Sandy, I just read about your "adventure" at the hotel.  You have all my sympathy, respect and admiration.  I learned long ago about getting copies (signed and dated) and keeping everything!  Incompetent people indeed!

I "talked" with a few classmates via Messenger and Facebook this weekend about attending our birthday party.  The responses so far have been "probably not due to a scheduling conflict; not sure yet; and there's a chance".  So Sandy, you may still get a few more checks in the next few weeks.  I'm just assuming that everyone is aware of the registration deadline.

Like the summery look of the guestbook.

Love to all - Carol

Even the Daisies are feeling the heat here in N. TX.  I'm hoping for some clouds to block the sun.  But then, it is July, so put on the shades and hopefully find a cool spot!

Well Jack, I'm not sure what to say except, Thank You!  What I like best and get the most satisfaction from . . .  is seeing everyone getting back together and having a good time with old friends.  You can't put a price on having a good time with old friends.  We've had a lot of "connections" made since the website was established back on 2004.

The main theme of this party is "Celebrating Life & Friendships".  There won't be any video or skits, just time to sit and talk, get caught up and of course graze on the tables of food.  Then we'll sing & eat cake!  Yes, there will be a dance floor and a great DJ.  Randy from our 50th will spin tunes for us.  I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you.  The best Thank You I can get is by YOU showing up!

Jack - Maybe we should pace ourselves on the buying of drinks for Sandy.  We want her to be able to remember the great time that she will have at the party.

11 weeks and 45 minutes and counting!

Love to all - Carol

Way to go, Sandy. You are quite the pit bull when negotiating contracts. Thanks for rescuing our space for the upcoming party.

A behind the scenes look at what SNL does to pull all of our parties together! Because of her attention to detail and holding the hotels to the contract, we have great parties. Most of us don't realize the amount of work and planning that goes into these gatherings.  We just show up, have a great time and go home. She stays and polices up all the "extra" stuff she brings (like the SOC sign and Bear). When you get the chance, tell her you really appreciate the work she does and maybe even buy her a drink!

You're welcome Carol.  At each of our reunions & parties that I've planned I've always had the point-of-contact, usually what they call a Catering Mgr, change between the time I sign the contract to when the party happens.  It's always worked out and it seems the new person tries harder.  But, I've never had someone leave out a pg of the contract on her side and then book a larger party for the same space and try to hide it.

It was just weird.  The whole time I was sitting there with the new Catering Mgr & her big boss I keep telling myself, "Don't blink, you have the upper hand because you have the contract.  Be nice, but don't let them off the hook."  It all worked out and we will have our party with good food and a special cake I'm bringing.  So we can, " Celebrate, Celebrate, Dance to the Music!"

Sandy,
Sounds so familiar. Kathy used to work with hotels in her job in Colorado Springs. All you would need to do is plug the name of her hotels into your story and they would be the same. Now in my work in the Air Force with major government contractors whose names you would know...oh my...honesty, integrity and competency are slipping from the American attribute list.

OK, here goes . . .  I've been unable to reach my contact, Jenny, at Holiday Inn for more than 2 weeks.  Left her 2 VMs and 3 emails.  Nothing.  I decided to send one last Em & give it 24 hrs. I knew something was wrong.  Within 2 hrs I got a call from a Cynthia at H.I.  Jenny no longer with the company & Cynthia now taking over.  We set up meeting for today.

As soon as we sat down she said there was some issues & the contract wasn't complete.  Told her my copy was complete & signed, I have it right here! She looked at it & said there is a slight problem.  First, all of the contract wasn't in their file & Jenny booked another party for 150 people on the exact same date as our party & gave them our room!  She proceeded to tell me they would need to move us to the smaller room so the larger party could have the larger room.  With that I told her that I have a signed and executed contract dated 1-9-18, what date is the other contract signed?  Bet it wasn't before that!  She seemed flustered and said she didn't know what else to do.  I told her if they move us it will be breach of contract so she better go get her boss.
Dee the mgr came out. She pulled the other contract and sure enough the crazy lady (Jenny, the one who got fired) signed another contract 3 weeks ago for the same space.  Dee looked at both contracts and then apologized to me and said they would definitely honor mine and she would have to break the news to the other group.  You can't imagine how stressful it was being told there was nothing that could be done & having to get rather pointed with them and telling them I was not changing anything.  Then they asked if they could make a copy of my contract since pages were missing from theirs.  Just another day in hotel life and dealing with incompetent people.  That's why you always get a good copy of your contract. [thumb] All's well that ends well.

Check the Attending List, it's really growing.  Can hardly wait till September!!
