I have been catching up on the GB and I am so saddened to see the loss of so many classmates, as well as the health struggles of so many others. My heart goes out to all who have suffered losses or are battling illness.
Congratulations to all the recent birthdays and anniversaries. We are truly blessed to enjoy every birthday or anniversary that God allows us. Today I am especially mindful of this after so many losses. Love to all.

Sandy, I want to thank you for all that you have done, and still continue to this very day to do for all of our SOC66 classmates.
When you brought us all together so we could celebrate our 70th birthdays, I got to talk to, and to get to know better, a great person that we all went to school with, and that was Randy Conine.
Randy just like so many other classmates I had in school was just somebody I was familiar with mostly by his face and by his name at while at SOC.
So what I want to tell you is that I'm sad, really sad to here that Randy has died, we had the best time talking together at that 70th birthday party that you made possible, basically we met each other for the first time, and "finally" became more than SOC classmates, we became friends too!
We managed to stay in touch a bit writing to each other after that, and I was really looking forward to our getting together for more great conversations like we had had those couple of days in Dallas.
I sent him a text while he was waiting for his surgery at Baylor, he thank me and his text gave me hope that we would some day have time to be together again...that's ok Randy, you left me with some great memories to keep of you for the rest of my life.
Definitely you were a "one of a kind" guy to me.
Gracias Sandy, otra vez.

In one month we've lost, David Mitchell, Buster Goss and Randy Conine.  My heart is breaking and I know many of you are feeling the same.  Rick Mitchell said he would let us know as soon as arrangements were made for Randy.  Rick was at the hospital visiting with Randy Thursday & thought things were good.  Suddenly on Friday things went sideways.

RIP Randy & Buster.  You will be missed by your friends and family.  I'm going to check out for awhile.  Pass the word around about the loss of our classmates and friends.

P. S. - Kathy & I have our reservation at the Hyatt for 4/13.

My cousin, Larry Edwards, will not be attending, due to a prior commitment in Tyler, TX.

I sure hate to hear more bad news of the Randy's and Buster's passing in this morning's posts.

Apparently, Randy didn't receive a compatible match for the lung transplant while he was waiting in the hospital and, sadly, time expired.

I knew Buster only during our SOC days, but always found him to be a decent guy, including after we re-introducing ourselves at reunions and minis.

We'll miss them both and I join with other classmates in offering prayers and condolences to their families, as well as to those of you who were their closest friends 'back during the day'.

Devastating news. I pray, pray and pray for our WHOLE class both well and unwell. We have GOT to hang together now. We WILL get through this, however challenging it may be. God bless us all!

SNL, I know.  I'm quite rattled by this.  Randy and I did a "lot' of running around together back in the day, and were just reconnecting.

OMG Richard!!  You were typing the same time I was.  I can't believe Randy Conine just passed away.  He was in the hospital waiting for a lung transplant.  Geeezz.

Man, our class needs prayers because this is so much to bear.

Thank you Larry for sharing the sad news.  I'm so sorry for your loss, I know you were close.  You were so kind at our 50th to go get Buster & bring him to the reunion on Fri night & get him back home safely.  In just under 6 months, we have lost 4 classmates.

As Paul has said , let's all make it a priority to be at the Mini on 4-13.  I don't want to miss out on seeing so many dear friends.

God Bless the Class of '66.

I just heard from Randy Conine's wife.  He passed away yesterday.  Just the worst news.

While rough times like this won’t last forever and more normal times will return, this points out why all of us who reasonably can should make this particular mini. I am sure that while we are wll trying to be tactful and discreet, our minds are dancing around the fact that between minis you never know what will happen. Let’s make it shoulder to shoulder and.. .ahem.. .“cheek to cheek” at this one.

Dear Friends'
With all of the other bad medical news I just read, I hate to add some more.  My dear friend, and your classmate, Buster Goss passed away Sunday March 24 of a stroke.  His brother Bill Goss notified me yesterday.  His funeral is set for Lake Pointe Church, Rockwall, April 5 at 3 pm.  He was about the closest thing to a brother, and I will miss him.  He had been in declining health for several years, and now he is gone.  He leaves behind an only daughter.  He grew up on Overton Road near Denley Dr., wend to J. Neely Bryan, Holmes JHS, and all the way to the spring semester '66, then dropped out.  I will try to make the mini meet in April, and hope to see a lot of you.

Cathy - Guess I owe you & Fred a double apology - late getting it posted & got the number of years wrong to boot - dang!

So, it was 1970 instead of 1979?  I'll correct my master listing right away!  Now, y'all go enjoy your champagne, pina collada, TX Twister, or whatever you're having this evening! [thumb]

I'm encouraged to hear that Eileen will soon be with her family again.  At the same time, I'm saddened to hear that a whole new chapter opens in her struggle to readjust, while her family's resources are stretched beyond their means to support her needs, as best they can.

I personally don't feel it's too much to ask that we try to support our friends, classmates, vets, or whomever, with whatever we can afford to share or brings someone comfort - if only a hug, pat on the back, phone call, text message, card, or donation.

You'll never kill 'em with kindness ... [cool]
