Robert - So glad to hear from you!!  Look at our Events page for the Spring Mini coming up on April 13th.   Would love to see you again, it's been too long!

On a somber note - I hate to learn of Gary's death.  Thank you Don for pursuing the lead and getting us the confirmation that yet a 3rd classmate has passed in barely 6 months.  I will update my records today.

While researching e-mail delivery failures for some vets today, I discovered an obituary notice for Gary Fleming.  Actually, Gary Nathan Fleming.  But was he the same as ours?

Then, I found 2 more obits, very similar to the first; the age was right, he was an Army vet, which checked against my vets' roster, but none tied him to SOC.  Plus, that middle name wasn't in the '66 Den and he's not listed in the Candidates For Graduation - he should be just before 'William H. Fleming'.

In the 3rd obit, however, there was a Guestbook link, which I clicked, and found a post from a cousin who lives in nearby Round Rock.  So, I e-mailed him and provided the info I had, including senior photo and military info, and he confirmed they were the same:

  "From: Bill Fleming <bffleming@sbcglobal.net>
   Sent: Sunday, March 17, 2019 6:37 PM
   To: Don Lincoln <dlincoln1@austin.rr.com>
   Subject: Re: Gary Nathan Fleming

   Don...

Yes, Gary was my cousin and he passed this past Nov. He’s the same person in your photo, went
to SOC HS and was in the U.S. Army about those dates.

He had a lengthy illness prior to his death and is buried in Brigham Cemetery near
   Commerce/Greenville, TX.

I didn’t attend SOC. I was Waxahachie ‘69 and UT Arlington ‘74. Will retire from UT Austin next
   month.

   All the best."

Many thanks to Judy Harris for visiting Eileen and updating Sandy on her condition.  I include my prayers for Eileen's recovery from the effects of this stroke and continued improvements in her health, so she can rejoin her family soon.

Don,
I believe we are beyond the rumor and into the reality stage on El Fenix (happy happy joy joy). Your ghost pepper salsa might SCARE the stem cells out of me faster than I can trap them 😱. But who knows? 😁

Thanks, Paul!

Looking forward to seeing you at the  mini.  I heard a rumor that we're sliding out afterward and heading over to El Fenix to 'coat our tummies'.  Maybe they'll mix up some ghost pepper salsa to help beef-up your stem cells.  That's bound to ward off anything that even attempts to approach your immune system while it's rebooting.

Coincidentally, Kathy and I are also celebrating our anniversary today.  We were married in 1996, just before I retired from the CG.

For the location, we chose one of our favorite historical sites, Oak Alley Plantation, along the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.  It's noted for the quarter mile of overarching giant live oak trees, believed to be nearly 300 years old: http://www.oakalleyplantation.org/photo-gallery

So, we decided to invite our families and take our vows in front of the main entrance beneath the canopy of live oaks (from Kathy's FB page): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2398908340119940&set=a.101154186562045&type=3&eid=ARA0OUdktVGdgcwQbSA-3w0iHEpqAMj12IZzjOGupZprB7akH2P7Hdo6CQJIjD36DWQ0eY XvcYGvScJV

H a p p y  n r ay  to Alvin & Diane Rogersmarried on this date in 2011.

Alvin previously posted here: “My niece was going to get married in Vegas, so Diane and I decided that was just as good a time as any.  So upon arrival in Las Vegas we picked up our marriage certificate and went to the Little White Chapel and had the drive through ceremony.  By the way my niece's ceremony was at the Viva Las Vegas Chapel and an Elvis impersonator performed her ceremony, really a fun wedding.”

Congratulations and best wishes for many more celebrations!

Many thanks to Judy Carpenter for sending me update on Eileen.  She is in Texoma Medical in Denison.  She still can't talk but is able to eat.  But she has difficulty with movement on her right side.  Will be going to a rehab unit on Mon or Tue.  Will be long road but she can do it.  They told her she has to quit smoking!

Shortcake,
Have a great cruise. Barcelona is a great place to kick off the adventure. Some very interesting architecture there. Will miss you at the mini, though.
