Bobby is pretty sore and right now he is still using my walker ....although not as much. He is going to be housebound for another week I think.
Mom....not so well. We have someone with her 24/7. And that does not help at times. Dr. Said congestive heart failure is worse and there is really nothing he can do at this point.

Shortcake, my Mom is 95 and living alone at home. we have therapists coming in to
help out but I'm going over almost every day to do something for her. She calls
even when a light bulb is out. Everything is an emergency when you're 95.
Marilyn says she just wants company so she calls me over to do or repair something.

I took a trip to Waco last week, had a great time. We went to the Texas Ranger
Museum, Dr. Pepper Museum among other places. Antique stores were on our list too.

Jack, nobody is answering your phone. The radio is working and ready to go.
Can you pick it up before it quits again? LOL  [smile]

Funny Jack.  No, we're still using the upstairs bath, but I can tell you this, by late evening when I'm ready to get ready for bed . . .  those stairs are daunting!!  Sometimes it's all I can do to climb them.  But, good news on the home front!  After careful consideration, lots of calculations and some hard thinking, Don isn't going to rip apart the wooden shutters & fan shutter that goes above it!  YEA!!!!!  Instead he is now going to put up the green trim around the edges and then put the shutters back like they were and on top of the tile.  Yea!!!!

I'm so happy about how it has all turned out.  It's actually prettier than I thought it would be.  It's hard to visualize how it will all look when you are picking out lots of pieces and different, yet coordinating, pieces.  But it has all come together and Don has done an excellent job making the transformation.

You're not fooling anybody, SNL.  You are just looking for a place to shower and you'll say you are just watering the lawn!

Shortcake, how is Bobby doing?  He's probably sore, but hopefully he's able to move around without too much discomfort.  Also, how's your quest for getting help with your mom coming?

It's almost Fall!  By this weekend the temps are going to drop some and I think the worst will be behind us.  Let's hope it's a wet winter . . .  I'm so tired of this water rationing and not being able to give enough water to the lawn!

Shortcake, sorry to hear of your mom. My brothers and I went through the same with our mom. Prayers for you and her.
Just got back from our weekly trek to Home Depot. Ordered a water heater. This old one is a 1997 model.

Oh Shortcake, I'm, so sorry your mom is having so much difficulty.  It is truly not easy taking care of a parent when they can no longer take care of themselves.  But we do it because we love them.  Good thoughts and wishes for you as you go forward.  Just remember . . .  take it one day at a time.

How frightening it must have been watching Bobby fall and hit the ground!!  12 ft is high!  He's lucky he didn't break anything.  I'm sure he will be sore all over but so glad it didn't have a worse outcome.  You better take care of yourself, you're Last Man Standing!

Sammy - I always was a sucker for a cute guy . . .  so yes hugs & kisses are in order!!!

Thanks for the birthday wish Sandy. Charles and I decided it would be nice to get 66 birthday hugs each at the mini. Heck even a few kisses.

SNL - if you plan a trip out-of-town - that is the only way to stop the building [frown]

On two more serious notes:  We have had to get help with Mom 24/7.  She is not doing well at all.  I now that some of you have already been through this.  It just brings me to tears every time I am there.  She says she does not know what is happening to her because one minute she feels fine and the next she will fall or cannot remember something etc.

Yesterday Bobby and neighbors were trimming trees here and the ladder shifted - Bobby fell from about 12 ft up.  He did not break anything but we did call 911 and they did  x-rays.  He will be extremely sore for awhile.  He does not remember a lot about it.  The worst feeling (other then being him) is to look out there and see him falling from the ladder.  Could not get there fast enough.  Really did scare me.[bawl]

Forgot to mention I talked with Charles yesterday and he spent time with his mom and said it was a good day.  He sounded much better than the last time and I was glad he had a nice B-day.

REMINDER TO ALL:  At the end of this month on Saturday, Sept. 27th we will have our Fall Get-Together!!  Please mark your calendar and make plans to be there.  All the details are on our EVENT pg., but it will be 2 to 6 at the Hyatt in Richardson.  NE corner of Hwy 75 & Campbell Rd.

As we've learned . . . Life is a trip with unexpected turns.  Come see your friends while you or they still can!!

For those still working, Enjoy your day off for Labor Day!!!

Sorry SNL, you just live too far west. We got a nice rain last night. First the bottom dropped out and we had a downpour for about 20 minutes. Then a good steady rain for about 15 minutes. Then a downpour for 20 minutes, followed by a steady rain for about 30 minutes. The wind whipped the rain all around the house, pounding the windows on all sides. Cleared the air and brought that fresh, clean smell. We enjoyed every minute of it.
