Place: Overland Park, KS Comments: For some reason the veterans link isn’t showing for me. Suggestions?
Place: Richardson Comments: Don, I watched the video. Man, the memories flooded back into my head when I saw all my classmates! Very emotional. You have done such a great job over the years keeping the Vet database update and it is very well done. Thank you for creating it and keeping it current! Great job!!
Place: LV, TX Comments: Repeating the text of an e-mail sent to all SOC '66 vets earlier: Greetings all – Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting this out to you. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed a peaceful, reflective Veterans Day. This year’s video slide-show contains a few updates:
Here’s the link – I intend to let it run all weekend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOmN07eGRYQ Best regards to all! - Don
Place: LV, TX Comments: Carol - Many thanks for your kind words and thoughtful sentiments regarding David's passing. It's still hard to believe he passed so suddenly. But, we're all at that age where opening a newspaper, viewing the GB, or answering the phone comes with a bit of risk and dread. David's service was brief, as usual for a VA cemetery - about 20 min. A senior petty officer from a Dallas area CG unit played taps and delivered a folded U. S. flag to his son. I delivered a framed copy of his SOC '66 vet slide - it appears near the end of the upcoming Vets Day slide-show. Among the other family & friends was a couple from SOC '64 who graduated with his brother, Johnnie Hamm. I'm still awaiting word on an obit. Thanks again!
Place: Wet & Cold in Richardson Comments: Dane, always good to hear from you! Hopefully we will all be able to have another Get-Together soon and hope you and Debbie can make it. It would be really good to see you again! Glad you still have that endearing sense of humor! Sandy Lynn
Place: Plano Comments: Hey y’all, Asshole here. I’m still alive, not like the Dood Lord sent me here🤩🤩. I don’t go fast anymore, got a fake leg, use a walker, wheelchair, supposed to be using a cane now, but the old brain has balance issues. Sure do miss you old friends, very special to me. I truly hope all is well as life will allow. I don’t do Facebook anymore, still do a little aggravation now and then. Take care, may we meet again. Love y’all.
Place: Overland Park, KS Comments: Thinking about David Hamm today. I planned to attend his service but circumstances prevented me from being there. I hope that others were able to join Don to honor David. Rest well, David - and thank you for your service to this great country of ours. 🙏🇺🇸🙏
Place: LV, TX Comments: Folks - I’ve been advised that David Hamm’s memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM CT, on Tue., 08 Nov., 2022, at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Susan! Now that I've got access to our soc website I have to go in and change all the many places. 🤪 But I'm working on it and checking off my list.
Place: North Richland Hills, TX Comments: FYI, I just changed your address on my email list, Sandy.
Place: Richardson Comments: You're right Paul and Susan. It can be overwhelming. I've got new PC up and running on Windows 11 and new MS Ofc 365 loaded on it. Also my new email wit gmail up and running so I'm feeling pretty good. Still need to transfer my files from old to new PC but that takes concentration and not ready today to do that. LOL Don't forget my new email is sandylynn754@gmail.com
Place: North Richland Hills, TX Comments: Sandy, good luck with the new computer and the new Office or 365 as they're now calling it. I went through the same thing when I got home from rehab. It seemed like EVERYTHING had changed. Gen 3 was no longer available so I had to get a new computer. And Office (which I knew inside and out) had changed. All the functions are still there, but you have to find them.
Place: OKC Comments: Sandy, while current technology provides capabilities we would never have imagined during our SOC years, I believe it is far more problematic and annoying than tech cheerleaders would want us to believe. I find it quite “buggy” and aggravating at times but the providers seldom seem to acknowledge that. Of course, we also live in an age of “actually acknowledge the problems with what I provide you? Why that would make me feel bad about myself.” 🤫
Place: Richardson Comments: Folks, after 18 years my email has changed! Please make note of my new email effective now! sandylynn754@gmail.com Among all the other chaos going on in our lives, my 12 y.o.PC running Windows 7 died! Go figure?! Plus AT&T locked me out of my longtime Em for 35 days. I have it up now but I've had it fighting with AT&T. I'm trying hard to get this new PC running Windows 11 and a new MS Office package up and going. As soon as I can I will have to change so very many places with my new Em. Feel free to spread the word about my new Em to any SOCite wanting it. At least now I can get access to the website and Gb and Fb from a PC and not my darn small cell phone!Sometimes I wonder . . . are smart phones, smart PCs and all this smart technology really worth it?
Place: Denton Comments: I do not think to go to this site as often as I should. Sorry I missed so much, I was at I believe the last mini and enjoyed it. Just live up a short ways North in Denton. I do make it down occasionally to Pleasant Grove to visit. WE moved their in my 2nd year of college; and my mother still lives there (she tuned 99 July 30th). My brother takes care of her, he is a a 1964 SOC graduate. He also attended Lisbon, Oliver and Boude Storey. I will try to check the site out more frequently. Sorry to hear all the passings. |
