Place: Plano Comments: My thanks to Sandy, Fugates, and many others for working on our 50th. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Place: Dallas Comments: Hey Carolyn, Our very good friends Marvin ( Moon ) And Shirley Mullins ( class of '67 ) are living in Spring and coming both nights to the reunion. They may be coming via boat if it keeps raining down there. Looking at the Who's Attendilng List is certainly nostalgic. I also have great memories of Lisbon and Zumwalt Sandy, but can't remember where I put my shorts last Tuesday. Think they were packed in a box yet to be opened when we moved back to Dallas. See y'all in eight days at the 50th.
Place: Reunion Central Comments: Hey Carolyn - I think your memory is still good. You remembered how Deryl spells his name.
Place: Sugar Land Comments: Sorry I misspelled your name Deryl Litchford!
Place: Reunion Central Comments: Now this is what I'm talking about . . . let's keep the conversation going! Was thrilled to hear from Randy Conine the other night and yes, he is coming Sat night! Carolyn, it's a mystery to me why I can remember little silly funny things about Lisbon, Zumwalt & SOC, yet certain months or entire semesters are "blank". I guess nothing really funny or bad happened during those times?? It's been really great hearing from so many we haven't seen in years. Fri & Sat will be a lot a reconnecting with long lost friends. So after dinner, get up outta your chair and make the rounds. Make sure you see, hug, visit with everyone, not just the 7-8 people at your table. See all of you soon!!!
Place: Sugar Land Comments: I am looking forward to seeing you all next Saturday. Driving up and hope to get there in time for the 2 pm memorial. It really saddens me to see so many of our classmates gone. I went to school with some of them from first grade through high school. I have not been to a reunion since the 5 yr and had been living in Houston since the end of '69. That was a long time ago and hope some of you can fill in some of the 'mysteries' in my memory. Such as, at CP Russell, who were the boys Mrs Nichols hit over the head regularly with a book during 4th grade class? Why do I remember every verse from "My Shadow", by Robert Louis Stevenson, yet can't remember most of my teachers or which classes I had with Richard Nance, Daryl Litchfield, Christina Roman or Adair Crocker? I don't remember much about Boude Storey except for a handsome coach and I don't remember his name or what subject (probably History). In high school, the most profound moment was when Mr Kallstrom came into my English class and said President Kennedy has been shot and because he was such a kidder, I blurted out, "yeah right"! Thoughts to ponder..
Place: Calif. Comments: Well, Randy, I'd been wondering where you were........that pretty much 'splains' it. It would be great to see you next week if you can come around the Hyatt.
Place: Oak Cliff Comments: I have just retired after teaching English and Philosophy at El Centro College and in Richland College's Human Rights program. I taught 43 years as a full-time professor -- always in the Dallas College District where I also did administrative work for a few years. I'm married, and we live in southwest Oak Cliff just west of Hampton/Ledbetter across from Red Bird airport. I've bought, rented out, and sold houses and my partner and I built many, many redwood decks back in the 80s. Marian and I have dozens of former-student-kids from around the world we count as sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, and sometimes our Thanksgiving days seem like the United Nations in our home. One highlight for us was back in 2005 when we traveled to Uganda, East Africa with some of my former students from that country, and we stayed in orphanages for kids who had lost family to the AIDS epidemic. The next year I received a Fulbright grant to study for a month in Senegal, West Africa. Over all life has been an adventure, but except for college years I have lived in various homes in Oak Cliff. My wife is an Oak Cliffy too, and she will teach third grade in a little elementary school not far from the house for another few years before retiring.
Place: Dallas Comments: Well, we did it. Sarah and I moved to Dallas to be close to our Three grandkids in Highland Park. We are now 10 minutes from them instead of 1.5 hours. Live in the Inwood on The Park Apartments. We are also 5 minutes to UT Southwestern Medical facilities where my doctors are. We prayed for a sign to re-in force our decision to move back. Having to fall the way I did was not the sign we were looking for, but God is still good and answers prayers. So many things from June 29th to today has fallen in place. Can't wait to see so many of you at the reunion!!
Place: Melissa USA Comments: So very sad to hear about Linda Bollman Ellis. I've been wondering about her for a very long time. Thanks to Sally for providing the sad information. Linda Perkins Rich ....I know you're kidding and I bet there's not one thing Rudy would change!!
Place: McKinney, TX Comments: Checked the attendees and wow, there is going to be a big crowd. So many people I haven't seen in years and years. A little scary and exciting at the same time. Guess I better go get a face lift and tummy tuck. I want to look good.
Place: NH Comments: I am thrilled beyond belief to be heading that way in just over a week! I got my spinal pain injection yesterday, so should be able to travel with ease! My outfits are selected so will start packing over the weekend. I can't wait to see all of you!
Place: Richardson Comments: Well you guys are boring! No posts. Really? I hope you're resting up so you will be perky and energized for next weekend!! Just take a look at the Who's Attending list and if that doesn't get you excited . . . you're just a party pooper! We have a full house and we've been working hard on providing decorations, entertainment and of course . . . FUN! We have a lot of people attending who have never attending a reunion and some who haven't been in many years. Charles Moss and I have worked very hard on providing a nice name badge for everyone, so please wear it. It helps everyone feel more comfortable (especially if you don't recognize anyone) to see a name and at least know who you're talking to. I know our little core group knows each other, but we have a large number attending who won't know everybody. Be considerate and wear your badge. I'm psyched, I'm ready and I can hardly wait!! See you next Friday & all weekend!!
Place: Reunion Central Comments: Bobby, Larry, Ada Ann, Carol, Annette and all the rest who have recently posted here . . . looking forward to seeing y'all. All the names are posted, so you can take one final look at Who's Attending to see who will be there. Unfortunately we've had two cancellations. Barbara Duncan Brooks will not be attending and Mike Dunn had another severe stroke last week and he sent his regrets. He's unable to travel but sends his best for everyone to enjoy the reunion. Also, Mike McDow said he just wasn't ready to attend but said he's doing OK and wants everyone to have a great time.
Place: Arlington Comments: Bonnie and I are looking forward to the reunion. |
