Don,

Thank you for putting this video honoring all our veterans.  Randall and I will watch this later this morning together.

It's a little early, but Thanksgiving will be here next week.  We are wishing all of our classmates and their families a great and safe Thanksgiving!

Don, I just watched the video.  No doubt that has taken a lot of time and effort, but I know it's an effort of love and respect.  The result is impressive and you deserve kudos.  I saw a lot of guys' pictures that I recognized but didn't really 'know' during the school years, some I did know.  Thank you for putting it all together.

Don, I watched the video.  Man, the memories flooded back into my head when I saw all my classmates! Very emotional.  You have done such a great job over the years keeping the Vet database update and it is very well done.  Thank you for creating it and keeping it current!  Great job!!

Repeating the text of an e-mail sent to all SOC '66 vets earlier:

Greetings all – Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting this out to you.  I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed a peaceful, reflective Veterans Day.

This year’s video slide-show contains a few updates:
  • 3 veterans recently passed away and have small crosses added alongside their names – Charles ‘Rick’ Mitchell, Jimmy Martin & David Hamm.
  • Jack Sanders finally provided a military photo, and following Jimmy Martin’s memorial service, Bovie managed to obtain a military photo of him from his wife.
  • New additions to the vets roster and slide-show, thanks to tips from Roe Burrow - Tom Jarvis (military photo not available now, but coming soon) & William Junell (died in a single car crash in ’70 & buried at Laurel Land – photos of him found on FB & headstone on ‘Find-a-Grave’) – both Army Vietnam vets.

Here’s the link – I intend to let it run all weekend:

Best regards to all!  - Don

Carol - Many thanks for your kind words and thoughtful sentiments regarding David's passing.  It's still hard to believe he passed so suddenly.  But, we're all at that age where opening a newspaper, viewing the GB, or answering the phone comes with a bit of risk and dread.

David's service was brief, as usual for a VA cemetery - about 20 min.  A senior petty officer from a Dallas area CG unit played taps and delivered a folded U. S. flag to his son.  I delivered a framed copy of his SOC '66 vet slide - it appears near the end of the upcoming Vets Day slide-show.

Among the other family & friends was a couple from SOC '64 who graduated with his brother, Johnnie Hamm.  I'm still awaiting word on an obit.  Thanks again!

Dane, always good to hear from you!  Hopefully we will all be able to have another Get-Together soon and hope you and Debbie can make it. It would be really good to see you again!  Glad you still have that endearing sense of humor!  Sandy Lynn

Hey y’all, Asshole here. I’m still alive,  not like the Dood Lord sent me here🤩🤩. I don’t go fast anymore, got a fake leg, use a walker, wheelchair, supposed to be using a cane now, but the old brain has balance issues. Sure do miss you old friends,  very special to me. I truly hope all is well as life will allow. I don’t do Facebook anymore, still do a little aggravation now and then.  Take care, may we meet again. Love y’all.

Thinking about David Hamm today. I planned to attend his service but circumstances prevented me from being there. I hope that others were able to join Don to honor David. Rest well, David - and thank you for your service to this great country of ours. 🙏🇺🇸🙏

Folks -

I’ve been advised that David Hamm’s memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM CT, on Tue., 08 Nov., 2022, at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

I’m trying to assist his family with info regarding VA burial benefits, plus trying to arrange for support of a small CG honor guard or team to render military honors during his ceremony.

More to follow …
