No Sandy McM, they are not from McGee. But once again - -  I ask that you either ID yourself with an adequate name that is recognizable OR put your correct city & state.  If I can't figure out who you are . . . then others can't either.  It's a constant battle to keep ANON posters (some of them are really ugly & nasty) off the site without having to spend time trying to see if something posted (which makes no sense) is from a legitimate SOCite!!  And NO, "South of Oak Cliff" is not considered an address!

If I can't figure out who you are, you'll probably be deleted.  Especially if it's not an appropriate post.  Anyone got any idea what Juan was trying to say???

I assume Guess #1 and Juan are one and the same person.  My guess of this mysterious person would be Sandy Joe McGee.

JWT- You are right about those Holland's hamburgers. Best I ever ate. As I remember it there was Hollands (behind a store front), Safeway, Lisbon School and the V. A. Hospital on the four corners. Buddy, you might be thinking of Arthur's restaurant just a little south of Safeway. They did have those huge servings of meringue pies. Chicken fried steak, fries, salad (3 dressings on the table in plastic squeeze jars) and pie... $1.29  Tea was free with a meal.

Buddy,  I think that there was a small cafe named Holland's or something like that on Ann Arbor just around the corner from Lancaster.  I seem to recall that they also made really gooood hamburgers there(cooked them on that flat grill). Yum Yum, I can still taste them now.

Ronney, when you go to Abilene next week, stop by Arby's next to the Mall. David and Adair McDermott have owned it for 30 yrs. His kids are now running the business. That's a great steakhouse in B. Gap.

I read your churches website.  The history and growth is quite
a testimony to the life long members.  It's apparent many  have been on their knees.  Your church has certainly been blessed.

Sandy McM:

My preacher's name is John Mark Caton. He is GREAT. He is about 43 years old and very dynamic. I like him because he is not afraid to tell the gospel even if it steps on toes. We are at Hwy. 121 just east of Stacy Road. Come visit us sometime.

Check us out at www.cottonwoodcreek.org

We just moved into our new 2,200-seat sanctuary a few months ago. We will be adding 1,400 seats in the future. When I started going there, it was First Baptist Church of Fairview and was a small country church. It has grown like a run-away freight train.

Thanks Buddy for reminding me of Ann's name. I had long since forgotten. She really was a good swimmer so I guess it was okay to be beaten by the best. Congratulations on being a champion swimmer yourself. Years later, I convinced my husband that I could swim faster than him by running to the opposite end and jumping in to beat him to the finish. Incredibly, he insisted we go for 2 out of 3 which of course I easily "won". It was like shooting fish in a barrell.

Well Sammy, my memory has failed on who played what positions. Please step in and get it correct for the record. I know we had an outfield too, but can't remember who. I think one of the reasons we decided to play was the away games and the fact that we got to ride in the back of the pickup truck. Life was simple and fun and the joys were too. For those of us who's jock days ended there, we went out on top.

Ronney, who is your pastor?
My son, his girlfriend and I have been wanting to visit Stonebriar to hear Chuck Swindoll.  I always hate to not be at my church.

Sandy, Steve Cargill played starting first base for Spruce. He made the Texas High School All State Baseball for three years in a row. Batting Average was 525 or close to that.

Haven't heard from him in 20 years or so. He was a real slugger for the Lisbon team. Played short stop then.
