Yes Carol, I got it & have replied.  All - I'm waiting for Don to get back from Dripping Springs wit the two boys.  They'll be here a week, so won't have much time for GB until later at night.  We have lots of activities planned for them, mostly indoors!  Darn this heat wave.

Richard - Good decision!!  Things are going well with the mew Catering Mgr.  She is knowledgeable  and actually does what she says she will do.  Nice change.

Carol - No email from you at all.  You may have inadvertently mis-typed it because I've had the same email for over 12 years.  But here it is kiddo . . . sandylynn@sbcglobal.net

Yes the Attending List is quite impressive.  Lots of good friends to visit with on a great Saturday night!  Looking forward to 9-22.

Jim,
Really good experience with AAA. The different times we had to call them, we got excellent time arrival and more than paid for the yearly premium.
Just found out we get the online AAA room rate for $85.00.

Speaking of AAA, does anyone have any good/bad experiences with the organization?

Thanks Sammy - I just called and the new person added 5 more rooms for the $89 rate.  So if anyone else wants one go ahead and call.  IF, for nay reason, they say no rooms . . . Tell them to check with Cynthia Guzman the Catering Mgr because she has added more rooms!

But hey Sammy, darn good rate with AAA!

With the 4 additions yesterday (Youngs & Kidds) we pretty much have a full house!  We now have 77 people registered and paid, max is 80 & pushing it would be 85.  I'm going to push it to the 85 because experience & knowing what I know . .  . there will be 3 or 4 people who don't show up for various reasons.

I just made reservations for the Holiday Inn. Mandy advised me the SOC 70th Birthday Party Rooms were all booked and the $89.00 room rates are no longer available. I used my AAA membership and got a $90.00 rate. Thought I would let all know.

Yes, the last 3 weeks have been quite a journey.  Not just with the party planning, but life in general.  I have a couple of health issue that require numerous Dr. visits and to numerous Dr.s  One is a skin disorder that has taken me on a journey I never thought I'd travel. It's been going on for 16 months.  But all of you know how much time can be eat up arranging Dr visits, traveling to/from, waiting & waiting & waiting!

I started out with #1, a P.A. at my dermatologist's ofc.  5 visits and 5 months later, with no improvement, insisted on seeing the Dr. not P.A. as condition now serious.  Saw Dr #2.  But found out 2 months later, thru my own research, that the 4 meds they were prescribing were hurting my condition because they had items in them that I'm very allergic to!  Went to Dr #3, another highly recommended dermatologist.  On 3rd visits, was referred to Allergist.  Went to Dr #4, the Allergist.  On 2nd visit was referred to an Endocrinologist.

Went to Dr #5, the Endocrinologist.  After 1st visit got call from her assistant and she actually ask me, "Have you considered seeing a Dermatologist?"  So, yesterday I started all over with Dermatologist #3 and 6th medical person.  I'm not a whinner & I would appreciate it no one posts or refers to any of my medical problems on FB.  But this month is 16 months I've been dealing with this skin problem & it's really beginning to wear me out.  I also have a serious issue that came up in my right eye & I've been seeing a Retina Specialist since end of May for that issue.  Hoping to get some improvement in my right eye within the next 4-6 months, seems it's not a quick fix. I have a branch of veins in my retina that are leaking and causing very blurred vision. If you're interested, look up BRVO in your eye on Google. [eek]  It's complicated.

As for the hotel issue.  Anyone who's ever had to deal with a hotel knows there is constant change and turnover in personnel.  It's happened at everyone of our reunions, I start with one person and end up with someone else.  BUT, this was a first in that she booked a 2nd party in our room and then tried to hide it my getting rid of 2 pgs of their contract that showed which room.  She also told me she would probably have to move us to another smaller room.  That situation was a first.  But as we all know, a signed contract holds up well in court & has served me well over the last 15 years that I've been doing this.  Just throwing out the phrase, "that would be a breach of contract" is all it took, and, my copy of the contract. LOL

As for me, I don't want your sympathy, if you want to do something for me, Please pray that this skin condition will be healed and that my right eye will get better.  Anyway, all these issues and doctors is why I've not had more of a presence on FB & our GB.  So come what may, Let's Celebrate Life & Friendships on Sept. 22nd!!  Really  looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sandy, I just read about your "adventure" at the hotel.  You have all my sympathy, respect and admiration.  I learned long ago about getting copies (signed and dated) and keeping everything!  Incompetent people indeed!
