For those of you wondering when you'll receive your IRS Tax Stimulus checks, here's the skinny. If you opted for Direct Deposit, you should already have it.

If you didn't specify, then it is coming by snail-mail according to the following schedule:

http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html

Looks like mine won't roll in 'til late June.

You are right, Christie has a great big, beautiful smile. Just look in the photos from our get-togethers. Her smile consumes the pictures. She never seemed to miss a reunion or get-together. They just won't be the same without her and that smile.

================

BTW, we will be in Houston this Saturday. Wish we had time to see you. Would like to see Mario and Barbara Fuentes, too. But, unfortunately, we will be constantly on the go attending a pre-wedding luncheon, then the wedding, reception, etc. One of my daughter's roommates from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is getting "hitched."

The rest of the weekend will be spent in Huntsville. NO! Not in prison! At our daughter's apartment.

Christie B., you are so beautiful to me and to everyone who has ever known you.  I close my eyes, and I think of Christie---I see the beautiful lady toasting us in her favorite picture---forever young, forever kind, forever friends.  I can't stop the tears.  But, when I see her smile---her light shines as bright as heaven.

Oh my God! I guess I haven't read the posts too well. I usually scan them. I had no idea Christie was this bad off. This really shakes me up. I didn't know her very well, but remember her quite well. She seemed so well when I saw her at a get-together last year. I think it was last year, anyway.

I know her entire family must be numb from shock right now. Telling a loved one goodbye is never easy. And for those of you SOCites who were close to her, I know this it a tough time for you.

Christie's family and all of you are in my prayers right now. I know you are grieving right along with her family.

It is so hard to believe that Christie's battle is nearly over....especially after seeing her in Nov.  She was her spunky smiling self.  Her family has really met the challenge by honoring her wishes.  She has been and will always be a class act.

We have heard from Amy (Christie's dtr) and she has a request.  She doesn't won't to sound ungrateful, but if you were planning to visit this week, please hold-off!!  All of Christie's 4 children, her brothers, sister and other family members are all there this week at Amy's house.  Please allow them "Family Time" to visit through this weekend (May 26th).

I know this isn't easy, but just think about how hard this must be on Christie's husband, Bill, and their children.  We're going to let them say their good-byes and we will check with her after Memorial day.   God Bless all of you for your compassion and support of our SOC friend!!

Linda, I have the book and am saving it for my trip to FL next week.  Mother is the same....just hanging there.
I have two authors I would recommend to you.  Kent Haruf if a CO writer and Jodie Picoult is from NH.  I enjoy both of them...check them out.

In my neck of Oak Cliff those creatures were called Oak Cliff Squids. They showed up whenever we cooked out on the grill. The males came with a smokey sauce that reminded me of BBQ sauce and the females came with a thick yellow sauce that was very much like melted cheese.  While the adults had hamburgers and dark brown bottle drinks, we kids had the OC squids and cokes. We were told they were specially for kids. They would help keep us healthily and make us smarter. They kept us healthy by not reaching for burgers and eventually we smartened up. I found a lot of "things" in the creeks, but never found living or dead an OC squid.

Ada Ann -- Have you received the book "Lizzie's War?"  When you finish it, tell me what you think.

I found a book at WalMart that I am reading "Lost and Found."  It has a picture of what looks like to me a chocolate lab, but in the book there is a black lab.  But the picture on the front of the book will "reel you in" if you like dogs.  If I can get finished reading the book, I'll bring it to the mini for you to read.  I like to read too.  For awhile I couldn't find a book that would hold my attention, so I just read magazine articles, but now I'm back to books.

Hope you mom is doing good.

I have no state funds to distribute to you, but I have the next best thing ... a live music performance from the auditorium stage at SOC High. This video was snagged just last week ...
