Place: Richardson Comments: Me and my fat fingers hit wrong key before ready. 😯 Sorry. Anyway, I found the rehab place I want last night and I confirmed this morning it's on our ins plan. Not sure when the transfer from NCCU to rehab will be maybe Sun or Mon, probably as soon as paperwork is done. The rehab place is Remington and it's on Lookout at plano rd in Richardson. Only 6 easy miles from my house, unlike the hard 26 miles out hwy 75 to downtown and around and thru that horrible mixmater and then to Colorado blvd. Don has been thru so much the last 4 weeks and then the surgery, I wanted him to have a nice rehab place to get strong and well again. I showed him the brochure and he seemed pleased. Thanks to all of you and the many prayer lists we have been on I believe he is on the way to a full recovery and pain free. ❣️
Place: Richardson Comments: Been a busy 24 hours. Don is doing well and has been doing some short walks in the hall. Keep in mind that's with a walker and someone with him. Since he was down and out for 4 weeks prior to this one, he has lost all his muscle mass and is very weak. Got news yesterday Dr approved him to go to rehab so can get his strength back and on his feet again. I wanted to make sure he was at a clean, nice and fully staffed place. Since Aug 10th he's been in 4 ERs at 3 different hospitals. All were terrible! Over crowded and under staffed! He was admitted to 2 hospitals and neither were very good. This Neuro Critical Care unit is the best by far.
Place: Does Moines, IA Comments: Great news about Charles! Prayers will continue for all. ❤️ I’m in rockin’ 😉 Des Moines for a Jim Curry concert. Jim is a great JD tribute musician and singer. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Place: NH Comments: I spoke with Charles this morning. Successful surgery and he is home resting.
Place: Waller Comments: Sandy, That is GREAT News on Don! Yea, God, Thank you Lord!! HE answers prayers. We will continue to pray. Everyone - Have a great fall weekend! Janice
Place: OKC Comments: Aaaaaaaaargh. Colorado Blvd El Fenix is permanently closed. Everyone is going to have to use a different hospital instead of Methodist, or is it Baylor? I forget. 🥸
Place: OKC Comments: Doesn’t seem like it could have turned out any better! Praise God!! Allow me this one bit of nonsense: cannot help it, but when you talk about Colorado Blvd, my mind goes right to the El Fenix. Yes, I am a hopeless case. Now, here’s to Charles.
Place: Atlanta Comments: That is wonderful news Sandy! I cannot imagine how stressful and terrifying this has been for you all. Prayers that it does truly last a lifetime and Don will get back to living a pain free life. And I agree with everyone else; don’t forget to take care of yourself too. Thanks for sharing this wonderful news.
Place: Richardson Comments: Yesterday afternoon Dr Meyrat, the neurosurgeon, came to see us and everything looks good. Did CT scan on head and no bleeding or clots. He has no numbness on his face and is talking easily. Dr said it was a success and should last a lifetime. It was scary right before the surgery when Dr kept telling us all the things that could go wrong and possible side effects when cutting into skull and separating nerves. But, none of those happened and I thank each of you for the prayers as they were answered. 🙏🙏 Just so you know, once I pull out of my driveway I don't pick up the phone for text or calls. Driving hwy 75 and navigating thru the mix master to get to Colorado Blvd is a challenge in itself! 😯 Sometimes its later in day before I can respond. I've been telling Don all the friends that have been praying for him and sending well wishes. It makes him smile. Gotta go. 💖
Place: McKinney, TX Comments: We are so glad to hear that everything went well with Don’s surgery. Now he can tackle the road to recovery…just as soon as he can eat and drink again! Thanks for updating all of us, Sandy. Be sure to remember to take good care of yourself too! Keeping Charles in our thoughts and prayers for his procedure tomorrow as well and praying for his speedy recovery.
Place: Overland Park, KS Comments: Such good news about Don! A collective exhale! Prayers will continue for you and Don, Sandy. Now on to Charles! 🙏💕
Place: North Richland Hills Comments: So good to hear the good report on Don! Much love to you both, Sandy!
Place: McKinney. TX Comments: Sandy, Thanks for the update. Now Don can be on the road to feeling good again. Take care of yourself and get rest. Your “job” isn’t over; just going into another phase. Linda
Place: Richardson Comments: Sorry for late day update Hard to do when you're either fighting traffic to or from or in hospital room. It was 9pm last night before we got to see Don and only for about 2 minutes. Almost 10pm when I got home. He was still pretty groggy this morning but able to talk which is an improvement. They're hoping he can begin to eat something tonight. So far so good. Big scar behind right ear but give it a bit and the pain will ease. At least there's no Trigeminal shocks!! Thank you God. Thanks to this wonderful SOC warrior gang for all the prayers. Y'all are truly the best. Now, let's all pray for a successful surgery for our friend Charles. If I hear anything I'll let you know. Gotta go as need to try to get home before dark tonight and I have 2 more stops I have to make.
