Place: David Walker's passing Comments: For those of you not on FB, I am sadly posting to let you know another classmate and friend, David Walker, passed away yesterday afternoon (10-10-17). David was diagnosed with cancer last year about the time of our reunion. He had been undergoing treatment. He was married to Charlotte (Hilburn) Walker and both were SOC '66ers. Prayers for Charlotte as she travels through this difficult time. RIP David.
Place: Calif. Comments: I was reviewing the "Memoriam" page and noticed there are 88 of our classmates listed. I know number 89 is coming up, so for safety sake, I'm reserving number "90",:it's mine. Nobody can take number 90, so leave it alone. I'm in no rush to take that number, but it's mine; so, you folks need to relax, and take care of yourselves. Somewhere between now and 20 years from now, I'll step up and take that number. So,.........leave it alone and take care of yourselves. I'm just sayin'.
Place: Richardson Comments: I'm excited for you Carol. Hope you make new friends and make some great memories. Can't wait to hear about the concert when you're here for the Mini. And I don't blame you, I never post on FB personal info about where I am or when I'm not going to be at home. I don't think it's a smart move. To the rest of the Group - - Don't forget our Fall Mini is Oct. 28th! It's at the Holiday Inn on Central Expwy(Hwy 75) just one block south of the Double tree. See the Events page for full details. Looking forward to seeing Carol and a lot of you!!
Place: Almost Aspen - Colorado! Comments: Rod - Glad that you're home; just keep healing and feeling better. I'm still not totally comfortable posting my "whereabouts" on Facebook - so just a reminder here that I will be Aspen-bound next week! I'm excited but still a little nervous. I'll stay in Denver Monday night - then be on to Aspen on Tuesday for the John Denver celebration - leaving Aspen on Sunday for one night in Manitou Springs - then home on Monday. I'm expecting to see a lot of beautiful country, hear a lot of great music, and maybe meet some new friends. It may be just hype, but supposedly there will be JD fans from several countries attending the music festival. Then - a few days after returning home - I will be off again to see some of the best folks in the world at our SOC mini! Life is pretty sweet sometimes! Love to all - Carol
Place: Richardson Comments: We're just glad to hear from you Rod! Take it easy and don't worry, I can just waive my magic wand and voila . . . the extra posts are gone! ![]() Hint: From experience, when you hit "post" give it a few seconds. Some days it just slow in accepting commands.
Place: Sachse Comments: Rod, take another pain pill and keep on posting. Glad you're home.
Place: Oregon Comments: Now I know how double posts get on here. Sorry for repeating myself.
Place: Home Comments: I am home, only spent one night there but was pretty tired yesterday. All is well but will be off my feet for a while.
Place: Richardson Comments: Now I'm beginning to worry. Rod's surgery was Tuesday and now on Friday, still no word. Hopefully by tomorrow we'll hear some good news.
Place: Richardsonq Comments: No, not yet Jim. He said he would have Linda post something but maybe she's been staying at the hospital. I believe the surgery was yesterday. I think she may post something on FB, or maybe here, not sure. I'm anxious too. Hope he's doing well.
Place: Carthage, TX Comments: Has anyone had an update on Rod Savage and his surgery??
Place: Richardson Comments: You two are awful, but remember, I have editing power! LOL LOL I'm sure Steve would also appreciate cards or notes from old classmates.
Place: Dallas Comments: I'll take a 1957 Chevy Bel Air convertible.
Place: Lazy S Ranch Comments: I remember Steve Short as being one of the nicest guys at SOC. He was just fun to be around. I'm sorry to hear he is dealing with serious health issues. Yuvonne and I will pray for him, his family and the care-givers that hopefully provide comfort during his treatment. SNL, as long as we are giving away cars, I could use a new F-250 diesel truck to haul hay and cows. :-).
Place: Info on Steve Short Comments: Thank you Gary for the info below on Steve Short both here and on FB. That way more of our group will see it. I now have a current address for Steve Short. 157 Summer Night Cove, Buda, TX 78610. The address in the 50th Reunion Directory is no longer valid. He would probably enjoy cards from his old friends. |
