Don, please take my advice I gave you a few years ago β€œget a stationary bike.”  It’s soooo much safer & you can program it to any adventure you wish.  You’re a good nurse Sandy.  Glad you are on the mend.

For those who've noticed I've been scarce here & FB, there's a reason,  On 8-28 my husband,Don, took a bad fall on his bicycle, worst yet!  He was riding fast trying to cross the 3 lane st. to go from one trail to another. Hit an uneven & separation in the concrete.  Fell on left side & slid down the pavement & crashed into the curb.

Bottom line: Kind strangers called ambulance & on way to ER Med Tech called me.  He has a broken L elbow & a long deep laceration on left arm. R arm has broken wrist. Both places have metal plate & screws. In addition, as you might imagine, lots of bruising, contusions, swelling & strawberries.  It's been difficult on both of us. [rolleyes]

It's been 4 weeks today & there is improvement this week.  At least he can now move both hands enough to hold a small 6 oz styrofoam cup & small fork.  But as y'all know, I don't put all of my personal life on FB, hence, I wanted to post it here so you wouldn't think I've disappeared.  It's been a hectic 4 weeks for me. [smile]

Dietra, always good to hear from an old classmate.  Is Howard your maiden or married name?  Your post indicated you may not have gone on to SOC with us.  By any chance was Dwight Howard your brother?  Thanks, Sandy (Norman) Lynn

I just realized I haven't posted anything on this site regarding our good friend, Lonnie Harmon, passing away on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025. It's been on FB but I know some of you aren't on FB. Lonnie was from the class of 1964 and he took pictures at al the reunions, b-day parties and other events for the classes of '63, '64' '65 and '66.

He was a kind and gentle soul and shared his pics with all of us. He was diagnosed with cancer late last year and by March of 2025 he went into Hospice. His son said his dad's last wish was to be cremated and no funeral. Instead he asked for Brian ( his son) to have a party for all his SOC friends! I'll let you know when there is any further information. But, there won't be any services.

RIP Lonnie, you are missed so very much and the memories you gave us will be forever!

i know not everyone is on FB, so wanted to let you know that another classmate, Kenny Pope, passed away on 7-31-25. I saw the info from his dtr on FB late Tuesday night. Apparently he had been outside doing some yard work, came in to use the bathroom and slipped and fell in the bathroom. He hit his head.

That's all the info I was able to find. If I see anything else I will let you know. He hasn't updated his info in 10 yrs, so last address I had was Austin. But based on a post I read, he may have lived in E. TX?

Just finished talking with Charles, try not to keep him too long as talking can be difficult for him.  But he certainly sounded better than he did when he left the hospital 10 days ago.  He said Gary & Deanna had just called him before me.

His longtime friend is there cleaning and making him some food for the week. God has stepped in and has given him some relief for now.  Hopefully he will have many good days ahead and not have to back to the hospital for a long while.

Comments:
I spoke with Charles this morning.  Today is 3 weeks he's been in the hospital.  Dr.s have told him there's not much else they can do for him & his current condition may be his new norm. He's had a lot of difficulty breathing and can't get much air.

they want to do more tests but he said he's been down that road and it doesn't do any good so he told them he just wants to go home since nothing else they can do for him.  He hopes he will be released late today but no later than tomorrow.  Please add Charles to your prayer list as his C.F. has taken it's toll and he isn't doing well at all.

As all of us here in TX have been in utter disbelief about the horrible tragedy that has taken place in the Hill Country, it continues to get worse day-by-day with more bodies being found. Still over a hundred that are missing, probably many more, we continue to learn of more each day.  All we can do, besides donate, is to pray.

But, here's a person I ask you to add to your prayer list, Charles Moss. He entered the hospital before the July 4th weekend & is still there. In his words, he can't get any air! They're trying to remove the fluid that's built up around his heart &in his lungs. That  helps, but he has been having great difficulty breathing for the past month or so. Dr.s weren't very encouraging, telling him "this may be your new norm". [frown] Most all of you know the health problems he has had all his life with Cystic Fibrosis, but he has managed to keep going and will be 77 on 8-31. Just know he is having trouble breathing & that means talking.  If you call, don't wear him out. [smile]  Prayers if you please, the more the better.  Thank you!

Paul, as this horrible tragedy unfolded late last night and this morning, it's worse than anyone can imagine.  I'm sick over it and all I can think about is those young girls missing and most likely swept away.  I can't even imagine their parents and the torture they're going through today waiting and praying for the best .

Like you, all I can do is pray they find them alive and pray for everyone involved. Gov. Abbott did say last night on the 10pm news that the search and rescue would go on all night last night, 5 helicopters & 30 boats, and continue until all were rescued or found.  Additional help arrives today.
