Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Rick, my heart goes out to you for the loss of your beloved mother. Losing any family member is difficult. But, the loss of a parent is especially difficult and painful. I lost my mom and dad to cancer, just 9 days apart in March 1987. Was so very painful. Wish I had words to make the pain you feel disappear. Just know that the pain you feel will get better with time. You will always have a soft spot in your heart for her. And, I feel sure that all of us SOCites 1966 are emotionally hugging and praying for you and your family right now. We all love you and emotionally stand with you, buddy.

Place: Dallas Comments: Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sad news to share, Mom passed away Jan 18. Obituary was in Sunday paper. She lived from 1919 to 2019, 90 days short of her goal of 100.

I'd like to send out an update to the vets on my e-mail distribution list and have recent info on Speedy. Would like to include info for Alvin as well and hope the news is also encouraging. Both Speedy & Alvin served in the Navy.

Place: LV, TX Comments: I just spoke to Speedy also. He let me know that his cell# is good only for calls & v-mail - so I know why he didn't see my text yesterday. I contacted him on the home# and, as Sandy said, he sounded pretty much like his old self. He was even jovial & laughing a bit - a helluva lot better than a few weeks ago. No need to add anything more to that, except I sure hope it continues. We talked a bit more about our times at SOC, working at A&P, and cruising around on weekends when someone had the car & anyone who was riding paid for gas - aaahhh ... I told him I'd gather clips of well-wishes from the g/b & forward to their joint e-mail acct. We had a great chat and he really appreciates all our support. |
