Place: California Comments: Man,. that gal's a John Denver groupie. You two have fun.
Place: Richardson Comments: OK group, it's beginning to feel like December! Thought it time to change the login photo as it's chilly outside. Where are you guys?? I guess you're all over on FB posting. Too bad, because people still read and enjoy this site for more personal info. On the upside, Carol Carpenter is on her way to my house and should be here in a few hours. We're going to the Jim Curry concert tonight. He's a great tribute artist for John Denver's music. Tomorrow, Sat, we're having a girl's luncheon at El Fenix. Looking forward to seeing so many of our girlfriends! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . .
Place: The Woodlands Comments: Awesome pictures and memories of Oak Cliff https://www.pinterest.com/dsedwards2/oak-cliff-and-memories/
Place: LV, TX Comments: As I mentioned to the SOC '66 Vets in a separate e-mail, since we're into the holidays now, I'd like to finalize the group donation to Wounded Warriors for Odis McLean by Dec. 15th. Once I receive a confirmation letter from WWP, I'll post it for all contributors to view and his family will receive a similar letter. Thank you.
Place: LV, TX Comments: The fried turkey turned out great - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, very flavorful, but not spicy. I started marinating it Wed. a.m. and we served dinner late Thu. afternoon. Kathy complimented it with a smoked, spiral-cut ham, plus all the traditional side dishes and desserts. It was a drink, eat, nap, repeat ... sort of day. Only our oldest son, Greg, and his girlfriend, Val, live close enough to visit, so they came up from Corpus to join us this year and she also brought more homemade desserts ... mercy. Now, only the 2 of us are left to continue working on the leftovers, since they went back today. We'll be heading down to visit them at Christmas.
Place: Richardson Comments: Don L - how did your fried turkey turn out? Hope you didn't burn down the house like so many people do when using hot grease! Hope it was a great feast for you Kathy & some of your family. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day all day long! We went to my brother's house & it was family & friends all day working in the kitchen, eating, cleaning the dishes and eating pie. Of course you can't have a Thanksgiving in my family without pie, coffee and the Cowboys game on TV. It doesn't get any better than beating the Redskins on Turkey day! 31 to 23! Go Cowboys!!
Place: LV, TX Comments: Best wishes to all classmates & families for a happy & safe Thanksgiving Day! I've been marinating a turkey since yesterday & it'll be headed for the frying pot around 5 pm.
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Don Lincoln, I like your thoughts. I like your reasons for Max's smile. He definitely was loved. He will always have a special place in our hearts.
Place: Sunny & beautiful in Richardson Comments: Good afternoon SOCites! Yesterday & today are so beautiful here in our area, yea!!! We've had an early freeze, several of them, and blustery cold north winds the last 2 weeks. So, today is wonderful. Just want to remind the girls about our luncheon with Carol Carpenter on Saturday, Dec. 8th at the chocolate Angel inside the Antique Mall. I'm going to make reservations so it's important to know how big of a table to reserve. So far I have 9 names on the list. Please let me know No Later than Dec.1 if you'd like to join us. Be there at 11:00am. Thanks & look forward to another fun luncheon!
Place: LV, TX Comments: Ronney - We know you'll forever cherish the thought of holding little Max. It could be that he was smiling because he knew nothing but absolute love from all his family and prayers from all of us during his brief stay. And now, he'll be gently rocked in his heavenly crib by our Lord, while he continues to smile.
Place: OK Comments: I can assure you that Max is right now feeling more satisfied and complete than any of us who remain behind. God bless and comfort you Ronney, Connie and Max’s Mom and Dad.
Place: Richardson Comments: Amen and God Bless you & your family Ronney.
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Thank you for the kind comments. They mean much to us. And, thank you Don Fugate for posting my message, as I was not near a computer or WYFI. I did get to hold baby Max's body, which weighed slightly more than 1 pound. He was beautiful. the top of his head was covered with a small knit cap and hid the deformities. He was almost smiling. No sign of any pain or trauma. I was not sure if I wanted to see or touch him. But, glad I did. It helps give closure. Although we are still in grief, seeing and holding his beautiful little body gave all of us so much peace. Tears? Of course. But, pride knowing this little boy has a perfect body in heaven right now. It gives all of us comfort. Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. You have no idea how much the SOC class of 1966 means to Connie and me. We ARE a close-knit, caring and loving group.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Donnie for posting info. I have no words, just thoughts and prayers.
Place: Garland Comments: Ronnie McKee asked me to post this as he had no access to computer: Little Max passed away this morning. My daughter is fine. We are all shedding our tears right now. Thank you for all the prayers. |
