Place: Edmond OK Comments: Want me to attach a GPS tracker to the Den?😉
Place: Richardson Comments: Paul, I understood perfectly. We can't go around being depressed/sad all the time. None of our friends would want that. I talked with Vernon Moreland & Bovie late yesterday after I got home from Randy's services. Both are coming to the Mini. We are going tot have a great turnout! Remember: April 13th @ the Hyatt Hotel. See our Events page for full details. Paul - your RSVP for a hug has been accepted! I would like to see lots of smiles, hugs and good memories of good times remembered and shared at the Mini. This time I promise I'll bring my Den. It's the great reproduction Fugate did for our 40th. I use it all the time because my original '66 Den is so fragile. I do expect to get it back when we leave the Mini.
Place: Edmond OK Comments: Please take my reservation for a hug. 😍. I hope everyone understood my comments. No intention to ignore the pain of our losses but wanting to encourage a positive outlook for the future These have indeed been very tough times
Place: Richardson Comments: You are right Paul, we need to be able to celebrate life and the good memories we had with friends who have left us. I think some of us are just pouring out our sad feelings and hopefully will feel better and more joyful at the Mini. Our friends would want nothing less than for us to have a good time with each other. So let's remember them the way they would want . . . being happy & celebrating life! Just know in advance . . . everyone is getting a hug from me!! ![]()
Place: Edmond OK Comments: Hopefully we can balance the mood at the mini so that good friends are conscientiously remembered while still being positive about the ones who remain. This has been an emotionally draining couple of months so it is important we make this mini a celebration: of positive and fond remembrance but also of what a great class we have still remaining. A lot of wonderful people are still with us; we should not forget that.
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Robert H. McMillan, I am glad to hear you are recovering. And, I am sure all of our fellow SOC '66ers are glad you are doing better, too. It is so sad that we have so many classmates passing away or are sick these days. Part of growing older, I guess But so many of our class members are either sick or are dying that the loss of our friends is really doing a number on me. I feel so lonely knowing they are no longer with us. For me, this was not something I thought about when I was younger. Now, though, I cannot ignore it. So thankful we still have a good group with us. After all of our class parties, I now thank God for those of us who are still with us. And, glad to hear you are doing better. Take care of yourself.
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: Janice, you have always been such a caring person. That is what I always liked about you. I was able to sit and talk with Randy for awhile at the 70th party. It was the best talk he and I had ever had with one another. I rememberd to him about what a "nut" he was in school. Whenever I saw him, I knew I would soon be laughing. He just said something to me like, "Did what I had to do to keep 'em smiling." Such a typical Conine response. I was able to tell him I loved his sense of humor. His humor often took everyone by surprise. I am so sad to hear he died. But I am so enlightened to find out what a great and caring person he grew up to be. Can you imagine how it would be if all of us in the Class of '66 were as loving and caring as Randy. What a remarkable person to make such an influence on his students' lives. That has boosted up in a VERY positive way, the way I think of Randy Conine from here on out. What a powerful influence that has for all of us. Janice, as always, I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming mini.
Place: Plano, TX Comments: I was so sadden on Sunday morning when I learned of Randy C.'s passing. While, I did not know him as well as many of you, it was heart breaking that he and several others, Buster and David, also have passed. I was attending my church yesterday, and asked a group of praying folks, my Sunday school class, to pray for Randy and others, their loved ones, friends going through this difficult time. I will be at The Mini in April and look forward to talking to all attending. You all are special! Janice
Place: Allen, Texas Comments: I am SO sad to hear of the recent deaths within our group. SO glad I was able to sit and talk to Randy at the 70th party. We had a good time chatting. But I had no idea he had lung problems. Thank goodness, we only talked about happy things. Randy was a bigger class clown than I was. I liked his way of making all of us laugh. Somehow, I never thought about how many friends we would lose as we would be reaching our senior years. It is the #1 thing I HATE about getting older. When we are younger, we just do not think about losing our friends. But now that we are in our senior years, it really hits me hard. I am sure I am not the only person who feels this way. I have had Randy on my mind lately, and I did not know why. I have been hoping he would be at our mini so maybe I could figure out why. Now I know. I cannot imagine him being deceased. Just does not feel right at all. Thank you, dear Annette, for posting that link to a great tribute to Randy.
Place: Richardson Comments: Annette, thank you for that great link to the DCCCD featuring Randy. And yes, he was a good man that cared about kids and their education and well being. I appreciate the kind words, but right now I don't feel like a good link, I feel like a broken link. It breaks my heart to update the Memorial page with friends names. I will be at randy's services tomorrow. Please remember our upcoming Mini on April 13th @ Hyatt Hotel on Campbell Rd @ Hwy 75. We have a lot of people coming from all over, so show up and have fun visiting with some classmates who don't often come to the Minis.
Place: The Woodlands Comments: So very sad to lose such a wonderful person. Prayers for his family. https://www.foundation.dcccd.edu/page.aspx?pid=691
Place: Melissa, Texas Comments: I was just checking Facebook and the Guestbook after a very long day. I was saddened to see the news about Randy and Buster. We are very fortunate to have these outlets to gather the latest information on old and dear friends. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families. Sandy, thank you so much for being the link that keeps us together and informed. 🙏🏻
Place: Sunnyhills fl Comments: So sorry to hear about all of our classmates that have passed and are ill. I just had back surgery a few weeks ago but am recovering well. My sister who graduated in 1960 has been in ICU but is doing better. My prayers are with you all
