connection in bk that connects the dual exhaust was cracked! Left it Mon & picked it up Wed. It looks like new & the really really good news . . . Ins Co paid us more than it cost to fix it!!!! They also included rent car money & Lexus always gives me another Lexus to drive for free. The Cakeballs came out delicious. But had no idea how persnickety choc could be when melting it & dipping CBs into it. Yikes!!! But they look pretty darn good, especially after I put the top decorations on them. At least i won't be embarrassed tmo! My mini cheesecakes are cooling . If i can just get them out of the mini tins without them cracking I will be a happy camper. Only thing left to do is make Oje his Cheese pie & cook supper.HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL MY SOC FRIENDS. And I'll 2nd that emotion Jack . . . I'm also thankful for all my SOC friends, each and every one of you!!! |
