Hi, all! Hope that everyone is physically well and as sane as it is possible to be during the current messes.
Sandy - I’m so sorry about Don’s troubles. I broke my wrist in two places in 2003; I know that a lot of physical therapy is ahead for Don.
Regarding the casts - I never had a traditional cast for my wrist. I had what is called an external fixator. It held my wrist in place and was attached with screws to the top of my hand, my wrist, and my lower arm. I believe that it gave me more freedom of movement than a traditional cast would have given. I wonder whether that might be an option for Don.
Love to all; take care. - Carol

Toni - Don is holding his own but there is no comfortable way to sleep or even sit.  His arm is at a 90degree angle and the cast is very heavy.  It's difficult to be able to elevate it without holding it up with the other hand.  Many times in the morning when he wakes it really hurts him.  Tomorrow is 3 weeks down and one to go before we go back to surgeon. Have to go 4 wks with that big cast. It will also be 6 wks since his surgery.

Fingers crossed that next Thursday Dr will remove the long cast and put on a short one.  At least it will be below his elbow and allow him to move it a bit. Don't know how long that cast will be on before it goes to something else.  It is definitely going to be a l-o-n-g summer!!  Thanks for asking, we're managing, but there are soooo many things you can't do with only one hand and the other in an awkward and permanent position!  [rofl][rofl]

In our large circle of SOC , neighbors, old work buddies and family . . .  we don't know anyone who has COVID-19!  But obviously, millions do have it.  We're taking all the precautions we can and praying this plague leaves soon.

Jack, I'm not sure which friends you may be wondering about but, here's the ones I can remember.  Sammy finally got out of hospital & rehab and is home doing well.  He & Sarah post a lot on FB.  Gordy - he's like the Energizer Bunny . . .  he just keeps going no matter what!  He got home and immediately started cooking brisket in his backyard smokers for the BBQ Shack! The man doesn't know how to sit down and rest!
Larry Lewis finally came home after more than 2 1/2 months in hospital/acute care, then a stay in rehab.  However, he had surgery last week to remove 3/4 of his left little finger.  A blood clot went into the tip of it way back when he was in the hospital and most of the finger died.  It seems he can't catch a break.  I hope I hit on the ones you were thinking of.

Don Lincoln as always Thanks for your efforts on The Veterans Memorial. Great job.
Also hope everyone is well. We have had a good many deaths in town associated with the Covid-19.
Has anyone been effected by the looting etc? Think of Sally Taylor in the Big Apple. Take care everyone.

SNL; do you have any news on our friends who have been sick or injured?  Been a while since we heard anything on a lot of them.

Don L - I saw your posts and went ahead and corrected the date & the granite so it will read correctly.  It's still a beautiful post and we thank you for reminding us of the very young friends we lost due to VietNam.

Regret that I missed this earlier.  The last entry for Jerry Glaze contains a typo.  Next to last line: “Died: Dec 4, 1948” should read “Died: Dec 4, 1968”.

Only 2 days shy of his 20th birthday …

I intended to mention in the previous entry: In the Memorial Day tribute on 5/25, in the sentence just above the beginning of the photos, the words “black marble” should read: “black granite”.

Thank you, Carol, for the kind words following the Memorial Day tribute to all our fallen SOC classmen.  Kudos to James Kidd for his participation in the program shown on FB, although I was unable to view it.

Lastly, thanks to Sandy for her e-mail letting me know she told others about our GB tribute and positive comments received on FB about it from members of all classes.

Now, an overdue b'day note:

H a p p y  B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Ann DelRegno Hoose for May 27th!

Ann, as eating-in, carry-out, pick-up and maybe occasional cool night, socially-distant patio dining continues, we hope you celebrated a great one on your big day.  We're all looking forward to an opportunity to have a mini again, so hang in there and best wishes for many more!

Don - Thank you so much for the beautiful tribute to lost friends. 💕😢🇺🇸
James Kidd participated in the “Taps Across America” tribute to the fallen today. There is a video on his Facebook page. It is quite touching.
Trusting that everyone is well. Love to all - Carol

Place: Our Visit to Surgeon Today

Comments:
Today had appt. with Don's surgeon.  Removed the long soft cast & put on a long hard cast.  Has a little bit more of his fingers showing but still goes all the way up past his elbow. In a permanent bent position.  Next appt is 4 weeks!  Going to be a long summer.

The Blue Angels did a fly-over here last Wed starting up N at the McKinney airport and came down 75, over to Denton, back over to Plano, Richardson, Garland and back out and down 75 to downtown Dallas and then off to Ft Worth.  It was a perfect day.  Blue skies, no clouds and mild temps.  I drove over to a good spot off the Geo Bush & it was so exciting. So many people lined up everywhere.  It was a great spirit lifter!!
