I didn't expect her to remember my name because she was so upset. I did talk to Mike's stepson his cousin and some friends, As well as the minister who said some nice things about Mike. There were three Navy men who folded the flag and gave it to Myrna.

That was really nice of you Rick.  I spoke with Myrna today and she told me a very nice SOC person came to the cemetery yesterday.  She couldn't remember your name but said you weren't able to come to the services Sat.  My first thought was you, then she described you and I told her I thought it was Rick Watts.  Thanks Rick, it meant a lot to her.

Missed an anniversary on Fri. - was on the road between here & up there ...

Belated H
a p p y  45th n r ay to Roe & Carolyn Burrow for Oct. 4th!

Roe – You & Carolyn are our only October couple on the anniversary list, for now at least.  Interesting note from your g/b post back on 10/4/10: “Hi Y’all,  just read about Ada and Joe's anniversary and it dawned on me today is our anniversary, 36 yrs with the same old woman.  It’s not easy being married to Carolyn ... I need a special award for lifetime achievement, medal of honor, etc.”

Since we've seen you walking around without crutches or casts since then, we’ll assume Carolyn never saw that g/b entry.  Major c
ongrats to both of you & best wishes for many more (with or w/o medals)!

I'm repeating the info on Speedy's Memorial Service for those just looking at our GB.

Calvary Hill Baptist Church,  3300 La Prada Dr.,  Mesquite, TX 75150,
11:00am Saturday, October 5, 2019.  Speedy requested NO Flowers!  He asked instead if you were so inclined to please make a donation to his church which is shown above.  If yo do, I'd put a note with it indicating it was made in honor of Mike Harrison.

There is no obit yet, but will post link when it is available.

I plan to attend Speedy's service and will deliver at least one of those hugs for you, Jack.  From the response here, it sounds as if there will be many.

I don't know if this will ring a bell with, much less humor, any of you Lisbon Lions at a time like this.  But, I had to transfer to Oliver before finishing 1st grade at Lisbon and wound up playing football in later years.

I don't think I ever had to chase Speedy.  But, I recall your Coach Johns got pretty upset because I intercepted a couple of passes and ran them back without getting tackled, although several players probably should've.

In fact, he came into the end zone after the 2nd one and demonstrated how to grab me around my legs next time, instead of just diving toward me, while yelling at his team.  He was a big guy and had me worried for a bit, til he finally sent me on my way - whew!

I'm so sad from our loss of Speedy. I've known him since 1st grade. I was one of his blocking backs on the Lisbon Lions football team. My job was to go through the opening the linemen made ahead of Speedy and block the guy at the next level. If I didn't move my guy out of the way, Speedy just ran over both of us. He always came back to the huddle smiling that Speedy smile. We had our ups and downs over the years, like most friends do, but always got passed them. He always had a story and that smile. I remember a lot of good times and will miss him. I will not be able to attend his service, Please hug Myrna for me and give her my regards and apologies for not being there.  Speedy, thanks for being my friend and may you rest in peace.

It's really been nice and uplifting reading all the heartwarming sentiments and memories about Speedy. He will be missed. Have known him since 1st grade.  He was always smiling and he had a kind and good heart.  RIP my friend.
