Place: LV, TX Comments: Glad to see the clouds break-up and sun come out late this afternoon so the USAF Thunderbirds could make their fly-over the Austin area. As some of you are probably aware, they've teamed up with the Navy Blue Angels to conduct an aerial salute to our nation's first responders and healthcare workers. The T-Birds covered our entire area, and from our deck, we caught a few minutes of them as they flew up from San Antonio, across Lakeway / Lake Travis and right over Lago Vista. Then, off they went toward downtown Austin. They're always crowd pleasers.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Missed one over the weekend while painting ... H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to James Kidd for May 9th. James - Despite the ongoing semi-isolated conditions, we hope you celebrated a good one this past Sunday and were treated to your favorite home-cooked (or take-out) meal. Best wishes for many more!
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Karen & Jimmie for the kind words and insight. Yes, we learned Thurs. at our 1st follow up appt. with the surgeon just how long it will take just to get out of all the casts. Many weeks with different casts as we go along. But you're right, I do believe if I had a choice of one arm being unusable or a leg . . . it would be the arm! At least he can walk by himself and get up and down from a chair or the bed. Thanks to all who have sent messages or called, we appreciate it!!
Place: Bosque County, TX Comments: Sandy believe me when I say, I totally understand. Last year when Jimmie fell off that ladder and broke his leg our lives changed quite a bit. There are lots of things you cannot do with only one functioning leg also. Just a heads up too, it takes a lot longer to get back up to speed when we do have these kind of accidents. Jimmie and I learned exactly how much longer it can take! Just know you two are in our prayers. Hugs, Karen
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Karen & Jimmie! Oh goodness no, it wasn't a motorcycle. If he had a motorcycle he might just kill himself! He was riding by himself on Tue 4-28. If it wasn't for that darn speed limit sign it would have probably been just a little minor fall. But when he fell he hit the post of the sign with his head and left wrist. He has a good helmet, so no problem. But, his wrist hit the sign pole and it shattered his wrist! We had our 1st follow up appt. with the surgeon today and it will be long road. He does pretty good doing things, but there are some things you just can't do with only one hand.
Place: Bosque County, TX Comments: Sandy, I am so sorry to hear about Don's accident. I haven't been on the guest book lately so it took me a while to find out what had happened. Please give him a "soft" big hug from us and tell him we will keep him in our thoughts & prayers. We'll be praying for you too! Jimmie asked me to ask you, was he on his bicycle? (It wasn't a motorcycle was it?)
Place: LV, TX Comments: Glad to hear news that Don is home from the hospital and will hopefully be able to get some rest, while the mending process continues. Also, good news that Sally is doing well in NYC, despite being at 'ground zero' during the pandemic. In other, news ... H a p p y 48th A n n i v e r s a r y to James & Geneva Young, married on May 6th, 1972, and ... Major congrats to all you love-birds and best wishes for many more!
Place: Carthage, Texas Comments: Sandy so glad Don was able to get home and hope he begins making progress. Ann was Sally having respiratory issues aside from Coronavirus? And glad she is doing better.
Place: Richardson - Don Comments: As you know, I was able to bring Don home Sunday. Sunday night went fine because he was so tired he fell asleep easily. Last night wasn't so good. His arm is still giving him lots of pain and very difficult to sleep at night because he can't bend it. No easy position to get it in. The cast/wrapping comes all the way up past his elbow. We have appt. Monday with the surgeon. One day at a time.
Place: Sugar Land Comments: Today I had the wonderful pleasure of speaking with Sally Taylor. She is doing very well, and was very upbeat. Thank goodness she and her family are fine.
Place: May 3, 2020 Comments: We got home from hospital about Noon. Getting settled & trying to find an old short sleeve button-down shirt that will fit over his cast. Not really happening. Cast so big sleeve won't go on. Got old shirt out of closet & cut the sleeve on the underneath so there is a slit in it. Now, that works. So far, so good.
Place: Don Update 5-3-2020 8:41am Comments: Great News! Don just called & he will be coming home today!! Not sure exactly when, but he will call when I can come pick him up. Thanks so much for the prayers, encouraging words and kind thoughts!
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Mario! Your kind words mean a lot to us. When Don gets home I will give him a print out of your note so he can read it. You are a dear old friend from back on Kildare St. & Lisbon! May there be better times ahead for all of us and God willing . . . we can all get together once again before the end of the year. Hopefully tomorrow will be the magic day & Don can come home.
Place: McKinney, Tx Comments: Sandy, I'm sorry to hear that Don is still going through so much pain after his accident over a week ago. Please let him know that we're praying for him...actually for both of you to get past this as fast as possible. As someone who still has a plate and eight screws on my left leg after a really bad break back in 1976, I'm pretty sure I know the pain he's going through, so let him know that I'm available if he should ever need extra support and encouragement from someone that can relate to what he is going through right now, and most likely will still be for a while as he goes through the healing process part of it. He's too nice of a person to have to go through something so unfortunate like this...stay strong and well, Sandy.
Place: Houston Comments: Sandy, Regret learning this about your Don. Darn it!! We Will be praying 🙏🏻🙏🏻. Love and hugs to all! Janice and Randall |
