We are in Galveston now and getting ready for bed.  We went to Fishermen's Wharf for dinner and will be up early to board the ship.  Everytime I start doing something Bobby starts asking 500 questions.  We have not been together 24/7 in awhile.  This should be an experience!  There might be something said for 24 on 48 off schedule of a fireman!  Just kidding guys!!!!

Just got in from a 160 mile trip thru Bellville, Chappel Hill, Brenham area with my sports car club. We set out to view the bluebonnets but turned out to be maybe 2 weeks too early.

Dale, it is sad and ironic that we were just talking about Mr. Headrick 3 days ago. He inspired me to be a Chemistry major, but I ended up in Finance since Arlington State didn't offer a major in Chem. when I enrolled.

This link leads to a copy of a letter I received from RWH four years ago. He mentions an "incident" where he suspects my '63 classmate Michael Egan might be the culprit. Mike was too brilliant to be involved in such a scheme and now it has come out that Bobby Egan (a younger brother) was behind the damage caused by dropping a large firecracker in a toilet.

The letter also references "Frank" who is '61's Frank Goodloe who has a younger brother in your ranks. Here is the letter, excuse the quality:

Headrick was a hard teacher and a good influence.

JWT,
Do you remember the time we were at Mr. Headricks farm and he let us drop some sodium into the creek. As we all know  Na +H2O = NaOH +H2 Since this is a highly exothermic reaction there was a great explosion as the hydrogen gas caught fire and the H2 continued to burn till the Na was all gone. Not too many Chemistry teachers would let you have that kinda fun. He is the reason I minored in Chemistry in college. I even taught Chemistry in Cedar Hill my first year out of school. Mr. Headrick used to tell me he was surprised I passed Chemistry, much less TAUGHT it John Southworth shared a letter Mr. Headrick wrote him several years back. You could tell from the letter that he liked the students at SOC. He was a good'en ! I think we really had great teachers at SOC.
Speaking of the Southworths, we had another delightful lunch with them this week and then went to their beautiful home for dessert. They really have a wonderful home that you can tell they continue to landscape and revise. It's just a great place to call home.

Boy, miss a day, and this board is way ahead of me!  Karen MG, so good to hear you're feeling better---I'm doing a comedy workshop at the Laff Stop, we'll have a show next month.  They want us all to compete in Houston's Funniest Person contest, YIKES, sounds tough!

Jim, speaking of SOC, our movers in Calif. were young Hip Hop looking guys from Dallas---they just gave me the silent treatment until I told them I graduated from SOC.  They were shocked! They REALLY respected me then. They started telling me about the hot new rapper named "SOC" and his song---"Oak Cliff, That's My HooD!  Put it in your face, make it UNDERSTOOD!"  We had a great time singing--look up OAK CLIFF in the URBAN Dictionary---"a place where even Crackz Got Cred!"  We are one tough bunch!

Haven't posted in quite a while.  Been a little busy, but I do keep up with the GB.  Congrats to SNL on her new house and KRL on her new RV.  Also, belated HB to the March Bday guys and gals and Happy Anniv to those who celebrated lately.  Was very saddened to read about Mr. Headrick.  He was truly a great teacher and a fine person.  Many fond memories of him in chem and lots of good times at his farm.  I really enjoyed the visit with him during the reunion. His passing gives us a reason to reflect on the past.

I woke up this morning all excited about my niece's wedding today at noon; and I made the mistake of reading the paper first thing. That's so sad about Mr. Hedrick, besides being a great teacher- he was also a great Sunday school teacher. Remember him cuz and Annette? Trinity Heights CofC.
Shortcake, yall must be millionares to afford the gas for the new RV!! Hope yall will enjoy it and drive carefully.

I read in the paper this mrng that our teacher, Robert Wayne Headrick"  passed away 3-27!  Although it didn't mention he was a teacher all those yrs and no photo, but I know it's our Mr. Headrick.   I recognize the city and his bro, Edwin, was my alternate contact for Mr. Headrick.  He was so much fun at our reunion and sent the nicest "Thank You" note to us for inviting him!  It's in the DMN obits this mrng.

Well - we signed our life away yesterday  Signed the paperwork on our new RV so we could pick it up on the 18th.  That is the official date of completion.  We are really excited.

Almost finished packing!  You know I think when you go on vacation you should just quit packing and leave or you will end up taking everything-especially on a cruise.  I think I need to open my suitecase and take half of everyting out now.  You guys be good while I am gone and TRY to be mind your manners!  Some of you I really worry about.

John, I deal with men from Mexico and South America on a weekly basis. These people will pay $1200 to $2000 to cross the border. They can make more in one day than they do in a  week at home. Americans are so stupid, they don't believe that that can happen to them.
My son sent the clip to me. Now he understands why I took him to the Plano labor center 10 yrs. ago.
