See, he is still alive. [tongue] I have not been holding him captive.   Today is Don's B-day and I wish him a full recovery soon!  This year has not been what any of us had imagined.  We've not gotten to celebrate any of our families B-days, including today.  But oh what a celebration we will have when COVID-19 finally leaves and we can all be with our family and friends once again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON !!!  LOVE YOU!!!

I believe this is only my second time here on the Guest Book, but Miss SNL keeps me informed of all the important happenings, and I do look here occasionally.  I’m posting today to sincerely express my heartfelt appreciation for your prayers and concern for me and your support for Sandy regarding my most recent biking accident.  That means so much to us, which makes this note of thanks way past due.  I am truly amazed at the depth of your love and support for each other and their love ones.  What can I say about Sandy that you don’t already know?   For me she is my friend, my wife, my personal angel.  I’ve put her through a lot the last 18 months, but there seems no burden too big for her to bear in spite of her own issues.

As you know, my current problem is a couple of broken bones with some rather serious complications that kept me in Methodist for a few days.  The bones were badly shattered but are on the mend and will be fine I’m sure.  We give thanks for that.  But we all know there are those within our circle, our families and non SOC friends dealing with health conditions that are exceedingly more serious than mine.  Please pray for them often and also for everyone’s safety during this epidemic.  I’ll also pray that I’ll never ride into another steel signpost at 15 mph.

To the person that suggested I die my hair to match my hot pink cast, I just might do it.  But with my barber MIA for months, the resulting long hair and my mostly bald crown, I’m afraid I would look like Bozo The Clown.  Plus, it wouldn’t last very long since Sandy would be after me with clippers knowing I can’t fight back.

God bless you all.  I love and miss you. - Don.

Toni - Don't worry,  I think most of us know what you meant and we've all done the same thing.  Great info on Ron Chapman.  I too won several contest via KVIL & Ron.  My two favorites were the 2 tickets to Elvis and the other was a seat in the 1st car of the inaugural trip on the Dart car that went from the rail station downtown to the end of the line on Lancaster Dr in South Oak Cliff. Ron was on the 1st car and broadcasting live his morning show.  He was hanging onto the pole and talking to everyone and doing his regular morning show.  It was a blast.  the Elvis seats were good too.  He was so much fun on the Sumpin' Else dance show out at NorthPark.  I went there numerous times.  Cheers to Ron Chapman & may he live on for many more years.

Sandy, I hope Don’s report is where it should be on his ne t visit. Enjoyed reading about Ron Chapman. He was a gem! He used to host Friday Night Dances at Riverlake Country Club where Charles Degenhart and I represented Ledbetter Dance School weekly. Our trophies were current record albums! I won so many contests on KVIL. One was Ron Chapman’s personal seats for a Cowboys game. We were flown to the game i the yellow KVIL-o-copter, and back to Love Field via taxi paid for my Ron! The last contest I won, Ron hand-delivered tickets to a Michael Bolton concert, and he remembered me! One last trivia fact - one of the senior attorneys I worked for was Ron’s roommate in college - where his name was Ralph Chapman!

Another follow-up visit with Don's surgeon this afternoon.  It was 2 wks ago when he took off the long hard cast and put the shorter one on.  Shattered bone still not healed enough to remove the short hard cast.  So, next visit is in 2 weeks.  Will see how it's healed by then.  So far it has been 2 wks in soft long cast, 4 wks in long hard cast and now it has been 2 wks, plus at least 2 more wks, in short hard cast.

Tonight is the HOA board meeting (via conference call) so need to get supper and get my documents & agenda printed and ready for the meeting at 7PM.  Later SOCites.

Thank you Ron for the info, learned something new today.  Wow, having your name on the tail of  several planes, now that is cool.  And yes, Ron Chapman was always a class act.  I did hear about his stroke and hope he recovers.  He always made it a party no matter where he was!  Hope he continues for many more years.

Saw a post on Memories of Dallas FB page that Ron is 84, living in FL and recovering from a stroke. They also had a clip of the last few minutes of his final radio broadcast. Seemed to be a class act to the end.

I have 19,000plus post on airport-data.com.  When you enter the aircraft tail number, the type and model appear.  If the aircraft has a name associated with it, it too will appear.  Many SW, Delta, and Virgin Air aircraft have peoples names on them  I had a couple of F-4's with my name on the canopy rail (many years ago).

Good morning Ron!  I loved Ron Chapman.  Remember him as Irvin Harrigan on KLIF and then his big move to 103.7 later in life.  I was lucky enough to meet him numerous times on some of the KVIL excursions and get togethers.  Great pic of a beautiful SW plane.  But how did you know it was dedicated to Ron?  I couldn't see his name on it.  Just curious.

Over the years I've taken thousands of pictures of airplanes.  The other day as I was preparing to post one, I noticed that the aircraft was dedicated to Ron Chapman.  Ron Chapman was a Dallas DJ for 45 years.  Some of you may remember him on KLIF (1190 AM) and KVIL (103.7 FM).  I took this picture in Atlanta several years ago: N215WN Boeing 737-3H4

Who would have thought going into late June we'd have this much rain & nice cool temps!  Got lots of rain and wind all Fri night.  Today we've had more showers.  It's 73 degrees here right now at 12:35pm.  Enjoy!

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful SOC dads!!  May you have a good day with family or friends.

Wasn't there a movie called "The Long Hot summer"?  Wonder if they had to deal with a pandemic as well as the heat?  "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"  I went with my older best friend for life and her 3 girlfriends to see that when I was 10 and a half.  The  other girls were all 13.  I never did see the cat in that movie, it was always a puzzle.

Anyway - Don has another week to go before we go back to the surgeon.  I'm praying that totally shatter small bone in wrist is healed enough to be able to put a brace on his arm. Not sure what next step will be, we'll find out next Thursday.

I'm so tired of the owners, Rob Manfred & the Players Assoc. bickering over the # of games and all the other stuff!!  Come to agreement and Let's Play Baseball before the winter sets in!!  I would like to go see just one game at the new Globe Life even if I wear a mask and wrap myself in bubble wrap!  C'mon, times running out.

Ok, that margarita was good.  Maybe I'll go fix another.
