Sarah and I are watching the weather and see where there is a tornado touching down in Paradise, Tx. Any of you know of a Socite that lives there?

Thank you Tanya!  Yes, I too would have thought they would have at least posted a note on the GB but then it's not my call.  I appreciate the info abt the '65 50th reunion.  I guess they aren't interested in inviting other classmates as no posts were made on the other websites.  But each class is different, so if I see that I can go I will contact Phyllis and as "to whom" and where to I send my check?

As for the class of '66 50th reunion . . .  Well, I will start to look for and asking for proposals from several hotels to see how much I can get from them for our money!!  Once a contract is signed (can't be anymore than a year out from the date) I will post the date here and on our EVENTS pg.  It will be held in mid to late Sept of 2016, or, at the latest early Oct.  My mind has already begun to put together ideas and activities.  Always looking for different things to do!  Will be posting "things to think about and look for" shortly.

Sandy, I do not know if you received a note from the SOC 65 committee on your comment on the site.  I tried to respond to it when I received my invitation to the 50th, but unfortunately posts have to be reviewed by the committee before allowing a post to show up.  Do not understand that, but may be a glitch in the system.  In any case, this is the info I received:  65 50th Reunion will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott, John !Q. Hammons Center, 210 East Stay Road, Allen, Tx 75002.  Saturday evening September 12, 2015.  It will be a one night affair, casual dress.  Blocked rooms at $99 per night and Reunion cost $50.00 per person. If you have any questions please contact Phyllis Kelley as she is in charge of this reunion.  Email is plkelley@yahoo.com.  Hope this helps some and sorry you did not receive answers on the site.  They are rebuilding it and that may be the problem.

I know exactly what you are saying Jack. Luckily for me the old tools I have are mostly hand tools, but I seldom use the hand saws, it's much easier to use the battery saws that cut it by hand. I also have little use for the horse logging tools but I do have one of my Great Grandad's single tree for hitching the horses to the log and one of his tongs that were used to hook into the log itself. Some of Dad's older electric tools like the skill saw and drill I was able to find a good home for but the rest I would have trouble getting rid of. Since I have no one to inherit more tools from the next set that someone will get are mine.

Old tools are sometimes a problem. I have a lot of "outdated" tools. Brace and bits, hand drills, several sizes of hand planers and so on. I even have a set of metal working tools from my Grandfather's days of body and fender work. With all the power tools these days, not much use for the hand/arm driven stuff, yet I can't bring myself to get rid of them. Too many memories of watching them being used and be taught how to use them properly. So there they remain, taking up space that could be better used, but won't. And when I'm gone no one will know what to do with them or even why I kept them. But until then, I'll run across them when looking for something else, I'll pause or even stop and recall something special about that tool and smile.

When my Grandad passed I got many of his tools, some dating back to his days horse logging. When Dad passed 10 years ago I got his and the rest of Grandad's, many of them older than I am. It's hard to get very far away from hand tools at my place, there's a tool box in most areas, the truck, the car, the trailer and an out building. Then there's the shop where there seem to be more tools than space but then I haven't had to buy a tool in a long time.

I always buy Craftsman tools. I have other brands but not because I bought them.

They have always replaced a tool that I returned. I hope we never loose Sears.
Craftsman tools are the BEST. And you can quote me on that.

I "worked" out of Dad's toolboxes until 1968 when I bought my 1st Craftsman's set. A small box filled with a 1/2" drive socket set and wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers. It didn't take up much space, but had everything I thought I would need. Added a few clamps and tape and other odds and ends over the years till it was full. Carried it in my trunk for years, saved my bacon more than once. I had to buy a metric set up when I was driving my brother's TR-3. When doing remodeling work I bought and filled both electrical and plumbing toolboxes, almost all the tools from Sears.  I currently need a couple of ignition pliers. Channel-Lock seems to no longer make any that small and all the Sears in the area either don't carry them or are sold out. Anyone runs across a pair, get them and I'll pay you back for them.

Rod, I started out w/the Craftmans special 400 piece set for Christmas from Mom & Dad 1959. Since then some 50-plus yrs later I have inherited many other brands, Snapon, Cornwell, Kalbolt, & lots of Harbor Freight specials. Looking forward to turning all over to my son & Grandsons when the time comes.

I love it that you still have those two toolboxes fro your granddad!  it's a sad state, but it is true, "They don't make 'em like they used to!"  The old quality made items last forever, the newer more expensive things break within a relatively short time.

My Grandad started me on Craftsman tools at 9 yrs I think. He got me a tool box with my name painted in it and had some hand tools in it. Then every birthday and at Christmas he always got me more Craftsman. I still have them and in the same tool box.
When I started driving truck for him he got me a smaller one with more tools in it and I still have that one too, and my name was on it as well. I have taken several tools back over the years and never had a problem getting replacements.
When I got into flooring and had to have a good 30' tape it was a Craftsman with the lifetime warranty. I was always breaking off the tip and they replaced every one until they dropped that policy. I now use a laser to measure with but it's not a Craftsman only because they didn't  have one that measured the distances I needed.
Great tools but Sears has been going down hill every since K-Mart bought them. Too bad.

I hear ya Rod. I broke a socket wrench I bought from Sears in the 70's. Took it back and was replaced free of charge with no questions asked. Hard to be a Craftsman tool.
