We are getting rain here but no flooding - thank goodness.  We have a lot of the Houston - Galvest0n - Corpus people down in the park and down the street at the KOA.

We will be in Dallas on Thursday for Bobby to meet with his surgeon.  [frown]  Ready to get this over with.

Just a follow up.  For those who don't do Facebook, Carolyn Evans Martin thought they would be okay but have since evacuated and have gone to their church. Carolyn said the Brazos River was at 47 ft. and would crest at 59 ft.   Also, Mary Skwarlo Goins thought they were going to be okay but this afternoon they were asking if anyone could tell them a way to get out.  They got the information on how to get out and apparently they have or will be relocating from Cypress. Continued prayers for the safety of our friends in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. Sandy, glad to know that Don and his mom are doing okay as well.

Marvin Mullins called me. As most of you know he is with Homeland Security. There are 13 agents that are in his Houston office. Only 3 could make it in since Saturday. He is gong to try to make it in today. If he is able to, he will be in the office for at least 48 hours.
To say the least, Shirley is a nervous wreck as both of their sons are Houston P.D. and already out in this.
Pray for all the Mullin's safety.

Thank you Jack, John & Dale for checking in.  It's good to hear from those we are worried about.  As far as Don, who is at his Mom's house in Pasadena, so far they have not got water in the house.  Water has gone up & down. They may be one of the few areas that isn't underwater.  The rain is relentless.  They predict the Brazos river will crest and overflow by this evening.  Not good.

Just know that all of Houston and those affected by the rising water are constantly on our minds and in our prayers for the long haul.

John, glad to hear Y'all are doing OK. Thanks for thinking about us in West Texas. We could sure use the moisture as we have been dry for a spell. The cows were already coming to the barn asking for hay due to grass being so scarce and dry. As I've said before : When it rained that time for 40 days and 40 nights, we got two-tenths.  Stay dry and safe.

Jack, thank you for checking in on us. The Woodlands is doing MUCH better than nearby Houston ... less rain and hardly any flooding. As of now (11:00am Monday) we've had a lull in the rains which stopped around 4:00am. After 3 days of a slow, steady, relentless rain the lull is much appreciated.

In The Woodlands we still have electricity, water, and even TV so our situation is quite tolerable. At the moment some of the streets in three directions are impassable but we can still exit the neighborhood by going North. A lot of stores and businesses are closed so there isn't much reason to leave home. Schools are closed too.

Our home is in an area with very good drainage so I think we will be safe from flooding even if more rain comes (as predicted). Our biggest fear is losing power for an extended period. Then no cooking, no a/c, no internet etc.

The difference in Harvey vs previous hurricanes (Rita, Katrina, Ike) is that this time around Houston and The Woodlands didn't get hit with those 100 mph devastating winds that hit Corpus, Rockport, and Port Aransas. Don't get me wrong ... the flood damage is huge ... but at least we were spared the massive wind damage.

Wish there were some way we could capture all this excess water and pipe it to west Texas for the benefit of Dale S. and others. Take care, everybody.

Tillery called me this morning. They are still all doing well, dry with power. He said the water came creeping up his driveway last night but went back down. They have been keeping track with their rain gauge. So far, since Friday they have logged about 40 inches. He said he was sure that the gauge overflowed during the night times.
SNL how's Don and family doing ?

Thank you Sally.  Anyone who has contact with anyone in Houston area and can give us an update it will be appreciated.  At this point it is getting worse & will get worse throughout today and next two days.  Even if rain stops right now water will continue to rose because of the over flowing bayous down there.  If friends were safe yesterday they may not be today & will need to be evacuated today.

Please keep in mind . . .  this is an unprecedented event!  Never has Houston or any other U.S. City receive this much rain within such a short time.  But God Bless all those citizens jumping in to  help  others because as the Mayor said this morning, "This is bigger than anything the Red Cross or Salvation Army can handle by themselves.  We need every person that is able to help whomever they can!"  This is very hard to comprehend and it's overloading my emotions.  Please pray for all those in harms way.

I wrote to Lyn and Art and to Annette and Sid and they answered.  Both groups are dry so far.  Lots of tornado alerts, I think for Annette but otherwise okay. We are just hoping and praying!

So glad that people are checking in!  I'm not familiar with all of the smaller towns around Houston - it's good to hear from our classmates who are in those areas that they are OK.

I have to go home at some point before tomorrow - but I'm hanging out close to the guestbook for as long as I can today!  Can hardly wait to get my new phone next week so I don't have to be in the office to keep in touch!

Just saw FB post by Randall Sims, they live in Waller, TX.  It's a small town NW of Houston.  It's a bit north of Katy. The post shows view from his front porch.  A lot of land and water everywhere but not too deep, can still see land and his truck parked in driveway.  They're good.  Wish we could hear from Art & Lyn and Larry Dunn.

Just got word from Mary Skwarlo Goins, they are safe & she doesn't think they will have a problem with high water at their place, although they have seen lots of rain, they are good.

I'm a nervous wreck sitting here dry & safe in Richardson while so many of our classmates, Don's family and Don & his mom are in Houston.  When we saw the noon weather report Thursday Don gathered his stuff and left early Friday for his mom's house in Pasadena.  Pasadena is a little south and east of Hobby airport in south Houston. His mom is 90 & not too mobile. It's tenuous at best but so far the water hasn't gotten into her house, although last night was way too scary as it got up close to the front & back door!

I'm sick to death to learn this morning that Larry & Martha Lewis' (SOC 65) home got about 4 ft of water in it & they were rescued by boat. They were taken to a shelter on high ground.  Toni & I talked this morning and we were wonder about so many classmates that live in Conroe and down I 45 south to  Galveston and a little east & west of I 45.  Glad to hear Jerry & family are safe!  This is a unprecedented rain like never before and it will have very ugly effects that will take years to overcome. When this is over and the water clears, we need to see which of our SOC friends need help and what we can do to help them.  Keep praying that HARVEY will hurry up & fizzle out so the water can begin to recede.
