Gary - Thanks for the update on Charles.  I texted him this a.m. that we'd be praying for him and that he'd come back from this procedure like the tough old bird he's always been.

Prayers for Charles for a good outcome. And prayers for those who will be caring for him.

This us an URGENT need for Charles Moss! He will have a heart procedure tomorrow, time unknown so far. They are going to explore to find out why his heart is not functioning well, and that he even may have had a heart attack. Normally, Charles doesn't like things posted. I was going to post anyway, but this time Charles requested I do so. He is really concerned about this, so I am asking everyone who sees this to please pray tonight and in the morning. He needs God's healing hand. Thanks, Gary.

There's seems to be no limit to the depth of predatory behavior that we hear of or witness these days.

In a recent 'Caught On Camera' episode, a couple of young guys were being sought by police for committing multiple acts of assault, vandalism, burglary, home invasion and robbery against senior citizens in the U. K.

Sometimes, these guys stole wallets, purses, or packages right off these folks on city streets.  Other times, they'd barge into apartments or homes and take whatever they wanted, while frail or handicapped occupants could do little more than watch as the thugs filled large bags and pushed their way past them.

Fortunately, the U. K. has a very elaborate CCTV system, but it primarily covers city streets and government areas.  Cops had to predict where the bad guys might strike next until they finally caught up with them.  But only a portion of the stolen goods was recovered.  Many of these items were priceless to the victims, including what the thieves destroyed during break-ins.

As I recall, their sentences were very light, compared to the financial, physical and emotional damage to those victimized.  I think they got a few years each, plus some community service.  What's happened to the Brit sense of justice we've all seen and read about over the years?  Their heads should've been on spikes, period!

But, if not, maybe something more creative - like having them hoisted up by their ankles, until all the affected residents, their friends and extended family members, can stop by to visit the new neighborhood "pinatas" - just bring your favorite stick ... [sneaky]

I guess it is safe to assume they have little morality and equally little conscience.  How do you get up every morning intending to perform criminal acts, causing hurt and harm, and think, “I’m good with that.”?

Roe, I'm so sorry you have to deal with these despicable things.  Unfortunately, I got one of Kathleen's friends request too.  Kathleen and I were friends on FB.  I also got one from Sue Ash about 2-3 weeks ago.  It makes me very sad and then angry at the awful people who do this.

Sandy, placing this on your site so Roe Burrow can see it. Someone has hacked into Kathleen Pulte’s FB site and is sending requests under her FB site. If he can he needs to contact FB and remove her FB page and account and get her pictures. There is a place in settings where you can assign a friend or family member to remove your account and access your pictures when you pass away for this kind of hacking problem. Hopefully Roe can do something about her account cleared. I have my daughter assigned to remove my pics and close my account for me. Everyone should do this, keeps the hackers from using your profiles. Thank you.

Just saw a post on FBook ( the site is SOC) that Tom Manton has passed away. He was 94.
Always enjoyed his Senior English Class. Which says a lot about his enthusiasm and really being in his students. Great man.

Hey, Roe - Guess I never thought about stirring up trouble with Carolyn by posting a simple anniversary note on the g/b - she never looks at it anyway ...
But, I'll better be more careful, til next year.

In the meanwhile, now that you've gone and blurted out that little secret, I wouldn't be surprised if one of your really long-time buds or lady-friends had bales of copies air-dropped all over your property.

So, don't get rid of any ace bandages, braces, casts, splints, crutches, slings, walker - just sayin ... [sneaky]

Rick - Glad you were able to make it out to DFW to spend time with Speedy's family.  Assuming it was the same pastor (I think they had 3), he had nothing but glowing remarks for him during the church service.

He went into some detail describing how he admired Speedy for the calmness he displayed and confidence in knowing he'd made his peace ahead of time.  And this may have provided some comfort to those around him, who might rest a bit easier, if he was.

On one occasion, the pastor said he was trying to lead a group of visitors in prayer who were gathered at his bedside.  But for various reasons (maybe inattention, movement, chatter, etc.), they weren't cooperating.  But, before he could gain control of the situation, Speedy apparently stretched out his arms on both sides to get them all to hold hands, plus his for a moment, and he took charge of the prayer!

Before leaving the church service, I told Myrna that I never received a Navy photo from Speedy back when I was putting together the SOC '66 Vets slide-show for the 45th reunion - he wasn't the only one.  But, thanks to the pix on display Sat., I now have one and will use it to complete his slide and send her a framed copy.  I did the same for Shirley Mitchell when some of us went up to DFW for David's military service a while back.
