What a tough time the SOC66 family is experiencing. Glad we still have an active support group. Of all the people I know, we are the only group of classmates that have a special site where we can communicate. Thanks to SNL and all who keep this line of communication alive and meaningful. God bless us one and all. We surely need it.

I'd seen on FB where Randall Sims, our classmate, said his wife Peggy was extremely ill and battling cancer. Unfortunately she recently passed away.  We have many classmates/friends that have lost a loved one and also that are very sick themselves.   We should remember them in our prayers and thank God for the health we have.  The sun is finally shinning today & the leaves on the trees are turning orange.  It's beautiful outside!

Went to Burleson this evening to be with our daughter and son-in-law. They are doing pretty good. Both a little shaky about their baby. But, they are are strong in their faith and have put this situation into God's hands. I did find out that my wife gave me the wrong information about the deformity. The ailment the baby has (I cannot remember the name) causes sections of the brain NOT to develop. Often it is the front of the brain. And, sections of the skull do not develop. It is quite sad. But, they know the baby will soon be with the Lord and will not be deformed at all. I am now comfortable that they can emotionally handle the situation. Of course, they both teared up while we were there; but, that is healthy.
Thank you for the kind support, concern, and condolences. Connie and I appreciate every one of you. And, my daughter and son-in-law appreciate the concern and support you give. Connie and I are proud at how the Class of 1966 gives so much support to fellow members. Thank you so much. I feel so much better knowing that you care.

Thank you so much, Paul. Needless to say our family and our son-in-law's family in Nebraska are all in grief. Luckily, having lost our first child, I know petty much what my daughter and her wonderful husband have to look forward to in the near future. Takes time to get your feet back on the ground when going through the death of a child that you are so excited to be having. We will be headed to their apartment in Burleson, this afternoon, to be with them for the evening.
I appreciate your sentiments very much. Thank you again!

I add my heartfelt thoughts and prayer at this time, Ronnie and Connie. Rest assured, you are not in this alone. God absolutely cares about your family and especially this little one...and so do we. Though I obviously don’t know them, I still feel deeply for what you and they are going through. This is truly a time of anguish for the SOC66 family. But we respond together.

Thank you, Sandy. We are taking off work early today to be in Burleson with Katie and Matt. Many more tears today. I hurt so much for them. Brings back memories of losing our first child.

Ronney & Connie, I am so saddened to hear this terrible news about your daughter's baby.   There are no words. I will put you & your family in my prayers as that's all I know to do.  My heart is breaking for you.  Stay strong for your daughter and ask God to see you through.  God Bless you & your family.

Hate to add to the sad news. My daughter, Katie, and her husband, Matt, went to the doctor to find out the gender of their baby. It is a boy, named Maxwell (Max) Lee Hoover. Then the doctor dropped the ball on them. The baby will not live. Has some deformity where part of the skull is outside of the head. There is no hope. He said she can terminate the pregnancy or go full term and he will die shortly after birth.
Needless to say, this is NOT what my sweet daughter had planned on hearing. Also needless to say, we are all in tears this evening. I was so hoping to play with my third grandchild in March. But it is not to be.
Besides having a bucketful of tears in my eyes, I feel so empty knowing how my daughter and son-in-law feel. Connie and I lost our first child. Was grief beyond any I had felt before. Now my sweet daughter and her wonderful husband are having to experience a grief I would not wish for anyone. Many tears from the McKee and Hoover families tonight.

Been raining since this morning.  Back home after a long, wet and very sad day at Faith Bible Church for the Memorial for Odis.  It was nice to see several of our SOC group there.  It was an uplifting memorial but, when the lone bagpiper played at the end as he walked down the isle . . .  I think we all had tears flowing.  Will miss his big smile and hearty laugh!  RIP Odis McLean, we miss you already!
