You got it Paul.  If you're coming in from OKLA we'll humor you by going to El Fenix.  It's the least we can do. [thumb]

I am going to start lobbying early for El Fenix after the mini. That would make the event a “Grand Slam.” ⚾️🌮🌮🌮⚾️ I hope others agree. Please oh please. 😇

Amen to that Paul.  The Class of '66 has always been special and we remain close today.  Let's all do our best to make a Mini in April.

Sandy, I appreciate your comments and assurances of support (and those of others) so much. They have made great strides in chemotherapy but it still knocks you way off the “normal setting.” You have to adjust to a new normal and set that as your standard for how you are going to feel day to day. Some days almost feel normal normal but that doesn’t last. Most of the time, if life before chemo was a 9 or 10, it is now a 4-6. And it impacts most of your “systems” so you are kind of in a haze at times. I believe God allows things in our lives for our ultimate good and for me, what Don, Randy, Speedy, and others (don’t mean to skip over anyone) are going or have gone through has served to show just what our class is all about. I prefer to refer to it as the class WITH class. I desperately want to make the mini (April sounds great) and am trusting no hiccups that would prevent that. Any later (e.g May) and I will have a procedure that could keep me out of circulation for awhile. I hope these challenges for our class will keep everybody checking in on the GB so we can keep tabs on each other.

If there's anything to be learned from all the trials and tribulations our class is going thru . . .  we are there for each other!  It helps to know others care and are praying for you.  I can assure you Paul, you and the others I have mentioned are in my prayers each night.  How are you doing Paul?  I don't know from personal experience, but I do know from a few close to me that chemo is tough!  I hope you are hanging in there.  If you ever have doubts .  .  .  just ask Ada Ann about kicking cancers butt!  She's done it twice.

I am planning to have an April Mini, God willing and the creeks don't rise.  That's an old saying from my dad. [wink]  Easter is 4-21, so we may want to do it on Saturday 4-13.  It's still a little far to make a definite plan, but I'm looking at that date.  What do y'all think??  I know this group is beat up and not moving very fast but I would hope this would be the incentive for all of us to put our best effort into making a Mini.  Life is short, don't miss a chance to see good friends! Sammy, I do remember that awful experience for Sarah & you.  It's true, I went 36 hours without sleep and pure adrenalin & coffee were all that were keeping me going.  I know you & Sarah were scared out of your wits because Don & I sure were.  Thank God Sarah is doing great.  Hey, when you have a moment, send me your new address, seems like I remember you saying y'all moved to Plano?

Don and I saw 4 doctors this week & it's only Thursday.  But the good news is that the cardiologist & heart surgeon both said his heart is doing fine!  No problems with the surgery.  In fact, if it wasn't for that darn trigeminal nerve, he would have been doing P.T. all this week.  The excruciating pain has gone but he is still getting what we call "after shocks".  They are painful, but not like the #10 that sent us to the ER and that kept coming all night..  We adjusted the nerve meds a little yesterday when we saw the Neurologist.  Things seemed a bit better today, so I'm praying this is a good sign and things will get a little better each day. I would still very much appreciate it if you would include Don in your prayers.  Please ask God to stop the trigeminal pain and let him heal.  And, please remember Paul S., Jame Y., Randy C., and Speedy H. in your prayers too, as they each have severe health issues too.  God Bless the SOC class of '66.

It's been a long week so I'm going to get ready for bed and watch a little TV.  Goodnight.

Wow guys. Sorry to hear of our SOC family going through all this, Prayers for all of you .
Sandy, I can relate to your and Don's busy schedule and sleepless nights. It was one year ago the paramedics arrived at our apt. at 4:30 in the morning and rushed Sarah to the emergency room at UTSouthwestern. I was running on pure adrenalin for 48 hours. Thanks to our son Brian, I was able to leave the hospital and get 4 hours sleep.
looking forward for good healtth for all and see you at the next mini.

Hi, everyone!
So sorry to hear about all of the physical issues that classmates have been facing - but so grateful for good reports that are posted. Keep the good reports coming! ...and if you are well now - STAY WELL, PLEASE!
On a relatively minor note - I posted a video of a JD friend whom I met in Aspen last year performing a song that he wrote - "Timberline Five". Please listen to it (and respond to it if you like it) if you have a chance. (If you don't like it, though, please don't say that. Trying to promote "unsolicited" 😉 positive vibes only.) Thanks!
Talk with everyone later. 💕

Don - We actually have gone to El Fenix to eat numerous times after the Mini.  Our Minis are always from 2 to 6 pm.  About 5:45 I start going around to everyone asking if they want to join us to eat afterwards.   At 6:30pm on a Sat night in the Dallas Richardson area it's hard to get a table for 10, 12 and sometimes 18 or 20!  But EF has alwys been able to accommodate us.  Sometimes we've gone to Mena's Mexican across the street from the hotel.  Anyway, we almost always go out to eat after the Mini because we are all starved!

Thanks Lynell.  Everyone was surprised, especially me & Don.  But we're picking ourselves up, dusting off and going forward.

Sandy, I’ve never been as shocked as I was today when I called to bug you about an unrelated topic. Don is the most fit person I know, so this heart stuff was a real surprise. I’m so sorry about y’all’s ordeal(s) and pray all is well with you and your classmates who are dealing with so much right now. Take care and rest up.

Sandy - Glad to hear the R&R continues and that Paul's mention of El Fenix got a stir out of Don.  Now, there's a good sign of recovery.

And, you mentioned something about a mini in the near future.  Assuming our wounds are healed enough to attend one, including Don's, could that possibly become, like an El Fenix mini?
 [idea]
Just sayin ...

Randy - Also, glad to hear that your diagnosis came back with something manageable & that can hopefully be tamed in short order.

Jim - Glad you got in to see your Dr when you did & got those polyps Exorcised, or however they got rid of them - glad they're gone!

James, I hated to hear about your health scare but glad it sounds like you are taking care of it and so far so good.  Well SOCites, it seems like we are all in the same boat and we're determined to keep paddling to reach the shore.  SOCites are tough and we never give up!  As the old saying goes, "Get knocked down 3 times, get up four. Get knocked down 5 times, get up six." and so on.

This is why I love our little GB here.  We can tell our friends what's going on without having to post it on FB.

I have some good and very encouraging news.  Today, Sunday, Don said he feels pretty good!  He's not dizzy at all and he's moving around very well.  I think he's finally got all those drugs out of his system and getting his system back in order.  He still has a little bit of Trigeminal pain while eating but it's minor, so we'll keep working on that with the meds.  Thank you for your support and prayers as we appreciate both.  Love to all, and, God Bless the class of '66. [love]

Here’s hoping all are on the mend. I have had some issues with polyps in my esophagus and where the stomach meets. Regular gastric Dr found a large benign polyp and she sent me to a Dr with higher expertise/equipment. Went yesterday (Fri) to have the polyp removed. Excused and put clips to stop bleeding. Back in 8 weeks to check clips etc. all in all we were Blessed.
