Place: Grosvenor Comments: There once was a leader of a tribe in Africa that demanded everyone bring all of their gold to him and he had it melted and cast into a throne from which he would rule. When stories began circulating that a larger tribe to the South had plans to steal the throne the king had a second floor added to his grass hut and hid the throne in the loft. However, one night a terrible storm blew in and the rain weakened the straw hut and the wind shook the house so that the throne fell through the grass floor and killed the king sleeping underneath. Of course there is a moral to this sad tale: " People that live in grass houses shouldn't store thrones."
Place: back at the Lazy S Ranch Comments: John,John, John, You will never get this group to believe I would tell such a terrible pun. And once again, Thanks for picking up our breakfast tab. I really enjoyed the visit.
Place: Southlake Comments: SNL, did you get my email of Kinley's pics
Place: Denny's @ The Woodlands, TX Comments: Dale was in our fair city last weekend and we met for breakfast Saturday morning at the local Denny's. We chatted about the cruise he and Yuvonne took in December on the ill-fated Carnival Triumph. Other travel talk centered on his trip a few years back to Paris (France). Dale says if I ever go there I have to visit the well-known 1,000 ft. tall landmark. "When you get to the tower", he continued, "go stand underneath it ... right smack dab in the center. Then lean your head back and look straight up ... all the way to the tippy top ... then close your eyes". "What happens then?" I asked. "You fall over backwards", he said. "That's why they call it the 'I-fell' Tower".
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Congrats, David. You will love being a granddaddy. It's very easy. Just love them, hold them, kiss and hug them, and spoil them rotten (against their parents' wishes). Make them know they are special to you, and you will get tons of love back in return.
Place: Richardson Comments: That's funny David! But the spelling isn't as important as the hugs, kisses & love from you!! But then, you're having a hard time with your own name! ![]() Congrats . . . you're going to be a wonderful Grandpa!

Place: bigd Comments: Hay SNL,I have been restoring some old antiques that were in my barn for the last couple of years, waiting to be cared for. an old Mission rocker that I bought at a garage sale and another chair that is so strange (different) looking that I can't identify it. I finished a chest of drawers that I planed to take to auction but Marilyn put it in the upstairs bedroom. I'm working on a child's oak roll top desk now. We take short trips out of town and stop at antique stores along the way. Sally, The TV news said that bluebonnets may bloom late this year because of the lack of rain. So before you come to Texas ask for a bluebonnet report on the guest book.
Place: Garland UA Comments: Shortcake...who was that bearded guy in a suit? That's the first time I've ever seen that bearded guy in a suit! His better half was also looking quiet lovely as well!!! Great picture of all of them!
Place: cold NYC Comments: that was some stuff you had in your garage , Rick. Sounds like it was so nice, you should have had it in the house! Walking to work this am I was listening to Roger Creager and the words made me homesick for TX-they are "I guess you were right. Bluebonnets are worth the drive" i have not seen them for a few years now! maybe this spring!
Place: Garland Comments: Hey jack.....just posted Merrill's pics to my timeline in Facebook so you could see them from the the banquet last night. Recognized everyone except that guy with the beard!
Place: Richardson Comments: Nice to hear from you Rick! You explained where you've been the last few days /week, but what have you been doing since you retired late last yr?? Wow, 2K for allowing someone to get rid of "stuff" in your garage. Now you have room for more stuff . . . good move!
Place: Sacchse Comments: Rod, your grandchildren are adorable. Love the photo. Doc, congrats to you on having your first grandchild. They are so much fun to spoil.
Place: bigD Comments: Hay everyone, I noticed this cold morning that there was some small hail on the ground around the house and it rained too. I have been rearranging the stuff in the garage the last couple of days. Mare and I went to Granberry two weeks ago and I happened to mention to the guy at the antique store that I had some things in the garage I would sell, so He came to take a look and bought some stuff. Then he returned with his wife the next week and bought more, to the tune of 2K. I down sized my old radio and camera collections. So now I have more room to put more stuff. |
