"Displaced" does not sound good - we SOCites will keep Larry and Martha in our thoughts and prayers, I'm sure.  Glad to hear that Jerry and Joyce are OK - and counting on the water staying away from Carl and Shirley.

Since I'm not on Facebook - have Arthur and Lyn Gentry checked in there?  What about Larry Dunn?  I sent Arthur and Lyn an E-mail and left a message for Larry, asking them to let us know if/how they've been affected by the flooding.  If they have checked in already via Facebook, will someone please let me know?

Love to all - Carol

Richard, I got it!    Jack, thanks for the update on Jerry.  I've been concerned for all of the SOCites in the Houston area.  Read Sandy's remarks about Larry and Martha Lewis on Facebook.  They were not as fortunate but I understand they are safe but now displaced as are many others in the area.  Praying for their safety.

Just spoke with Jerry Tillery. He and all his family are dry and have power. Weather keeps knocking out his sat. TV. He told me there is a creek about 100 yards from his house that is normally about 3 feet deep with a bridge over it, about 8 or 10 feet above it. The creek is now about a foot over the bridge. But the banks are wide and well sloped. He doesn't have any standing water on his street. He's in Fort Bend county, west of Houston, closest city is Rosenberg.

Well, at least Sam gets my humor.

On another note, I'm getting some pretty nasty pics from friends and family in the Houston area.  To think they have 5 days of this before it ends is just bizarre, and the road to recovery is hard to even imagine.  I try to find a silver lining in most things, but this one has me at a loss.  Hopefully, we won't be getting news of casualties  among those we know.

Thinking of all our classmates and their families in and around Houston today.  Things certainly sound bad with all the rain that they have received and continue to receive.

Karen, evidently the guy holding the ladder didn't get the no smoking memo.
Just heard from Marvin and Shirley Mullins in Houston. The water on their street is now 20 feet from their house. Expecting additional 2 feet of rain before it's all over.
Sarah has classmates from Spruce '68 who were in a RV camp in Rockport. They left Thursday and just received word this morning the entire camp was destroyed.

Richard - we do not smoke and we are really not around that many people that do. Most of them got smart and quit many years ago!

Thoughts and prayers are going out for all affected by the hurricane and for all who will be affected by the predicted flooding.  If anyone hears of any classmates who might need help, please let the rest of us know.

Take care, everyone.  Love to all - Carol

Karen, it's like I've always said; cigarettes can be harmful to your health.  Just sayin'.

Darn Karen, seems like it's either you or Bobby that's having surgery.  Hope your eyes are doing well and your about recovered from the surgery.  Take care of Bobby and prayers for a safe surgery & quick recovery time for him.

Reading that I realize how lucky we were last year when Bobby fell 25 feet off of a ladder. The guy that was holding the ladder decided it was time for a cigarette and turned loose of one side which caused the ladder to sway sideways. They took Bobby to the hospital and fortunately nothing was broken. He was awfully sore for about a week.
He is going to have to have his gallbladder out the beginning of next month. There are several spots that seem to be growing. The Dr advised that it be removed.

Get Well soon, Jim.  And stay off the roof!

How's rehab coming, Don?

Thanks D&B for the on-site update on Jimmy.  You're right, he's got a long road to recovery ahead of him and he'll remain in my prayers.  I'm thankful he's still alive considering the fall he took off the roof.

Went to visit Jimmy Martin in the hospital this afternoon. He was looking good for such a major trauma. He hopes to be released from the hospital by Friday. He will have to be in a wheelchair for a couple of months as his fractures heal. It will be a long recovery for him so please keep Jimmie in your prayers.

Place: Jim Martin in the hospital!!

Comments:
I didn't read the post about Jimmy Martin until late after the Ranger game.  Per the conversation between Jimmy & Susan (see below) Jim is in the hospital with broken ribs, broken collar bone, fractured hip and a punctured diaphragm!! He fell off their roof!!

Please put Jimmy in your prayers as this is a serious situation.  He fell 8-5, so already been in the hospital 2 weeks.

Thanks Susan for letting us know.
