Incredibly tragic. Great words of wisdom, Sandi: we are not supermen and are especially vulnerable in this heat. RIP Larry.

Place: Passing of Larry Thomas

Comments:
It's with such sadness that I was just told by Charles Moss that Larry Thomas passed away yesterday, 6-24-24.  He was at our May 4th Mini and I spent a long time talking with him. Larry's older brother, Bill, called Charles this morning to let him know.  Charles lived close to them growing up in Oak Cliff and was a family friend.

He will be cremated and a Memorial will be announced later. I will try to make a long sad story short.

When the storm came thru early on 5-28, like so many, they lost limbs and had debris everywhere.  Larry got out there and worked really hard by himself clearing it out and cleaning it up.  He got dehydrated. Then their son & DIL were moving in with them because Larry's wife has Alzheimer's.  Larry was helping carry boxes upstairs and got very weak. Next day son took him tho Medical City. He then had a stroke and one side paralyzed. Moved him to rehab but not doing good, moved to care center and another stoke and other side paralyzed. Back to hospital but now brain dead.

This is a very sad ending to someone who was vital and fine 5 weeks ago. Please, realize we aren't Superman anymore and the high heat, humidity and working too much can kill us. Prayers for his family as they make plans to say goodbye to their brother, father and husband. Now the son and DIL will have to take care of their mom, Susan, without their dad.

Place: Girl's Luncheon Update!

Comments:
Yes, we will be having our Girl's July Luncheon on Saturday, 7-20-24, 11:30 at the Southern Recipe.  That's the same place as last year's luncheon and where many of us have met for breakfast.  Loc: 621 W. Plano Pkwy. #229, Plano TX 75075

Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend.  We had a good crowd last year and it was so much fun visiting with those we hadn't seen in a long time. This is also posted on our Events page!

while I know this is going to be a shock - I will probably be there.  We have spent today detailing the inside of the coach.  They are coming to wash and wax it tomorrow and we show it on Friday.  Keep your fingers crossed that they want it.  Shoot, the way it looks right now I want it!  Leave for home in McKinney Saturday morning.

After reading Chris’ obit, I noticed he was a Vietnam combat vet. But, I wasn’t aware of this previously, so he’s not included in our military vets roster.
Do y’all have any details of his service or know of someone who may?

Thank you. Yes, he gave me kisses until the very end.  He knew how much I loved him. It's tough on the heart.

Sandy…so sorry. Kathy and I have been through a similar situation WAY TOO MANY times. When you develop a real connection with your pets it is way too tough to lose them. I’d like to think that the way we feel about them indicates something special about us.

It's with great sadness & a broken heart I let you know our sweet precious Tiger kitty passed away a little earlier today. He had a purr that sounded like a Mercedes. I will miss him next to me at night purring me to sleep. He was my buddy and my heart is broken.  No, I don't want to talk about it.

Thursday morning my brother's home regained power! He was so happy. They spent 2 days and nights here because their neighborhood and even his ofc were without power.  He came home to everything in his Fridge and deep freeze ruined!! Some still don't have power today.

Our neighborhood, like so many, are piled high with trees and brush for pickup.  What a mess. But we're very thankful we never lost power and we didn't loose any large tree branches, just tons of smaller ones.  Many of our neighbors lost entire trees.
