Place: McKinney Comments: I read a post about the Ray Rice scandal. Something I learned when my daughter taught Spanish at Desoto Hi about 5 years ago. The black teachers in her department appeared surprised that Ryan had never been in a fight. There were about 3 other teachers and they had all been in a fight. Ryan told them that she wouldn't get into a fight because that wasn't how she resolved conflict, besides she would not only have gotten in trouble in school, but then she would have gotten in trouble at home. One of the teachers told her that her grandmother would be mad at her if she hadn't gotten into a fight to stand up for herself, etc. I think that physical abuse is horrible, but when that type of behavior has been in a person's lifestyle, parents' lifestyle, etc. it's hard to change. Education, time, time, time and some harsh consequences.

Place: Richardson Comments: Robert, you must be mighty skinny! 140 lbs!! That's high sch weight! BMF stands for Brandon Michael Fugate. He was Donnie & Barbara Fugate's grandson who drowned in lake Ray Hubbard a few yrs ago. Their family started a charity foundation that provides all types of equipment to search & rescue teams who recover those who have drown. If you go to www.thebmfproject.org it will give you the story of what happened more detailed info on what they do and why. It's a great organization and they provide much needed eq.
Place: Fort Collins, Co. Comments: Howdy Flatlanders, you have no idea how much I miss the Lone Star State. If I was not so dang old I would come home for awhile. I am 67 now and hoping for another ten years, with hoping and praying the Lord does come back soon. I never thought I would be a 140 lbs. Doctor is on my case to gain some weight. Place: Garland Comments: As a lot of you know, we are having our 6th BMF Golf Tournament on Friday September 26, 2014. After the golf, we have a grilled burger/chicken combo buffet w/ all the trimmings, potato salad, beans & fruit cobbler or gourmet cookies w/ ice tea. It is only $15 a person and proceeds benefit The BMF Project. We invite all our friends to join us even if you are not a golfer. just let us know before Thursday if you would like to attend. Thank you Also, Barb and I are hosting a cocktail hour from 630 - 10 on Thursday 9/25/14. Beer and wine and snacks will be available. Let us know if you can come.
Place: Dallas Comments: Karen, I am so glad that Bobby is doing better. I do hope you can keep him off of the ladders!!! I know how hard it is to go through this with your Mom. Sandy is right Hospice would be a great help to you and Linda and they would also be great to keep your Mom from suffering. I am praying for you and your family and for your Mom. Thank goodness you have a good Dr. and one that will be honest with you.
Place: Richardson Comments: It's OK to tell us how difficult it is Shortcake, most of us have been thru it already. Hospice can be a blessing in disguise. Talk with the Dr. about it and I bet he can give you a number to call. They can keep your mom from suffering and be very helpful to you & your sister. I'm so sorry for the pain your mom is in and the pain you also feel. It's one of the hardest things we have to do in our lives . . . being a parent to our parents! Prayers for you & your sister, as well as your mom.

Bobby is getting better....thanks for the really cute card! Mom is not. Linda and I were talking about what the next step we need to take is. We are going to have to talk to someone that knows more than us! Which will not be hard to do! The Dr. just told us she is coming to the end of her life. He was not being cruel. He is a longtime friend and also took care of Daddy. He felt honesty was best. I just hate seeing her go through the things she is now. It is kind of like you do not want to let them go but after watching them go through some of these things (dementia, etc) it is almost a relief for them.
Oh well..so much for my problems!
Place: Richardson Comments: McMakin - there are so many things wrong with the Ray Rice & Janay situation. Don't get me started!!! I guess I'm still shocked and befuddled by the fact that 5 weeks after he coldcocks her in the elevator . . . she marries him!!!! ![[eek]](/images/boards/smilies/eek.gif "Eek - :eek:") But like you said in your opening line, they do like that "life style" the money brings them. Only problem is the money ain't going to be coming in anymore. Nike also dropped him today. Hope he saved some of that 25 million he was paid the past two yrs. We'll see how those vows hold up, especially the part about for richer or poorer!! That's it, I'm through.Waiting for Thursday when the cool front comes thru! High on Friday is 79!!!! Marsalis. Haha!!! If nothing else, that snake has given Toni and me a lot of joking around with one another.

I thought this class had walked away from stuff like that and were into political discussions. Oh Well...old habits are hard to change...ask Hawkins...he got another date request from McGee for the BMF golf outing. Hope all are doing well and or at least better. |
