Place: Smokey Oregon Comments: We are fine where we are at, still in the outskirts of Eugene but considered in town. We were going to go camping once more next weekend but have decided to have the boys and do things with them in town. I don't worry about us starting a fire but we have an abundance of stupid campers who don't pay attention to the restrictions and safety so. We got run out of camp 20 years ago but a lightening started fire, fire was about 100 yards from our camp so we packed up and left. Too close for my comfort so we're not taking any chances this time. The weather over the last few years has been changing but refuse to admit that Al Gore could possibly have been correct.
Place: Bact to the 90s in Richardson Comments: I don't understand what's happened to the U.S. Tx had 5 yrs of drought and very tight water restrictions. Then this spring we had unprecedented rain for 4 months. Floods & horrible things happened! Yet your area had nothing, no rain or snow! I've watch each night as the News shows Ca, WA, OR, and other western states burning everywhere!! Millions of acres of trees and way too many homes are totally gone throughout several states out your way. I do hope you and yours are safe in your home. I think about Richard Nance too, wondering if he is OK & his home.
Place: Smokey Oregon Comments: Sammy, we have been having record setting temps this summer, what might be normal for Texas has left Oregon with extreme fire dangers, logging is shut down and many fires are burning destroying homes and entire forests. We've had a little respite this week but are going back into the 90's again. Our ski areas had a snow-less winter and the same is predicted this winter. Our rivers are down so low that sport fishing has been curtailed in many areas. Oregon is not used to this so many are suffering. We may have to change the state tree to palm trees if this keeps up.
Place: Bayfield Colorado Comments: Sorry to hear about the heat in Texas!!!! As you can see we are in Bayfield, Colorado - our annual trip. Right now it is 51 degrees - it is 9:17 am. I still have my heater on in the RV. We are going "Jeeping" with some friends in a little while. That is what I look like for most of the trip! I have not really gotten totally used to it yet. Fortunately our driver has been doing this for about 30 years.Unfortunately we will be leaving the cool temps on Sunday & heading home so that my sister can come to Pagosa Springs. They are leaving on the 3rd of Sept. and one of us has to be in town. Mom is not doing well and gets very nervous is one of us is not close by. So we will head back so that Linda can leave for a while. You guys try to stay cool and I will bring some cool weather back with me!!!!
Place: Lake Tawakoni Comments: I started August 10th at Cheerleader Company. Rod, we got some of your weather today. Low 62 degrees and rain. Awesome relief from the Texas heat and 41 day drought. When is the next mini ?
Place: Smokey Oregon Comments: Jack, my bucket list is the same everyday, make to bedtime and wake up the next morning. Also, any word on how Smokey is doing ?
Place: Richardson Comments: I'm happy for you Sam! It's always nice when your employer asks you to come back and help out. When do you start? This Monday?
Place: Lake Tawakoni Comments: I drive to work every day. Downside is it's in Garland. Doesn't Mater to me though. It's still a fun place to work.
Place: Richardson Comments: Bucket List?? Are you kidding? I wake up in a different world every day. I make plans according to how I feel that day and what time the Rangers are playing! What a great game that started at 1:05. 3 consecutive homeruns!!!!
Place: 66erville Comments: You didn't say if you accepted the offer, Sam. Can you telecommute or do you have to drive in every day? Does anybody really have a bucket list?
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy - A temp job is good, earn a little extra spending money.
Place: Lake Tawakoni Comments: It just proves my point how really important it is to stay hydrated in this Texas heat. A good friend of Sarah's and mine designs, builds and installs water fountains and also was dehydrated. Started having kidney stone problems, etc. etc. I was asked to come out of retirement from the original Cheerleader Supply Company and help work on their Accounts Receivables. It's Monday - Thursday. The pay is nice and gives me something to do until mid December. We are looking forward to the next Mini.
Place: DS Comments: Well, you can scratch that off your bucket list
Place: HOT HOT HOT Comments: Happy Jack and James Brown Sam Smith, thanks for the kind words. Yes, I was surprised to be asked by WFAA TV to show a pool being excavated in 105 degrees. The Reporter did a nice job interviewing us and describing how to manage the heat. My Excavator's Daughter was Care Flight to Children's Hospital that week before. She over heated on the first day of cross country practice.
Place: Richardson Comments: You're right Jack, you can see a lot of the top players in Frisco (AA) or Round Rock (AAA) while they're rehabbing. Ticket prices aren't bad either and you can usually get good seats. Last night was a good game! Josh is doing well and again made the difference for us. Happy for DeShields too!! Don took the boys home Thursday and now it's quiet again. Just us and kitty. School starts on 8-24. |
