My class ring was in a drawer in the house when it burned down in '69. the ring was the only piece of jewelry that didn't melt. So I still have it minus the plastic under the stone which did melt.

I am happy for Roy. How fortunate he's getting it back.

That's what I thought Toni, how nice that they went to the trouble to try and find the owner.  And how odd is it that we have only one person with those initials. [smile]  When Roy said "No, I don't have my class ring, lost it shortly after graduation in Kiest Park"  my heart leaped with joy.  The only way this story could be any better is if it had been John Southworth who found the ring!! [rofl]

Sandy, what a great story!  It's heartwarming to hear something like this in our world today.  How thoughtful of that person!  [thumb]

I've got a great " I can't believe it!" story for you and it's absolutely true!  Although you may think halfway through this is a Smiley story and you're looking for the punch line! [tongue]

A week or so ago I recvd an Em from girl named Candace & the subject line read, "South Oak Cliff HS Class of 1966".  I read it and much to my surprise she wasn't asking about the reunion but rather did I know anyone from '66 with initials RLG?  She gave me her phone # which was a Houston area code.  Now follow closely . . . Her boyfriend's Dad found a SOC '66 class ring with those initials in it.

I'm always leery of Em from strangers, so I called the # and spoke with her.  She & her boyfriend are in Hstn, but the Dad is in Oak Cliff and lives near Kiest Park.  He likes to use his metal detector.  [wink]  Seems he found this ring down in about 4 inches of dirt but once cleaned up it looked brand new. She searched on-line for SOC '66 and found our site and me!

I pulled out the graduation list and there it was . . .  the only name on the list with those initials . . .  Roy Lynn Goodloe.  In talking with Roy it seems he had a snowball fight with a young lady he was dating at the time and in the cold snow the ring flew off his finger.  They searched hours but, alas, it was never found.  Skip ahead 49 yrs and someone with a metal detector finds it and is kind enough to make the effort to find it's owner!!  Roy has contacted the gentleman and will be picking it up soon.  Now, that's the feel good story of the week!!

HI Linda!  Carolyn came to 1-2 of our get-togethers way back when and to one of our dinners, then  . . .  she disappeared!  She moved from where she was living (mail came back) and her pho # didn't work.  I don't know what happened??  We've never heard from her since.

However, I did find Cheryl back while looking for classmates before the 40th  and have all her info.  As far as  know it is still correct as nothing came back when I sent out 45th invite.  She lives in McKinney.  I'll send you her # & Em via private email as I never publish personal info.

Sure would love to see you, and Cheryl too, at our next get-together on 9-26!!!

Yes Toni, Gail Roden is a really sweet girl and she's just like a firefly, she never sits still!  She has more energy than any one person should have!  LOL  I've been friends with her and many of the girls from '63, '64 & '65 for a long time.  I met them when I started attending the girls luncheons.

Went to a friend's 70th B-day party yesterday evening & what fun!!  It  was 50s themed!  We ate hamburgers & fries, cupcakes and then they served malts!  I should have passed on either the cupcake or malt as it was too much food.  Had a great time, but still in shock that I know someone turning 70!!  [wink]

Don't know what is going on . . . 2 recent posts disappeared, then reappeared, then disappeared again. I reported it.  Looks like everything is back now.  Hopefully it stays this way.

I can't help but post today about the catastrophic day 14 years ago.  When I think about that morning and as the day drug on, it all seems so very long ago.  Yet every moment and painful scene is stuck in my mind forever.

Yes, I was at Love Field waiting to catch the 9:30 flight on SWA to Tulsa for 3-days on business.  It all played out on live TV as we stood at the gate watching in stunned silence.  Then the announcement to go home as ALL air travel was canceled until further notice by order of the President.  I went home set my suitcase down and sat at my desk staring at the TV until Don came home several hours later.  Images I'll never forget and hope and pray none of us will have to witness ever again.

Where were YOU when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center buildings?

Hey I have been at the lake for two weeks and there are plenty of places around here for a great lunch! Or I can come to Dallas ...or garland ...or wherever! Maybe not today! Bobby is battling kidney stones....hoping it will not last long. Supposed to come up Sunday and take mom to lunch for grandparents day! I know she is my mother but everyone else is out of town and I did not want her to be the only one there by herself. How depressing!
