Place: Calif. Comments: SNL, I know. I'm quite rattled by this. Randy and I did a "lot' of running around together back in the day, and were just reconnecting.
Place: Update on Classmates Passing!! Comments: OMG Richard!! You were typing the same time I was. I can't believe Randy Conine just passed away. He was in the hospital waiting for a lung transplant. Geeezz. Man, our class needs prayers because this is so much to bear.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Larry for sharing the sad news. I'm so sorry for your loss, I know you were close. You were so kind at our 50th to go get Buster & bring him to the reunion on Fri night & get him back home safely. In just under 6 months, we have lost 4 classmates. As Paul has said , let's all make it a priority to be at the Mini on 4-13. I don't want to miss out on seeing so many dear friends. God Bless the Class of '66.
Place: Calif. Comments: I just heard from Randy Conine's wife. He passed away yesterday. Just the worst news.
Place: Edmond OK Comments: While rough times like this won’t last forever and more normal times will return, this points out why all of us who reasonably can should make this particular mini. I am sure that while we are wll trying to be tactful and discreet, our minds are dancing around the fact that between minis you never know what will happen. Let’s make it shoulder to shoulder and.. .ahem.. .“cheek to cheek” at this one.
Place: Dallas Comments: Dear Friends' With all of the other bad medical news I just read, I hate to add some more. My dear friend, and your classmate, Buster Goss passed away Sunday March 24 of a stroke. His brother Bill Goss notified me yesterday. His funeral is set for Lake Pointe Church, Rockwall, April 5 at 3 pm. He was about the closest thing to a brother, and I will miss him. He had been in declining health for several years, and now he is gone. He leaves behind an only daughter. He grew up on Overton Road near Denley Dr., wend to J. Neely Bryan, Holmes JHS, and all the way to the spring semester '66, then dropped out. I will try to make the mini meet in April, and hope to see a lot of you.

Place: LV, TX Comments: I'm encouraged to hear that Eileen will soon be with her family again. At the same time, I'm saddened to hear that a whole new chapter opens in her struggle to readjust, while her family's resources are stretched beyond their means to support her needs, as best they can. I personally don't feel it's too much to ask that we try to support our friends, classmates, vets, or whomever, with whatever we can afford to share or brings someone comfort - if only a hug, pat on the back, phone call, text message, card, or donation. Place: Richardson Comments: I suggest each person that would like to help Eileen & her dtr Valerie make it thru this bad health crisis, send a check made out to Valerie & mail it directly to Valerie's address below. Enclose the check in a card with encouraging sentiments for Eileen & Valerie. Hey Richard Carter, why don't you bring a card & we can all sign it at the Mini & I'll even stamp & mail it so it goes out Monday morning! I also know there is a Go Fund Me account on FB for Eileen & Valerie. But whatever you choose to do, donations are a personal decision as to who/what causes you donate, I just want to make sure everyone knows about it. REMEMBER: Spring Mini, April 13 @ Hyatt Hotel 75 & Campbell. Valerie Maxfield, 609 W. Chestnut St., Denison, TX 75020. This is Eileen's dtr & where she will be staying.
Place: Eileen Sandefer Harvey Update Comments: I've gotten some new info about Eileen. Apparently stroke was pretty bad, she is still having difficulty speaking. However she has been learning to use a walker and is doing better on it. Not out of hospital yet, but may go to rehab any day now. However, that's where the problem starts. Eileen will need 24/7 care when she gets out of the rehab. She will have to go to her daughter's home so someone can take care of her. Her dtr is also about to become a grandma any day now (Eileen will be a great G-ma) and has other children. There's no good way to say this, so please, don't get mad but . . . they are so poor. They don't have any money. On FB they have a Go Fund Me Acct to raise money so she can hire some help to take care of Eileen for a few hours each day. I know some don't like to give to a Go Fund Me so I'm giving you a chance to help by directly sending a check to Valerie in order to help Eileen & her get by. Here's the direct name & mailing address if you wish to donate to them. God bless them, as this is going to be a long road. Valerie Maxfield, 609 W. Chestnut St., Denison, TX 75020. Also, cards would be nice as well. Eileen will be living with her dtr until she is able to fully recover from the stroke.

John, If you're lurking out there, we hope you're having a great day of male spoilage, being waited on hand & foot – or at least, not having to walk very far to wait on yourself, in case Dru missed her cue. Place: LV, TX Comments: I also checked in on Charles Moss last week, since he had a pretty serious health scare & hospital stay not long ago. Also wanted to make sure he got the word about the mini, and he replied: "Plans now are to be there. Hope we have a good turnout." |
