Place: Cypress Springs Comments: Hey Hawk...I will go for the purple hair if your lovely wife will join us! The commercial is great. I think about us doing something like that every time I see it. Especially when I see someone with pink, purple, blue etc in their hair!
Place: Reunion Entral Comments: Two last minute checks arrived today. One was expected, the other a surprised. Terry Moxley and Loyd Wilson!! Will post to the Who's Attending list. Had what I hope was last meeting with hotel. Things are shaping up nicely and our decoration will make it look festive and pretty. Don't forget about the Photo Booth Fri night. There will be some props provided but feel free to bring your own! If you have a favorite hat, funny glasses or whatever strikes your fancy . . . bring it. A photo booth is meant to have fun and get some crazy pictures. I do imagine this crowd will certainly have fun with it!!
Place: The Woodlands Comments: Toni, That is awesome you own some Moses art. I have seen his work online, and it is quite beautiful. He is a terrific person, and it is great to see a SOC classmate be so successful.
Place: Richardson Comments: Toni - I love that commercial! For those who don't know what we're laughing about, there's a commercial and it features two ladies who graduated in 1966 going to their 50th reunion. They decide to put purple streaks in their hair for the reunion. It's a real classic!BTW - Bobby & Bonnie Dove have signed up for the reunion and waiting on checks for Terry Moxley & Wayne Zablosky ('63) to arrive. We have a full house for Saturday, but have some space available for Friday. Directory is being printed as we speak. Almost all the name badges are finished. Less than 3 weeks and it will be here!!!!
Place: 66erville Comments: I've been wondering if anyone would show up with purple or multi-colored hair. Toni will Shortcake be joining you in the new color do?
Place: Melissa USA Comments: Annette, I have collected several pieces of artwork personally signed by Dale Moses! He is quite a talented artist. Sandy, MasterCard forgot the purple hair color!

Place: Reunion Central Comments: Reunions can be expensive or, they can just be some of the best memories ever. Depends on how you look at it. Here's an example based on how MaterCard looks at it. Dress for Saturday night - $89.99. Small jar of wrinkle cream remover guaranteed to make you look 10 years younger - $34.95. New bra to make it all come together ( or up) - $34.97. Having the best fun ever for about 6 hours each night - Priceless!!!
Place: Cypress springs Comments: Do not worry about the rolls Jacks....I have a SAMs card - I will swing by there on the way and pick up a couple of hundred! Gosh typing was so much fun...kids miss out on so much fun these days. They do not learn about the "quick brown fox" or what it means to change a ribbon or even what a ribbon is! And sewing and home ecc and all those neat things.
Place: The Woodlands Comments: What a wonderful treat to hear the news of Miss Houser. I adored her and her typing class was a very special and educational class for me. I remember being the typing champion, and sitting next to Dale Moses. I loved that he wrote in my yearbook that he wouldn't have survived High School without my constant harassment in typing class. The feeling was mutual, and I remember him as being a truly kind and talented person.
Place: 66erville Comments: Nice try, Ms. Houser. I'm sure you don't remember me. I was that quiet kid on the third row, banging away, but never able to type more than 45 WPM. You should be happy to hear, later on, using skills I learned in your class and the Army, I was able to type about 90 WPM. As long as what I was typing was "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog's back 12345678910 times" and "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country". Those were the two lines we used to test the teletype machines after we repaired them. Since then I have decided that my fingers are dyslexic, so my inability to type is not my fault but a medical condition. But I did really enjoy your class!
Place: KC, MO Comments: What a nice note from "Miss Houser". Although I was not in one of her classes, I do remember her. She was one of several of our teachers who really were not that much older than the students whom they taught. I'm sorry that she won't be able to join us in three weeks. Now that I think about it, I might have been in one of Miss Houser's typing classes for about three minutes during our Junior year. As I remember it, the class had too many students. I believe it was the vice-principal who came to the class and asked those who planned to go to college to raise their hands. (Would that have been Mr. Artmann or Mr. Pitts?) At any rate, those of us who raised our hands had to leave the class in favor of those who planned to enter the work force following graduation. The explanation was that the latter group would need typing skills more than the former group. I never quite understood that, particularly as I was "hunting and pecking" my way through research papers at North Texas. The hardest part of typing those papers was figuring out how much room should be left on each page for the footnotes. Thankfully typewriters eventually gave way to word processors, which then gave way to computers and all of their bells and whistles. Auto formatting is a wonderful thing! Three weeks from tonight! Yea! Love to all - Carol
Place: Paradise Comments: Happy Birthday and Anniversary to all of you. Fred and I just celebrated our 46th Anniversary (it was actually March 26th) with a 7 day Alaskan Cruise. It was AWESOME! This has been a busy year for us. We went to Disney World in May with 4 of our Grand kids (and their parents) None of us had ever been before. Lots of fun. Then in July for my Birthday our Daughter Wendy and 4 kids and myself went to the beach for 9 days. This is is a tradition we've had for 8 years. In April I was diagnosed with Non Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the Liver. ( I about fell out of my chair, because I Don't Drink, then the Doctor explained everything to me) I'm having test done on a regular basis. I have to have another CT Scan done next Wednesday. The hard part is my energy level has dropped, which is hard for me because I love being active with our 10 Grandchildren. But I truly believe the Lord won't put more on me than I can handle. I don't comment on the guest book very often, but I try to keep up with it. I pray for all that have been ill, hurt or lost loved ones. Sam so glad to hear you are doing so well, You are an inspiration to all of us. We are so Excited about the 50th Reunion! See you in a couple of weeks Love & Hugs to all
Place: Richardson Comments: There you go Jack! How could anyone forget you! Margaret sent the nicest email the other day and I asked if it was OK to post it here. She's a remarkable lady. Below in blue is her email and I only removed her personal address and pho #. If you would like it, please let me know as she would love to hear from you. Hello Sandy, I taught for two years at SOC following my graduation from SMU from 1964-1966. My maiden name was Margaret Houser, and I taught primarily the Typing I classes. I have kept up with your website for at least 5 years, maybe longer. I moved back to my hometown in 1974, and to marry my best friend from long ago. We have been married for 41 years now. I was a business teacher in a high school for a total of 38 years. I started at SOC on manual typewriters, and ended here in Corpus Christi as a computer/accounting teacher. After I left SOC, I taught 8 years at W. T. White in Dallas. Margaret Houser De Ville Corpus Christi, Texas 78412 margaretdeville@msn.com |
