You're right Paul and Susan.  It can be overwhelming.  I've got new PC up and running on Windows 11 and new MS Ofc 365 loaded on it. Also my new email wit gmail up and running so I'm feeling pretty good.  Still need to transfer my files from old to new PC but that takes concentration and not ready today to do that.  LOL

Don't forget my new email is   sandylynn754@gmail.com

Sandy, good luck with the new computer and the new Office or 365 as they're now calling it.  I went through the same thing when I got home from rehab. It seemed like EVERYTHING had changed.   Gen 3 was no longer available so I had to get a new computer.  And Office (which I knew inside and out) had changed.  All the functions are still there, but you have to find them.

Sandy, while current technology provides capabilities we would never have imagined during our SOC years, I believe it is far more problematic and annoying than tech cheerleaders would want us to believe. I find it quite “buggy” and aggravating at times but the providers seldom seem to acknowledge that. Of course, we also live in an age of “actually acknowledge the problems with what I provide you? Why that would make me feel bad about myself.” 🤫

Folks, after 18 years my email has changed!  Please make note of my new email effective now!
sandylynn754@gmail.com
Among all the other chaos going on in our lives, my 12 y.o.PC running Windows 7 died! Go figure?! [rofl]  Plus AT&T locked me out of my longtime Em for 35 days.  I have it up now but I've had it fighting with AT&T.  I'm trying hard to get this new PC running Windows 11 and a new MS Office package up and going.  As soon as I can I will have to change so very many places with my new Em.  Feel free to spread the word about my new Em to any SOCite wanting it. At least now I can get access to the website and Gb and Fb from a PC and not my darn small cell phone!

Sometimes I wonder . . .   are smart phones, smart PCs and all this smart technology really worth it?  [confused]  [crazy]

I do not think to go to this site as often as I should.
Sorry I missed so much, I was at I believe the last mini and  enjoyed it.
Just live up a short ways North in Denton. I do make it down occasionally to Pleasant Grove to visit.
WE moved their in my 2nd year of college; and my mother still lives there (she tuned 99 July 30th). My brother takes care of her, he is a a 1964 SOC graduate.  He also attended Lisbon, Oliver and Boude Storey.

I will try to check the site out more frequently. Sorry to hear all the passings.

In other sad news, I lost a long-time friend from the old neighborhood who attended Oliver, Boude Storey & SOC, plus, we joined the Coast Guard together and left for boot camp only 2 weeks out of high school – David Hamm.

He was single and living in Alba, TX, (NW of Tyler) at the time of his passing, 9/21.  A neighbor with access to his house discovered him alone at home.

When I spoke to him only 3 weeks or so beforehand, he was in good spirits (as always) and never shared any medical info that might’ve caused his sudden death.

I’m still awaiting word on the official cause, as well as a date for his service at D/FW national cemetery, and will follow-up.

I had to go back a dozen or so pages to get caught up, but think I’m there now.

Sandy – I’m very sorry to hear that Don had to endure another bout with Trigeminal nerve pain.  But, I’m glad you were able to find a good neuro-surgeon who hopefully eliminated these terrible episodes from recurring.  I also send my sincere condolences for the loss of Don’s mom during this ordeal.  I can’t imagine the stress level this put both of you through, not to mention personal sadness.  I hope you’re both getting well-deserved R&R.

I was also saddened to read the news of Jimmy Martin’s passing.  Like so many already posted, he was very well-liked and one of those people who “never met a stranger”.  He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  I wasn’t able to attend his ‘Celebration of Life’ service, but watched portions of the vimeo recording – very nice and well-attended.

After the funeral home in Houston wasted 3days because they couldn't meet with us, today, we got confirmation on being able to have burial services on Tuesday. Not sure why we got the run around but at least now we can move forward.
Don and I are so grateful to have such good friends like all of you. We greatly appreciate your support and all your prayers. That's what got us through all this.
