Comments:
Barb talked to Jeannie Smith today and she went to Southwestern to see the Dr last week.  They did a biopsy and she will get the results sometime this week.  She is going to have her first chemo treatment the Wednesday before Thanksgiving!  She sounded in good spirits!  Keep the prayers going for her.

I didn't see that story in the paper but was instrumental in getting the ring back to Roy.  Perry's son & his girlfriend were internet savvy.  Once they saw the 3 initials and the school name on the ring they went online and found our class website. She contacted me via email and told me the info.  It took only a minute to pull out the list and see only one person had those initials.

I told her I would contact Roy and ask for a name and number he could contact. At our 50th, a short few days later, I told the story and we all marveled at how 50 years later for our 50th reunion Roy's ring was reunited with him. I just loved how nice and caring Perry and his son & his son's girlfriend were in wanting to get the ring back to it's owner.  Thanks for sharing the article John, it was fun reading the events and remembering the story again.

I may be repeating old news with this ... but today I came across a fascinating "metal detecting" treasure hunt which was written up in the September 22, 2016 issue of The Dallas Morning News. I haven't met Roy yet but I do recall his older brother Frank from the Class of 1961. Frank passed away in September, 2022.

For those of you who missed it, here is the remarkable tale:  https://www.dallasnews.com/news/2016/09/22/south-oak-cliff-grad-reunited-with-class-ring-50-years-after-it-was-lost-in-a-snowball-fight/

No, I haven't seen anything here or FB from Ada Ann.  I'm sure they're keeping her very busy at the rehab facility she is in and probably very tired from all the work.  But it would be so nice just to see a post from her, if only a few words.

Still in the hospital.   I have those pumper things on my legs, my arm is totally numb, I have an ice machine on my shoulder and back - but they brought me chocolate cake for dessert and it was great.  Dr took a sample to be analyzed for infection etc since the rotator cuff surgery did not work.  He has put me on an antibiotic just in case.  Nurse said to be prepared - when the numbness wears off the pain will set in!  So optimistic.  Bobby and Linda just left to go eat and go home.

Greetings, All – I’m including the YouTube link for this year’s SOC '66 Vets slide-show:

Updates include a new slide (incomplete info) for Chris Oefinger, discovered to be a Vietnam vet after his obit was posted on the GB recently. Also added are cross symbols alongside names of other deceased vets, Jim Martin, Larry Thomas, and J. D. Garoutte.

May each of you enjoy a peaceful, reflective day of observance in recognition of all who served in the past, as well as those still serving.

Saluting all.  – Don

Monday, 11-11, is Veteran's Day. Thank you to all who have served and those currently serving our country.  We grew up with the Vietnam War all thru our SOC years and beyond. I'm grateful for all who returned and heartbroken for those who didn't.

May God Bless the USA and ease the tension and end the wars currently going on around the world so the US never has to get involved in another war. Thank you to all our SOC Veterans!!

Hi!
Thanks for the update on Ada Ann and also Karen. Ada Ann will have great care in Rehab. Karen’s upcoming surgery -we will add to our prayer list. Of course, Jeanne will be in our prayers.
I’m thinking about putting up Christmas decor, but Randall doesn’t know yet. 😱….But I think he will be ok with it. We will see.
Our ❤️ to all. Remember-God has got this! Nothing is Too big for Him!
