Just got back from the holiday Inn and paid the 50% deposit for our reunion. Please, if you are planning to attend our Reunion, send in your check. It's important to know how many will be there as all the pricing is based on the number of people. They can't wait until the last minute, I will need to give them a realistic number about 13 days before 9-26 and pay the final payment.

I encourage yo to go to our website  https://www.soc1966.com/ and look at the EVENTS page and our 60th Reunion page. They've got all the info!!

There hasn't been a date set yet for Dane's Memorial Service I will post it here & on FB when I get the lnfo. Dane's son, Blake, posted about his dad's passing on 7-12 on Dane's FB pg.. Recently he posted they haven't been able to get a date & time yet from the National Cemetery. they only do burials M thru F, not weekends. He will post as soon as he can get a date from them.

Dane was a proud Marine, so yes, it will be at the National Cemetery.

Good to see Judy Bass & Linda Rich again, it's been a long time.  Thank you to Karen Louton, Janice Sims, Karen Davis & Darlene Moree for your generous donations at the luncheon to the SOC '66 Fund! I call it the SOC Kitty. [smile] The fund actually helps pay for our Website, Domain Name & GB. Thanks to so many who have donated this year, much appreciated!

A big Thank You to Rusty Powers for seeing and responding to the posts Don L and I made regarding Dane being a Marine. He confirmed Dane was a Marine and when he joined, also that he too had been a Marine. We didn't know that fact.

Thanks Rusty, and thank you for your service!

Don Lincoln - I can assuredly say, Yes Dane Thornton was in the Marines.  I've seen pics of him in his uniform and a pic of him in a Marines T-shirt. numerous times at some of our old get-togethers he and a few other Marines would do the Semper Fi.  He was one tough guy and loved riding that
Harley!

Maybe when we see his obit it might give us some detail and dates.  If not I bet Janet Hohhertz would be able to give me some of the details. Let's  see how this plays out.  For now I'm still really sad about it and it breaks my heart. Later Don . . .

Comments:
Yes, unfortunately, Dane Thornton passed away at the hospital early Sunday morning, 7-12. He's had diabetes for some time and he suffered a stroke. His son posted on Dane's FB page and his s-n-l, Janet Hohhertz. confirmed it. They will let us know about services when arranged.

Please keep Dane's wife, Debbie, as well as his children and Janet in your prayers. He as a tough, funny and good guy who loved being a Dallas Motorcycle cop.

Military Vet E-mail Failures
Hey folks - The last few times I’ve sent e-mails to our vet classmates, I’ve received failure notices for a few of them:
Donnie Fox, Bill Nelson & Bill Byrum (Teubner).
Sandy kindly offered to check around on FB for any info to help re-establish contact.
If you have any info that might be helpful in re-connecting with them, I’d appreciate a call, text or e-mail.
Many thanks - Don
