Place: Sunny & Beautiful in Richardson Comments: Richard - I have to like your attitude. Really . . . now that your life is almost half over . . . ![]() About a 1/3 of the class will turn 70 between now & the end of the year. The other 2/3 will turn 70 next year. I'm very encouraged to know I may live past 140. Remember, I'm starting to plan a 70th B-day Party for all of us for next year. It will be low-keyed and inexpensive, but guaranteed to be FUN!! Rest up Richard, I will expect to see you at the party!!
Place: Calif. Comments: Jack, you and Sam should think it over.l Now that my life is almost half over, I'm beginning to think things out with a different perspective.
Place: 66erville Comments: Think that out, Sam. In 53 years you might have a bit of trouble getting around.
Place: Dallas Comments: No thanks Jack. I'll wait another 53 years to 2070. I can get them for $100.00 each.
Place: 66erville Comments: Sammy. I can get u a pass to see those for ONLY $10.00 each. I have a "in" with the tour director!
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy - I see what you mean. I also would want my $1.00 worth!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Hey, I'm good until about 10:30pm, after that . . . I make no promises! It will be up to our table to be entertaining enough to keep me awake!!!
Place: 67er Comments: Sandy, 10:00, are you sure you can make til 10
Place: Dallas Comments: Heck Sandy, all I want to see if they have the back of the bear and elevators. I mean like I paid $1.00 for each as a Sophomore
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy - I too got the email. Don is doing a great job of organizing the reunion. I'm not going on the tour because I want to remember SOC as the beautiful school it was , even 10 yrs ago it was in great shape. Lonnie Harmon and Jack Hawkins both went to SOC and both got great photos of the entire school. I had all of those pics on the old site. It seems now that DISD has let SOC & Zumwalt and many other schools go without maintenance and SOC & Zumwalt are actually on the list for consideration of being torn down because DISD says it would be too costly to repair them. Can you imagine that! I don't want to see the school in such bad shape. I'm going to pass on the tour. But thank you for asking. I do plan to party with y'all on Fri & Sat night, so get your rest as we may be staying up past 10:00pm!!!
Place: September 11, 2001 Comments: Can't let this day go by without remembering the horrors that took place 16 years ago. We all remember exactly where we were and what we were doing the moment we saw what was going on in NYC. I was at Love Field waiting to board the 9:30am flight to Tulsa on a business trip. God Bless the USA and may we rise to the occasion and defend our country.
Place: Dallas Comments: We are going. Sandy, Did you get an email from Don Snowden regarding the tour on Saturday the 23rd at 10:00? I'm trying to be discreet. So far everyone I've talked with said an excellent idea.
Place: Our Fall Get-Together Comments: I hope many of you have read the post below or seen the Events pg. regarding our next Get-Together! It's been almost a year since our 50th . . . Let's get together!!!
Place: Fall Get-Together ! Comments: Have been working on getting us a place to have the Fall Get-Together. Hyatt - No Double Tree - No. Holiday Inn - YES. Here's the info, so mark your calendars & make plans. Fall Get-Together is October 28, 2017. Will be from 2:00 to 6:00pm on Saturday at the Holiday Inn. It's the same H.I. we had several other gatherings at before we started going to the Hyatt. Location is 1655 N. Central Expwy., Richardson, TX 75080. Pho: 972-238-1900. It's just 1 block south of the Double Tree. Unfortunately, the Hyatt had big weddings (350-400 people) booked on the dates in October & each had a reception & dinner following the afternoon wedding. The Double Tree opens the bar at 4:30 and wasn't interested in accommodating us. The H.I. was glad to open early for us. Please pass along the info to our friends & spread the word.
Place: Richardson Comments: Jerry - It is so nice to hear from you and that you are able to finally get back to your office. We thankful you 7 our other classmates didn't get water in their homes but can only imagine how devastating it must be for other residents so so fortunate. As far as I know, the only SOCite to be rescued via boat and have their home inundated with 4 feet of water is Larry Lewis. They lost everything (50 yrs of marriage) and were taken to a shelter. They are trying to recover and with the kindness of friends of friends who gave them the use of their rent house for as long as necessary, they are at least safe and not in a shelter. God Bless Houston and all the surrounding areas covered in water. Will be along hard road. Let us know if anyone knows of one of our SOCites whose home got flooded. |
