Yes ... Ada Ann, Linda, Sandy McM & Toni are all cookin' with gas this week!  Just listening to them is like steppin' back in time!  Apparently they had an upgrade in their memory chips & when they rebooted they were smokin'!!     Nice work girls!

Richard, I hear pay-back can be heck!

Man, the brain cells are in good working order for this group.  How could you remember Goffs?..that was my favorite.  You know, I stood up Rick last week and this week he canceled on me...sounds vindictive doesn't it?

Sorry SNL - It definitely was It's a Small World and I guess I should admit that I have a watch that plays it.

I used to love going to the bakery at Wynnewood.  The cookies were sooooooo good

Jack

I think the ice cream place you were talking about in Wynnewood might have been Goff's.

OK - I have a list now of several people who are definitely in a lot of trouble.  First and foremost - I have traded in my car seat and have now gotten a booster seat.  I finally figured out that the little button on the side of the grown up seat will raise the "big" seat up and down, so the two of them combined gets me high enough to see over the steering wheel!

And now - what do you mean SNL - speaking of short - I'll deal with you on the 16th!!!!!

Sorry girls as much as I would love to join everyone in a trip back to Oak Cliff I am going out-of-town on Friday (I just checked to be sure which day) and will not be back until Monday.

....can you tell I'm goofing off today???  Ada, you mentioned a buy named Hashbrown from the band your b-i-l plays.  Bruce and I hired Kathy Prater and the Hashbrown Band for our wedding reception.  They play a lot up and down lower Greenville Avenue and around DFW.  They were playing at Terilli's  on Greenville when Bruce proposed to me in 2005!  Small world, huh?

Hi Sally!  I remember the Manor Man...he also sold ladies hosiery!!  SNL, my current employer has been friends with Carolyn Egner's mom...small world!  I think I remember that they moved to New Mexico!  I do remember how strict the people at Toy World were but what a great store.  My dad was a real pushover...he'd buy me everything in the store as long as he could carry it out!  Thinking about Wynnewood....remember El Patio and the deli....they were all in a row with the bakery...the mind boggles!

Sandy,  thank you for reminding me of Carolyn's name.  We loved her parent's bakery.  For a real treat we would get roast beef for roast beef sandwiches.

Are you all finished reminiscing?  Who remembers the Manor Man who delivered bread?--AND the best banana cake around!   He delivered bread until I was 5 years old, I think.  Thanks for the snocone and donut memories-- I am now starving!!  think I will have a yogurt--NOT the same.  I loved the drive in donut place.  Krispie Kreme is sort of the same thing but. . .

At least early on, weren't those fair lizards chameleons?
Seems like I spent hours tyring to "play" with the monkeys at Volks while Mom shopped all over Wynnwood. Toy World didn't allow kids without parents in the store. Sally, I am amazed I didn't see you at Fred's on nickle night or was that only a couple of hours in the afternoon?
Tillery worked at the Kroger in Wynnwood. Sometimes I'd wait for him to get off work, hanging out at the hamberger/ice cream store there. What was the name of that joint?

Ada - when I moved to Wisconsin after the military (Dec - 1971) we had more snow that I care to even discuss. it was the norm to have as much as 48 inches by February on the ground and it didn't melt until late April.

Since about 1993 our winters have been pretty mild...and not much snow and nothing like the 70's & 80's...but look out...my current storm is coming your way...and I believe you have part of it already.

It started snowing yesterday at about 3:30 p.m. and as of this morning at 5 a.m. we had somewhere between 10-12 inches and it had not stopped and we do not expect it to stop until sometime later today. I blew the snow at 5 and by the time I took Kathy to work at 6:40 we had another 1-2 inches on the ground.

If we start getting lake effect..where the storm makes circles and picks up moisture from Lake Michigan...it could be like the 70's all over...

Ada...warm up your snow blower...if you don't have one...hire someone to do the work. This is heart attack snow depths...don't shovel!

Be happy the majority of you live in the south...at least you don't have to endure this crap.
