Place: SPRING MINI IS CANCELED!!

Comments:
I didn't make this decision lightly, I've been monitoring things closely.  As of today, I don't think it would be wise or responsible to go forward with the Spring Mini.  Our Spring Mini is Officially Canceled!  Please know this wasn't an easy decision to make but, I believe it's in all of our best interest to be proactive and prudent in keeping ourselves well and not being exposed to the Coronavirus.  Please help me spread the word so everyone knows.  I will put a note on FB as well.

Once this plague has died out, we can reschedule our Get-Together.  Everyone use good judge in "where" and "how" you travel because I want to see all of you in the near future at the next Mini!!

Any thought to postponing the mini this month to maybe later in the summer, due to the plague spreading?  Not a recommendation by the way, just asking.

Change of plans. I can now go to the mini, instead of working that day. Connie, though, will be in Houston.

Quick update on SOC Friends.  Gordy is doing better.  He feels like he's getting stronger each day & his drop foot, although still dropping, is a bit better too.  Hopefully by early next week he can go home.

Larry Lewis - He's still at Kindred Long Term Acute Ctr in Clear Lake.  Will be for some time. He has moments of clarity, knows Martha and her full name and G-kids.  Then it's gone and he's confused and wants to sleep.  But it's still good news because he does have moments of clarity and knows his own name but, unfortunately, it doesn't last too long.  I will continue to pray for a full recovery for both of my longtime friends.

Hi Gang - Barring something unusual, Kathy & I plan join y'all at the mini.

She also had R. knee replacement surgery back on 11/14 and it's been a slow recovery process, hampered by bursitis & arthritis in her R. hip.  Injections haven't helped & sound sleep has been a nightly challenge.

Glad to hear the encouraging news about Larry Lewis and hope it continues.  Hate to hear that Gordy's knee surgery went badly and Dr's got carried away with meds.  Hope he gets a lift going AWOL just in time for the mini.

Carol - like Paul, I'm the 2nd of 2 'dinosaurs' in our class who hasn't created a FB acct.  But, unlike those SumB's who posted unkindly, I send my warmest, heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ollie.  We've lost 4 'fur-babies' during the last few years (2 in Feb. '19) and they're in my prayers along with all my other family & friends in heaven. [cool]

PS.  It is where Kathy and I went on our first date so, anymore, it is greatly a nostalgia thing.

Richard, I will be the first to admit, since being bought, El Fenix is not the same place SOC 66’ers grew up with.

So, Paul I understand the El Fenix recommendation; I grew up on that stuff.  However, the last two times Mary Ann and I tried it while in Dallas, we both got nauseous on that food and couldn't finish it.  Same with fried chicken....depending.  Seems bodies change after 30 years or so and adjust to new environments.  Go figure.

Sandy, I will be working in Royce City the day of the mini. I get off at 6 p.m. Will try to make dinner. Let me know where it will be. Connie will be in Houston for her job. So, she will not be there. I might see if Larry wants to join us. He really liked eating with us the last time.

Richard, you gave excellent advice.  I also recommend going to El Fenix (or for Richard and me our favorite substitute), sitting in the deepest part if the restaurant, surrounding yourself with heaping plates of enchiladas or fajitas and losing yourself in the moment.  🥳

Two smart suggestions Richard!  LOL   I've promised myself I won't go into my account and look unti at least 4-2.  Nothing I can do about it except wait it out.  I've never seen the Dow Jones and Wall Street shut down.  That was a little un-nerving.  But, life goes on and it what goes down .  .  . will eventually go back up.

Y'all have a great day, the sun is shinning here in Richardson and I don't have COVID-19, things are good! [biggrin]

It is always dangerous to say, “This time is different” from past swoons and recoveries but between corona virus, the oil price war, and just general global instability, it has a “perfect storm” feel to it.  Time for lots of prayer for us all.

I've been watching some of the news channels today.  I'm not sure if it's rockin' or droppin'.  Man, they shut down Wall Street due to the free fall.  I'm too afraid to even go into my 401k account to look.  Between the Dow & S&P free falling the worst since the Great Depression and the spreading of COVID-19 .  .  .  I'm actually getting a little nervous.
