Place: Hotel California (or so it seems) Comments: โWe sure could use a little good news today.โ Thanks for sharing some, Sandy! ๐
Place: Prayers Answered Comments: Yes, we sent a lot of prayers up for Sammy, Larry & Gordy. It is so uplifting to know all 3 are on the road to a good recovery!
Place: Edmond Comments: Alright! God was, for sure, listening. ๐๐๐๐๐
Place: Update on Larry Lewis Comments: There is some good news as well on our SOC '65 friend, Larry Lewis. This week he has made some great improvements! He has begun to be able to eat & drink and his mentation has really improved. Although they moved him to a room without walk-up windows, Martha has been able to go to a glass door and they have continued to talk on the phone while looking thru the glass door. He's getting PT daily and able to walk, although not stable yet. He's actually telling Martha he wants to go home on April15! Martha is telling him he has to get stronger and walk with stability before he can come home because she can't catch him if he falls. Remember, this all started on Feb 11 when Larry went into the hospital for a simple "ablation" to burn off several spots that were causing a problem with his defibrillator. It's been almost two months, but things are looking up! ![]() Things are also looking up for Sammy too as he is now in Rehab & starts PT today. Thank goodness for some good news on our friends!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Yes, talked with Gordy late yesterday, sorry, I forgot to post it. This is his 2nd week home from rehab and he's walking better each day & his drop foot is also improving. Still getting Home Health & PT several times a week. The issue now is a sore on his left heel that won't clear up. It started when he spent so much time in the bed. Nurse has been putting medicine on it but won't heal up. He was to see wound specialist today. Hope Dr can get him something to make it heal better.
Place: Melissa TX Comments: Sandy, that is great news about Sammy! Wishing him a speedy recovery. Any news on Gordy?
Place: Richardson Comments: Saw a post from Sarah Smith this evening saying she & Sammy finally made it to Rehab! Sammy begins rehab in the morning. The Rehab is in the Zale Lipshy bldg next to Parkland. Same place he had surgery but different floor. Yea, now the healing can begin.
Place: North Richland Hills Comments: Linda, would you please give your kids my address?
Place: Richardson Comments: Yes, Linda listing all the wonderful sounding food that her kids delivered to her made my mouth water! Right about now, it feels like the 3rd week on a diet . . . I want all the delicious items at my favorite restaurants or things I can't find at the stores! I'm certainly not hungry or starving, but sometimes you just need that good ol' comfort food or yummy pie! Thanks Linda, are there any leftovers?? ![]()
Place: Edmond Comments: Linda, I was able to concentrate on your post until โtiramisu and coconut cream pie and a Greek salad.โ After that my mind just kind of drifted off somewhere...I have yet to find it...
Place: McKinney, TX Comments: Creeping around the GB. Happy Anniversary to all the March lovebirds, happy birthday to the March babies, and glad that Sammy is improving; I'll toast my decaf tonight to all the 66ers. This morning, walked one of my dogs and while today is cloudy and cool, I felt good that I got some exercise. Two of my children have come by our house, stood in the yard and talked about 15 minutes and one brought a bouquet of colorful gerber daisies along with tiramisu and coconut cream pie and a Greek salad from Eatzies. My other child and 2 grandchildren drove by stayed about 15 minutes and brought lattes, some white cake with buttercream icing and Kirkland Praline Pecans. Anything sweet will make me happy and of course, seeing my children and grands. My 3rd child lives near Austin, but she could mail me something sweet. Just saying..... To each and every one, stay safe, stay sane, and keep your eyes on Jesus. He's the Great Physician.
Place: Quick Update on Sammy Comments: Just got new info. His surgery was Friday. On Sunday PT got him up out of bed and he walked 7 feet with a walker and then sat in chair for nearly 2 hrs. He was exhausted but that's really a good day for him. Sarah has been allowed to stay with him in the room! That's also good news!
Place: Richardson Comments: Really nice to see all the heart-warming sentiments being posted. Sometimes it's good to say what your feeling and express gratitude. I hope more will post.
Place: Uvalde & Arlington Comments: Here's a TOAST to the Class of 1966, living and passed on. Collectively we were the children of the greatest era of America ever. We are the ones who truly lived in neighborhoods like those in the 1950s and early 1960s tv shows. Our children will never know what it was like unless we tell them. Now all of the current generations are threatened, and we are told many of us are at the greatest risk. I Pray that our losses are minimal, and those of us who don't make it are comforted in final days and know how very much they were loved. The Class of 1966 REALLY does seem to be a loving one. Better to express it now than to regret not having done so. We can't have the March 2020 Mini-Reunion, but there will be another Mini in the future. I am curious if we have a map that shows where our Classmates currently reside...and whether there is any interest in having any Mini-Reunions in other sections of the State once a year. Not that I am opposed to my onetime home of Richardson, or that I do not appreciate the efforts necessary to put on each Mini. Take care all.
Place: Edmond Comments: Thanks, Sandy. I felt it was important to recognize how special our class of 66โers (and friends) are. I agree with you. We have not seen the worst yet, but the โsourerโ things get, the sweeter it will be when we emerge from the crisis. How sweet that Fall Mini is gonna be! Hereโs to ๐๐๐ and hereโs to ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ. |
