Place: Richardson Comments: Toni & Bruce - Seems like only a very few years ago we we're watching y'all get married aboard that bid cruise ship and it was streamed live via internet. I even figured out how to capture some of the frames & I posted them on the SOC site. Happy Anniversary you two!!
Place: LV, TX Comments: Slipped up on event reminders for the 18th - my apologies for the belated posts! H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Annette Fortson Franjie, for July 18th! Annette – We hope you enjoyed your big day with wining, dining & gifts from all your loved ones. Best wishes & many happy returns! H a p p y 14th A n n i v e r s a r y to Toni Rogers & Bruce Jones, for July 18th! Notes from 2005 say: “Married in international waters while enroute to Alaska aboard the ‘Sapphire Princess’ cruise ship - marriage license issued in Bermuda!” Major congrats to you two love-birds & best wishes for many more!
Place: Richardson Comments: Don left just before 8 this morning to meet our dtr in Temple and PU the 2 boys. They're on the way back now. Be here about a week. I've made a Texas Sheet Cake & will start on meatloaf & mashed potatoes later for dinner tonight with green beans & rolls. Man . . . those 2 boys can eat! We'll get the girls early in Aug. Love having them but it sure will wear you out trying to keep them entertained or just keeping up! LOL If they're interested, we're going to try out the iFly venue in Frisco. Should be interesting! Anyone else taken the leap into air as if you are sky diving??Gotta go, go clean up the mess I made in the kitchen.
Place: Hot in Richardson Comments: What a great memory Ada Ann! Yes, I think anyone from Oak Cliff, musician or not, knew the Mystics. I still have a hard time realizing David is gone. At his funeral the last closing song was "Didn't We Have A Good Time,Baby!". I was OK up until that point . . . . couldn't keep from smiling as the tears ran down my cheek.
Place: NH Comments: When we met Jimmie Vaughn after his show, I told him that I graduated from SOC with the Mystics. The first thing he said was "Didn't we have a good time, Baby"...some things are never forgotten.
Place: Richardson Comments: Richard - like where you're going with this. Not sure they would be warm & fuzzy over us doing it in the bar and not paying anything. I get the bars for free - No Charges-and they make money on the drinks we order. My biggest challenge is convincing them to Open the Bar at 2:00pm! Most all the hotels I've worked with don't open their bars on a Sat or Sun until 4 or 5pm. In fact, the Holiday Inn where we had our 70th now has a new chef. He would not allow us to use the bar for our spring Mini unless I would guarantee him a set amount of food & drink would be ordered! I tried to explain but he wouldn't budge. That's why we had it at the Hyatt.
Place: Calif. Comments: SNL, that's an easy one. Some of you married folks just renew your vows and the hotel will give you priority. In fact.....all you married folks can renew your vows; it will make headlines. Just thinkin' out loud here.
Place: Sunny & Hot in Richartdson Comments: Janice, Carol and all the others who have inquired about when the Mini will be . . . I can't believe it!! This is great, people are actually excited about attending and wanting to make plans. This is a dream come true. OK, I can't be exact because sometimes the hotels don't want to cooperate but, I'm shooting for Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019. I will try again for the Hyatt where we had it last time. The problem I've had in guaranteeing a hotel location the last 5-6 years is that so many hotels are now hosting big bridal showers on Saturdays and large wedding parties that last from Fri for the rehearsal, Sat wedding and Sun morning breakfast! Whatever happened to having a rehearsal at a restaurant and your wedding at a church? Anyway, hopefully nothing big will be going on that Saturday & as usual we'll have the bar to ourselves.
Place: Hot & Sunny Richardson Comments: I'm going to repost the info about Dane Thornton as we've had a lot of posts since then. Here's the info: Post Acute Medical (they call it PAM) 1001 Raintree Circle Allen, TX 75013 972-908-2000 - main # Per Janet, he will be having P.T. twice a day & he also needs his rest. That being said, he would love to see some of his classmates!! Janet thought after 3:00pm might be good time , but suggested you call to verify P.T. times and what would be good time for Dane. Also, please keep your stays short and upbeat. He needs our support. Loosing a limb is a traumatic event.
Place: Plano Comments: Good Morning! Sandy, Do we have a date for the Fall Mini-reunion? Praying for all classmates to be 100% healed and well! Thanks, Janice
Place: Richardson Comments: Praying indeed!! For you and the other really sick and trying to recover classmates. Hang in there my friend!!
Place: Edmond Comments: Good evening Sandy. Doing well as I hope both you and Don are. I start my (hopefully) last cycle of chemo tomorrow (6 infusions over 3 weeks) then a bone marrow on 6 August to see if we can proceed with the stem cell procedure. Here’s praying....
Place: Richardson Comments: Oh my, aren't we observant tonight. No, Richardson is still a darn good place to live, but it does have several dog parks! How are you this Monday Paul? Almost complete on these rounds of chemo I hope, at least coming down the finish line. Has anyone gone to see Dane yet?
Place: Edmond Comments: Rich”arf”dson. That is not a hint that Richardson is going to the dogs is it? 😉
Place: Richarfdson Comments: Don, I'd never delete a post just because me , or Jack, have trouble reading it. But you gotta remember, not all of us these days have our great 20/20 we used to have even with glasses or surgery. And then, some of us are just s-l-o-w! LOL ![]() (I'm talking about Jack)Hey, I do think some of us who are local in the area will go see him now that he's in rehab & can have visitors. I also plan to send some cards to the rehab center. Each time I talk with Janet I ask her to tell Dane & Debbie that all of his SOC friends are praying for him and send our best wishes for a good recovery. I know you aren't on FB but Dane made a post a few days ago thanking all his friends for all the prayers sent his way. Once I know he's leaving rehab I'll let everyone know so they can send cards to his home address. Even now would be OK & inside a note asking Debbie (his wife) to take them to him. |
